YotaPhone 2 U.S. Release Gets A Taste Of Lollipop

yotaphone-2-lollipop

We heard a little while back that YotaPhone 2 could soon be making its way to the United States. The company is not going to link up with a U.S. carrier to launch its unique smartphone, rather it’s going to launch an Indiegogo campaign and sell the device through the campaign. The campaign will be kicked off soon, and it has been discovered today that YotaPhone 2 will arrive in the U.S. running Android 5.0 Lollipop.

A white version of the handset has been spotted as well but the new paint job appears to be limited just to the ePaper display side of the device.

The company has confirmed that its campaign is going to be launched on May 19th, it promises Early Bird deals for customers who are quick to place the order soon after the campaign goes live.

It has not yet been confirmed how long will it take for units to be shipped after the campaign ends its 60-day run, but if it starts shipping immediately then customers will probably have it in their hands by the end of July.

Even though the Lollipop update has not been released as yet for the international version of the YotaPhone 2, the company’s website makes it clear that the handset will come running Android 5.0 in the U.S. No word as yet on the changes that this update brings to the device.

Galaxy S6 Gets New Software Update From AT&T

galaxy-s6-vs-galaxy-s6-edge_01

Multiple reports have come in over the past couple of hours that AT&T is rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S6. It’s rolling out of the blue since the carrier wasn’t expected to release an update for this handset, which was only recently bumped up to Android 5.0.2. It’s unclear at this point in time exactly what purpose this software update serves.

As previously mentioned, AT&T recently released the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for this handset, so it was surprising for users when they started receiving the latest update today. Reports also suggest that this update is being sent out for the Galaxy S6 Edge as well.

AT&T has not yet provided a changelog so it is not known what this update brings. The carrier usually updates the support page for the device to reflect the changes that an update brings but so far that hasn’t been done as well.

According to reports the update is 237MB in size and doesn’t make any noticeable changes. If I was to speculate, perhaps it brings a few software tweaks related to safety and stability.

If there were any major changes, users who have already updated their devices would surely have come to know about it.

Here's The Trailer For 'Soaked In Bleach,' The Kurt Cobain Murder Conspiracy Docudrama

Seventeen years after Nick Broomfield’s documentary “Kurt & Courtney,” which explored the conspiracy theory that Courtney Love may have been involved in Kurt Cobain’s death, there’s a new docudrama for those who refuse to believe the Nirvana frontman died by suicide.

“Soaked In Bleach” takes a look at the musician’s death from the perspective of Tom Grant, the private investigator hired by Love to track down her husband after he disappeared from a rehab facility outside of Los Angeles in 1994.

The docudrama combines a couple of interviews with some rather cheesy-looking reenactments, and seems far less credible than director Brett Morgen’s actual documentary on Cobain, “Montage of Heck,” which premiered on HBO earlier this month.

For those clinging to conspiracy theories, “Soaked In Bleach,” will be released in select U.S theaters and on Vimeo on June 11.

Verizon HTC One M7 Lollipop Release Date Confirmed

verizon sign

The HTC One M7 was the company’s flagship smartphone about two years ago and there are still many people out there that are using this handset. Support for major Android updates is usually cut after a device is 24 months old but the HTC One M7 will be getting Lollipop, even if this is the last major Android update for this device. Today the Verizon HTC One M7 Lollipop release date has finally been confirmed.

Verizon has taken quite a lot of time to bring this update for the HTC One M7. Sprint released Lollipop for the same handset back in February while AT&T and T-Mobile followed up in March.

That will cease to matter to Big Red customers once it starts rolling out the HTC One M7 Lollipop update. The confirmation comes straight from HTC’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi, who tweeted that the update is going to be released over-the-air tomorrow, May 14th.

Verizon has also updated the support document for the HTC One M7 to reflect that it’s getting the Lollipop update in the very near future.

Aside from everything that’s included in a Lollipop update, HTC One M7 users on Verizon also get HTC Eye experience, enhanced Visual Voice Mail features, 3-way calling feature, UI design changes and a file manager.

Why Are Our Genitals Between Our Legs?

Why are our genitals positioned between our legs?: originally appeared on Quora: The best answer to any question. Ask a question, get a great answer. Learn from experts and access insider knowledge. You can follow Quora on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

Answer by Joshua Engel

Genitals are between the legs of every vertebrate. In those that don’t have legs, it’s between where the legs would be (the fins of fish) or where they were (the legs of reptiles that evolved into snakes, which still have them there). They got that way because they’re an outgrowth of the excretory tract. In other vertebrates, the excretory and reproductive orifice is the same. It took the mammals to build it into a separate set of genitals.

The excretory organs are at the other end of the trunk from the mouth. That came first; limbs came later. It goes back over a billion years of evolution, to pretty much everything since the jellyfish (including not just vertebrates but insects, worms, and nematodes). Primitive multicellular organisms would eat by absorbing something at one end, processing it, and ejecting the remains from the other. The process of forming the digestive tract through the center of the blastula is one of the first things that happens to a developing embryo.

In a quadruped it’s reasonably obvious that the mouth is at one end and waste goes out the other. That’s perhaps very slightly less obvious in humans because of their upright posture, but humans are really just very slightly modified quadrupeds. The genitals are there because that’s where evolution already had an opening to work with. Evolution rarely introduces new openings into the body, which is why the process of gastrulation (developing the digestive tract) is so fundamental to all complex organisms. It only had to happen once.

Why Abortion Rights For Boko Haram Rape Survivors In Nigeria Are Vital

The Nigerian military has freed hundreds of Nigerian women and girls who were being held by Boko Haram militants in recent weeks. The militants have kidnapped at least 2,000 women and girls since the start of 2014 and according to rights groups they have forced many of the hostages into sexual slavery.

In an article this week in Cosmopolitan magazine, senior political writer Jill Filipovic investigates the lack of access to safe abortions in Nigeria and the rights of rape survivors. Filipovic sat down with HuffPost Live’s Alyona Minkovski on Tuesday.

Sprint Releases An Update For Galaxy S6 Edge To Fix Some Bugs

samsung-galaxy-s6-edge_004

Galaxy S6 Edge owners on Sprint should keep their eyes peeled for an update notification because the carrier has just now rolled out a new software update for this handset. It’s a minor and incremental update which is going to fix some bugs on the device. Users shouldn’t expect to see any new features on the handset after this update has been downloaded and installed.

Sprint isn’t the only carrier that has released an incremental update today for Samsung’s latest flagship. A couple of hours back AT&T released a new software update for both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

However it is still not clear why AT&T has released that update today. Unlike Sprint, the country’s second largest carrier has not provided a changelog which states precisely what this update does.

Sprint has also updated the support page for the Galaxy S6 Edge to confirm that it has indeed released a new software update for this handset.

Software version G925PVPU1AOE2 retains the device at Android 5.0.2 but brings some crucial bug fixes for the Galaxy S6 Edge. It comes in at around 130MB so it should take more than a few minutes to download and install on your device, just be sure to connect to a good Wi-Fi network first.

LA Winery? Totally, Dude

There’s a place, just north of DTLA, where Angelenos – or visitors – can have an immersive experience of a fantastic meal, a tasting tour of a winery, and get a history lesson on LA’s early wine making pioneers. And its been there over 98 years.

Hidden along the industrial streets of the warehouse district, Los Angeles’ San Antonio Winery has been making wine since 1917, surviving prohibition only by becoming a sanctioned wine maker for the Catholic Church… amen!

Today, the renovated, working winery and restaurant embraces its heritage and boasts some of California’s least known, yet finest wines. Yes way, dude. Winemaking in LA. Totally awesome.

Winemaker Arnaud Debons worked in the Bordeaux and Cahors regions of France after graduating from the prestigious winemaking program at the University of Toulouse in France. He brings his expert tastebuds to San Antonio Winery and we get spoiled as we taste triumph with every sip and bite.

Daily wine tours and tastings offer an authentic way of learning and enjoying wines made there, as well as wines from around the world.

Maddalena Restaurant offers a daily menu, combining fresh ingredients with home-made love, that turns visitors into loyal repeat customers. Who knew the Land of Botox and silicone could also nurture old school Italian cuisine?

Must DRINK: Everything! I specially loved their La Quinta Port. My wife, the Traveling Diva bathed in it. Ruined all her clothes, but she left with a smile on her face.

Arnaud particularly enjoys keeping an eye on the winery’s estate vineyards in Monterey, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley. Who wouldn’t? If your passion is wine, wine making, or even better, wine tasting, San Antonio winery is a trip around the world in 80 sips.
