Half a dozen years in the slammer – that would be the number of years that Alix Tichelman has to spend in prison after she pled guilty to offering a Google executive a dose of heroin in California, where this particular dose roved to be fatal at the end of it. Alix Tichelman pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and drugs charges, which ended up with Forrest Timothy Hayes losing his life in 2013.
Apart from that, it was said that Tichelman failed to seek out help for Hayes as he passed out after she injected him with heroin as they were spending time together onboard his yacht. According to the police, she was a prostitute, and the pair did meet up in the past on several occasions. This particular plea was as such, since it involved a deal that would include a reduced manslaughter charge.
According to Tichelman’s lawyer, Larry Biggam, he did expect Alix to serve halve the amount of jail time, since she will also be on the receiving end of credit for the time that she has already served to date, which is close to a year. In fact, Tichelman agreed to the plea deal due to the evidence surrounding the case. What do you think of the sentence?

The folks over at Instagram have not been resting on their laurels for sure in the past few months, at least not since they rolled out a Layout app for those who work with iOS-powered devices. Instagram has now delivered their Layout app to those who are rocking to Android, and just in case you are not too familiar with what the Layout app is all about, it would enable one to snap photos as well as make collages from them.
The Layout app will be free, and the good news today does not stop here. Instagram also has another app that can be downloaded, calling it Structure. The Structure app will enable users to highlight details and structures in images, and just as the Layout app, this particular one will be free as well. The tables have been turned this time around however, since it is available only for Android users at the moment, with an iOS version in the pipeline for a release down the road.
If you are interested in both apps, they are available on the Play Store for free, so why not check out the Layout and Structure apps today? Or would you rather stick with the same old, same old?

Google Search Now Delivers Tweets
Posted in: Today's ChiliGoogle has now introduced the inclusion of Tweets to its search results on the mobile platform, and this is made available through the official Android and iOS Google apps. Of course, the good news train does not stop here, since similar Tweets inclusion will also be part of the search results on desktop and mobile browsers, too. These search results happen to be triggered by “Twitter” keyboard searches when it comes to specific accounts and hashtags, and you will also be on the receiving end of popular results from Twitter where other keywords are concerned.
Google claims that this happens to be an attempt to include “real-time info” into its results, and hopes that such a move will offer Twitter users with a wider audience for their content, too. This ought to prove to be the start of what might be a great relationship for Twitter where broadening its reach is concerned, and might very well be a factor in exposing Twitter itself to those who have yet to jump aboard the bandwagon.
Twitter, of course, still has the responsibility to place Tweets in front of additional eyeballs than they might have reached in the first place, Twitter still has their work cut out for them that it is worth having a Twitter account. [Press Release]

Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 Revealed
Posted in: Today's ChiliSharp announced their AQUOS Crystal smartphone officially in August last year, and barely a full year in existence, there is already a sequel announced. Needless to say, the sequel to this handset will follow a numerical format, where it is known as the Sharp AQUOS Crystal 2, and will sport a screen size that is larger – and hopefully, easier on the eyes, too, at 5.2”, not to mention the inclusion of basic waterproofing as well as mobile wallet support thrown into the mix. The Sharp AQUOS Crystal 2 is set to roll out on Softbank in Japan later in the middle of July, and it remains to be seen whether the handset will eventually arrive Stateside or not.
With a more generous S-PureLED display, your eyes will definitely appreciate it, although the resolution count remains at 720p which will place this in the mid-range scheme of things. The chassis has received a boost in terms of dimensions at 136mm x 71mm x 11mm as it tips the scales at 154 grams, which means there is not much bezel in the first place.
The main camera will be an 8MP shooter, while the front-facing 2.1MP camera has been relocated to be below the display. The AQUOS Crystal 2 has received a boost in terms of RAM however at 2GB and the internal storage has been bumped up to 16GB. [Press Release]

We do know that the folks over at Oculus have already sent out invites to the press for them to attend a special event that is set to happen this coming June 11th in San Francisco. The company did offer the image that you see above, in addition to the invite that carried word on how consumer pre-orders are set to happen some time later in the year. The invite itself carries the tagline “Step into the Rift,” which would more or less point to the very real possibility that additional information concerning the consumer Rift headset launch in addition to final hardware details could be divulged as June 11 rolls around the corner.
An interesting observation would be this – the Oculus Rift headset shown in the image does not seem to match up to any current hardware, perhaps there is a new version of developer hardware that will be based on the final headset specifications which will be shown. This particular design does come with integrated headphones, where Oculus VR did mention in the past that integrated audio would very much be part of the deal where the shipping version is concerned. Ah well, nothing like a little bit of patience for all to be revealed, right? It is not like they are going to announce an adult-content blocking feature.

LeTV One Pro Sold Out In A Second
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen it comes to flash sales, one must always be extremely cautious – and by this, I mean to take a look at the figures in context with the overall situation. For instance, the Xiaomi Redmi 1 sold 60,000 units in 13.9 seconds last September, and this time around, we have word that the LeTV One Pro has actually sold out – taking all of just one second to get the job done, so to speak.
Each of these units happen to be priced at roughly $403 after conversion, and to get a better idea on just how popular the brand is, the LeTV One actually sold out in 3 minutes and 46 seconds, which is definitely an eternity if you were to compare it to the LeTV One Pro. I suppose this is because there was plenty of interest in the handset from LeTV, taking into consideration that over 10 million folks registered for the sale.
The LeTV One Pro will sport hardware specifications such as a 5.5” display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution, running on a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC, mated to an octa-core CPU and Adreno 430 GPU, not to mention complemented by 4GB RAM alongside 32GB of internal memory. Not only that, it has a 13MP rear-facing camera that will boast of OIS and a dual-tone flash, while in front lies a 4MP Ultrapixel camera.

Tipster Alerts Police To 'Rocket-Propelled Grenade' Attack On 'Norman Rockwell' Town
Posted in: Today's ChiliAuthorities in Florida made two arrests and confiscated a cache of weapons and drugs after receiving a tip that two men were planning to attack a police department, church and youth camp, with a “rocket-propelled grenade launcher.”
“They certainly had the means to carry out a threat,” Eustis Police Chief Fred Cobb told The Huffington Post.
Cobb’s department, along with the Saint Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and an Elks Lodge youth camp were the intended targets of the attack, according to a tip authorities received from a jail inmate on Friday.
That tip led investigators to a Marion County property, where they seized 22 firearms, several containers of black powder, two bulletproof vests, over a pound of marijuana, powder and crack cocaine, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Authorities say they found 32-year-old Christopher Conger and 29-year-old Jeremy Robertson inside an outbuilding, but were unable to locate the rocket launcher the tipster said the men planned to use in their alleged attack.
“I happen to know the confidential informant,” Cobb said. “Even though I would question his credibility, everything he provided proved to be accurate, other than the grenade launcher.”
A safe found in the shed that allegedly hid a rocket launcher.
The tipster allegedly told the Marion County Sheriff’s Office that Conger and Robertson were motivated by recent “run-ins” with police, but Cobb said he is unaware of any ongoing issues with either man.
“We’ve had interactions with them over the years, but nothing that stands out that would cause them to have, in my opinion, any ill will toward the police department,” the chief said.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office did not return a call for comment from HuffPost on Tuesday. In an interview with Mynews13.com, Maj. Terry Brevard said it remains unclear whether the men actually had access to a grenade launcher.
“The fact that a rocket-propelled grenade launcher wasn’t found doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist,” Brevard told the news station. “We hope we can find it, if it’s out there.”
Cobb said the grenade launcher was likely “nothing but bravado.”
“The weapons and bulletproof vests concern me more so than a grenade launcher, which is hard to come by for the average person,” Cobb told HuffPost.
Conger, of Umatilla, was charged with seven criminal counts and Robertson, of Ocala, faces eight counts. The alleged offenses include possession of cocaine with intent to sell, grand theft of a firearm, using or displaying a firearm during a felony and wearing a bulletproof vest during certain crimes.

Neither man has been arrested in connection with the alleged grenade launcher attack.
“We have a Norman Rockwell town with our streetscapes and lakefront property and the caliber of people that live in our community,” said Cobb. “So it’s a sobering reminder that things like this can happen in Small Town USA.”

If you’re looking for yet another reason to dedicate yourself to a consistent meditation practice, consider the big neurological benefits it may offer you down the road.
Over the years, research has suggested that moments of mindfulness can help improve concentration, reduce stress and boost happiness, which benefits the mind, body and spirit. Wendy Suzuki, neuroscientist and author of Healthy Brain, Happy Life, joined HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to talk about how mediation can also increase brain function.
“We know from the studies of Tibetan monks that there are profound effects of long-term meditation, and they found those profound effects on the general patterns of electrical activity that you can measure from the scalp,” said Suzuki. “This is called electroencephalography. What happens in people that are long, long-term meditators is that their patterns of electrical activity start to have particular frequencies of activity, called gamma waves. We associate them very vaguely with higher cognitive function, but what’s clear is that when you do a lot of meditation, you move your brain into that state.”
Watch the full conversation in the HuffPost Live video above to hear more about how meditation affects the brain.
