LG G Stylo, LG Leon To Hit T-Mobile
Posted in: Today's ChiliWe have heard that the LG G Stylo has launched on Boost Mobile one week back, with word that Sprint too, will be picking up this budget-minded handset some time afterwards, but here we are with word that the LG G Stylo and another sidekick, the LG Leon, it all set to arrive Stateside via T-Mobile, too.
After all, T-Mobile has already begun to sell the LG G Stylo and LG Leon LTE. These handsets became official in April and February, respectively, and so it is nice to see that both handsets can be picked up on T-Mobile with the former being available on more than one mobile carrier, too.
Those who happen to be postpaid customers of T-Mobile might want to check out both the LG G Stylo and LG Leon, and if you would want to settle for the former as a brand new smartphone of yours, you pay just about nothing upfront, before following it up with 24 monthly installments of $12.08 each month, ending up with a total payment of $289.92.
The LG Leon is a whole lot more affordable, and whenever you agree to 24 monthly payments of $6.24, the entire shebang will cost you just $149.76. Definitely phones that are meant for those who are juggling a tight budget.

Earlier in the day, we did hear on how the Motorola DROID Turbo is set to be upgraded right away to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Well, here are more whispers that will concern an upcoming high end smartphone from Motorola – it seems that word is going around that this upcoming handset (and potentially, others to follow as well) will feature support for microSD memory cards in addition to front-facing LED flashes. The former is a whole lot more useful than the latter, although selfie kings and queens might beg to differ and say that both of these are equally important.
Jose Arturo, a Verizon device test engineer who has been testing out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Motorola’s DROID Turbo, claims that later this summer, Motorola will deliver “front facing flash for selfies” and microSD card support to a bunch of its yet unreleased smartphones. Taking into consideration that the Moto G and Moto E do come with microSD memory card slots, one can only make the assumption that Arturo happens to be referencing at least one of the high end handsets from Motorola down the road, perhaps the latest Moto X model that is in the pipeline? After all, high end Motorola handsets tend not to come with an expandable memory slot.
Only time will tell, so stay tuned!

Better late than never, or so the adage goes. I suppose that works best if we are talking about fragile human lives here, heading for a certain destination. When it comes to the rather ruthless world of updates and new software, it is always best to be first or early in front, otherwise your competitors would have the advantage over you, and you would definitely be off for the worse. Sony Xperia Z owners, the agonizing wait is over as Sony has started to seed the Android Lollipop updates for the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZR. These new firmwares will be available only Over The Air (OTA) at the moment, but do expect to see them being made available via Sony PC Companion in due time, too.
These updates happen to weigh in at approximately 700MB in size, and will ensure that the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZR gain additional sweetness with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update. This means you can now enjoy Google Material design across the user interface and its compatible apps, take advantage of intelligent lock screen notifications and customizable settings, gain support for multi-user profiles and guest mode, to be able to move apps to the SD memory card, among others. Just make sure you have around 2GB of free space prior to making the OTA, and it should be plain sailing after that.

Going to Disney World is a dream for many, never mind the extremely long queues for rides, and in the modern day where just about any mobile device comes with a camera module, it is all too easy to snap selfies and upload those photos online to tell the world where you are, and how much you’re enjoying yourself. The thing is, selfies would be a whole lot better if you had a selfie stick help you out, but Disney World has frowned on the use of selfie sticks – not at all places, thankfully, but at selected rides.
Basically, Disney World has banned selfie sticks on rides, and the management at Orlando, Florida intends to crack down on guests who do not want to obey such a recommendation. While selfie sticks have been officially banned since last month at several rides, a handful of park customers do not seem to want to comply, and hence, “No Selfie Sticks” signs have started to appear all around Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
You can make use of selfie sticks at areas that are deemed safe, and even be brought around on your rides as they are safely kept, but one thing’s for sure – you cannot use them on rides. After all, you would not want a three-foot stick being exposed on a fast moving vehicle that has so many other people on it – skewering your fellow human being by accident is definitely horrific!

It was not too long ago that we managed to take a look at the Sharp Aquos Crystal 2, and here we are with yet another release from the folks over at Sharp – with the Sharp Aquos Xx. Granted, the name itself might not sound so savory at first glance, but this is one sexy beast, sporting a rather generous 5.7” display that is encased within an aluminum body. This will be the flagship model from Sharp as opposed to the new mid-range Aquos Crystal 2, where having a larger screen would definitely go a long way in establishing itself among the Sharp smartphone hierarchy.
Underneath the hood, you will be able to enjoy plenty of processing muscle thanks to the most recent Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm. Although it has a 5.7” display, the Aquos Crystal Xx happens to be a whole lot more compact compared to the LG G4 courtesy of its bezel-less design, as it tries to recreate the TV experience on your palm. Sporting an S-PureLCD (Sharp-developed technology) with 1080p resolution, it delivers a pixel density of 386ppi.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will run the show, and other hardware specifications include 3GB RAM, an Adreno 430 GPU, 32GB of internal memory which can be further expanded via a microSD memory card slot, a 13MP shooter at the back and a front-facing 2MP camera. Basic waterproofing is also part of the deal, but no submersions allowed, just rain and splashes.

Securities firm RBC Capital Markets does not bring good tidings for BlackBerry fans – as they have cut in half its estimate of the number of BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic handsets which the beleaguered manufacturer had managed to sell in the previous quarter. According to the securities firm, they figured out that BlackBerry managed to sell a mere 700,000 units of both models, which is half of the original 1.4 million expected. RBC’s analysts cite figures of 3.2 million Passports and Classic handsets being sold throughout the fiscal year of 2016, which is another downward spiral based on its previous estimate of 6.5 million units.
Certainly, the signs simply do not look too good for BlackBerry no matter how hard you try to search for a silver lining behind this dark cloud. BlackBerry CEO John Chen remains upbeat about the situation, however, as he mentioned that he would like to get the company back into the black where handsets are concerned.
BlackBerry has been recommended by RBC to remain focused on software, rather than hardware. Speaking to its clients, RBC mentioned, “We’re slashing our estimates on BlackBerry hardware units, but it’s not the focus anyway.” Do you think BlackBerry has what it takes to remain in the smartphone industry for the long haul?
