Lifeproof wants to provide more juice to your iPhone 6 with FRĒ Power

lifeproof-freA smartphone that is full well capable of many different functions is something that many of us happen to take for granted these days. After all, we expect it to be our portable media player, our GPS navigation device, our mobile computing device, and of course, primarily, our communications tool. The thing is, with so many different functions crammed into the smartphone, you end up with a device that would not last too long throughout the day, even more so when you are especially hectic in your involvement that day. Well, Lifeproof knows how crucial it can be to have additional juice just to make that important phone call in an emergency, which is why they have released the FRĒ Power that will double the battery life of the iPhone 6.

FRĒ Power will incorporate advanced battery technology into LifeProof’s thin, sleek, four-proof protective case, where this particular case does not only look good, but it will also guard itself against damage from water, drops, dust and snow, now how about that? These will certainly be features that appeal to those who have an adventurous streak.

FRĒ Power’s lithium ion battery will boast of 2,600 mAh of power which can be engaged with the press of a button. Smart charging technology will ensure that your iPhone 6 will be able to obtain a 100 percent charge, before it stops the charging process automatically, which in turn will save whatever additional power there is left for a later time period as and when required. Not only that, there will be status LED lights that will depict the balance of the remaining battery life, albeit in 25% increments.

The FRĒ Power is also tough – being waterproof up to 6.6 feet (2 meters) for an hour, is drop proof up to 6.6 feet, and will remain completely enclosed from dirt and snow when the case and all ports are sealed. The asking price can be rather hefty, but you get what you pay for in this case with the FRĒ Power for iPhone 6 retailing for $129.99 a pop.

Merle’s Knife Hand Replica Wants to Kill Rick

The first time I saw Merle and Daryl in The Walking Dead I really didn’t like either of them. Daryl has definitely grown on me, though I was rather glad to see Merle turn. One of the most memorable scenes in the show was when they left Merle cuffed to the roof of the building in season one and Merle cut his own hand off to get away from the horde.

The next time we saw Merle he had fixed himself up a prosthetic hand with a knife on the end that reminded me more than a little of The Evil Dead. You can now get your own Merle’s knife hand roleplay weapon at ThinkGeek for $24.99(USD).

The inside of the prosthetic forearm is 13-inches in diameter so it should fit you without having to cut your hand off. Just remember, you don’t have to be a racist dick if you wear this thing for some cosplay action.

Top games to look forward to this year

With GTA V having been released for the PC in April, some would argue that the largest release of 2015 has already hit the shelves.

That said, there are another seven months left of the year, and in the gaming world, that’s a lifetime – so, what games are fans yet to look forward to? Mobile phones Direct share their top picks throughout the year:

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour
PS4 and XBOX ONE / July

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour

With Tiger Woods finding himself firmly in the bunker, it is no surprise to see Golf’s hottest star on the face of the PGA game series.

Now that the release is just beyond the horizon, the game also marks shift from the 360 and PS3 to a new generation of consoles, so in many ways, the game has a lot to live up to – but could mark a fresh start for a series that hasn’t seen much change since its first release, back in 1990.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
PS4, XBOX ONE, PS3, XBOX 360 / September

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Serving as a sequel to Metal gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the title will see Venom Snake venturing into both Africa and Afghanistan during the Soviet War of 1984.

Although the game has already garnered some small-time controversy, the release has been in development since 2012 and has been long awaited by the series’ large group of die-hard fans.

Halo 5: Guardians
XBOX ONE / October

Halo 5: Guardians

Another classic series that doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon, Halo 5 could well be the biggest release in the run up to Christmas, despite it being an XBOX ONE only game – for now.

Serving as the sequel to Halo 4, released in 2012, the game will run at a mind blowing 60 FPS and the production of the game actually forced Microsoft to order a totally new engine so that the console could cope with the intensity of what it had to produce on-screen.

Star Wars Battlefront
PC, XBOX ONE, PS4 / November

Star Wars Battlefront

Marking the third instalment of the most successful Star Wars game series ever, Battlefront has the added juice of being made by the developers of the acclaimed Battlefield series.

Expected to sell ten million units by March 2016, Battlefront will be the first in release in the series to fully incorporate online multiplayer modes, allowing up to 40 players per match, over 12 maps.

With a Fighter Squadron game-mode having just been announced by DICE, Battlefront could prove to be the most successful game of 2015.

Niklas Fegraeus, design developer at DICE said:

A part of this philosophy is a desire to recreate this universe in ways never done before in a video game. We have looked at many new technologies that will allow us to truly take a leap into the new generation of video game fidelity, and this has resulted in physically based rendering as well as photogrammetry workflows.

“These are not easy things to do, but the hard work has truly paid off, allowing us to deliver an authentic, immersive experience with Star Wars Battlefront.
