Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump said he’d love to debate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for charity.
“I’d love to debate Bernie, he’s a dream,” Trump said during a press conference Thursday.
Trump first said he’d debate Sanders, who is still running for the Democratic presidential nomination against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday. Shortly after, Sanders tweeted that he would be down for a debate:
After the appearance, The Guardian reported an aide said Trump was joking about the hypothetical match-up. But that didn’t stop the business mogul from playing up the scenario again.
“I’d love to debate him but I want a lot of money to be put up for charity, so what we can do if we can raise for maybe, women’s health issues or something, if we can raise 10 or 15 million dollars to charity, which would be a very appropriate amount… we could have a lot of fun with it,” Trump said Thursday.
Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.
