Microsoft's age-guessing tech highlights effects of homelessness

Microsoft’s how-old.net isn’t the most reliable age detecting software. The company set it up as a demo site and never expected it to go viral (two million shares on Facebook). While thousands of users checked in to see how old an algorithm thinks th…

Landvo S6 Pays Homage To Galaxy S6

landvo-s6They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I suppose that saying rings true when it comes to the world of smartphones, as we have seen our fair share of clones in the past. This time around, the Landvo S6 would be the particular model that takes center stage, and if you are quick enough, you would know that this happens to be a clone of the Samsung Galaxy S6, which is one of the South Korean conglomerate’s most recent flagship models released. The asking price for the Landvo S6 happens to be just $110 a pop, now how about that?

Clearly, being a clone, it would have to share a fair number of physical resemblance to that of the original model, and the Landvo S6 will feature a metallic exterior, not to mention the fact that it has also received a touch (pardon the pun) of TouchWiz. The camera itself is also placed in a near perfect location as with the Galaxy S6, and there are also rounded metal edges which has been claimed to take up to 111 hours to polish before arriving at such a physical state. At the back lies a 16MP shooter, while the front has a 5MP camera, just like the original.

Underneath the hood is where all the difference lies – the speedy Exynos 7420 is not there, but rather, one would find a rather lowly MediaTek MT6582 processor, accompanied by 1GBRAM and 16GB of internal memory. A 2,550 mAh battery runs proceedings, while you can stash in dual SIM cards to keep your private and public lives separate, with Android 5.0 Lollipop holding everything together.

General Mobile 4G Shows Up In Europe

android-one-heroGoogle, the famous Internet search giant, has just unveiled their very first Android One smartphone which has been specially made just for the region of Europe. The handset’s name? It is known as the General Mobile 4G, and will be released later this week – in three days’ time, in fact, over in Turkey. While one would know that majority of Turkey happens to lie in Asia, with just a wee bit of Istanbul situated in Europe, Google has played on this technicality by christening it as its “first Android One European country.”

Just what will the General Mobile 4G come with if you happen to be an interested party? For starters, it will be powered by Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right from the get go, not to mention the promise of software updates – guaranteed, mind you, for a couple of years. Of course, this is far from being a high-end smartphone in order to keep to the Android One image, it does have a number of features that are more than decent.

For instance, your eyes will be treated to a 5” IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, while it sports a 5MP front-facing camera, a 13MP shooter at the back, a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a 2,500 mAh battery. The asking price for the General Mobile 4G should be approximately $260 thereabouts sans contract. [Press Release]

Tom Clancy’s The Division Has Been Delayed

tom-clancy's-the-division

There is bad news today for folks who have been waiting for Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ubisoft announced this title back at the E3 conference in 2013. Multiple Ubisoft teams are working on this project but it appears the extra help hasn’t been able to keep the release on track. It was confirmed today that Tom Clancy’s The Division has been delayed.

Ubisoft confirmed the delay during its financial earnings call today, Tom Clancy’s The Division is now expected to be released in Q4 of fiscal year 2016, which runs from January through March 2016.

The Division was originally intended to be released this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Earlier this month Ubisoft announced that it was bringing on another team to help with development, particularly with the multiplayer features of this title.

We now know for sure that the title is not going to be released before early 2016 so there’s no point in hoping that Ubisoft is going to have a change of heart.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that while it’s never easy to move launch dates, “we are committed to make decisions that will benefit the players.”

One of the reasons why the title has been delayed is because Ubisoft wants enough time to ensure that enough feedback is received from gamers from alphas and betas before the title comes to market.

Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge In Europe & Asia Gets OTA Update

galaxy-s6-vs-galaxy-s6-edge_04They say that good things come to those who wait – well, perhaps that saying is tried and true, otherwise how else would hit have “survived” this long? Well, we have received word that both the Samsung Galaxy S6 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge over in Europe and Asia have started to receive the Over The Air (OTA) update, which among other improvements, will include better fingerprint scanning.

Having been on the market for more than a month already, both of these smartphone models are successes in their own right. Samsung has ensured that their latest devices will remain up to date where the software is concern – which is a good thing, too, since you will need to uphold the image of your flagship devices among the masses. In fact, the European version of the forerunner did pick up a minor update in select regions, and there was also a different one that intends to improve the memory management of the phones.

The latest update that is making its way across Europe and Asia would carry the XXU1AOE3 build number, where it weighs in at 159MB, which ain’t too large in this day and age when it comes to the overall file size. It would be interesting to see just how much better the touch-based fingerprint scanner will be in this latest software update, not to mention a new feature being introduced to the built-in Photo editor to boot.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate Multiplayer Component Doesn’t Exist

assassin's-creed-syndicate-no-multiplayer

Some might find it hard to believe that in this day and age a major title can go on without a multiplayer component but Ubisoft Quebec wants to prove them wrong. As expected, the studio has confirmed that there is no Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate multiplayer component because their entire focus is on the core single-player experience of this title.

Creative director Marc-Alexis Cote says that the team wanted to bring back this stealth-action series to its very roots and provide gamers with an excellent single-player experience. So instead of adding online or co-op play, Ubisoft Quebec decided to turn this into a narrative-driven title with various new elements aside from tweaks to stealth and combat.

All story and side missions in Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate have been created in a way that they fall back into the narrative, which revolves around two protagonists, the siblings Jacob and Evie Frye. Yes, you will be able to play as a woman in AC: Syndicate, Ubisoft is certainly making up for the ruckus it caused with AC: Unity last year.

Cote added that the reason why there’s no multiplayer component is because the ultimate goal is to “focus on the roots of the franchise,” which is all about a great single-player experience. Assassin’s Creed: Unity is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC on October 23rd.

This Teen Can Touch Her 4-Inch Tongue To Her Eyeball (VIDEO)

She calls herself “Long Tongue Lewis,” and she isn’t exaggerating.

Adrianne Lewis, 18, can touch her eye with her 4-inch tongue.

OK, so she needs a helping hand. But that’s still pretty amazing. The Muskegon, Michigan, teen can also touch her nose, her chin and her elbow with it.

Lewis says she wants Guinness World Records to measure her tongue. The current record-holder is 24-year-old Californian Nick Stoeberl, whose 3.97-inch tongue appears in the 2015 Guinness Book of World Records.

Lewis’ mother, Julianne, told Barcroft TV that she first noticed that her daughter had a big tongue when she was about 10 or 12 years old.

“She would stick her tongue out, touch her nose and touch her elbow. I think she was kind of discovering herself,” Julianne Lewis says in the video above.

Her mom says long tongues run in the family, but Adrianne Lewis suspects her licker may have grown longer with use.

“I think that with time, and with me being the weird kid that I was and always sticking out my tongue, it could have stretched,” Lewis said.

Could there have been a celebrity inspiration behind Lewis’ tongue tricks?

In case you forgot:

Like Miley, Lewis shares her antics on social media and on YouTube. So far, Adrianne’s been keeping herself out of trouble.

Her boyfriend told Barcroft that Lewis sometimes gets comments online that make him uncomfortable, but that she usually deals with it by deleting them.
