As has often been the case with larger Android tablets, the Nexus 9 never quite lived up to its potential. And, it’s relatively long in the tooth, first launching back in October of 2014. Google stopped selling the device about a month ago, and now H…
Super Mario Maker is one of the hottest games ever on the Wii U game console. It has sold like 3.5 million copies because it lets you design fun custom Super Mario levels to relive those old school gaming memories. One of the cooler things about the game is that there are a few costumes that allow you to play the game as different characters.
Two new costumes land today for the Super Mario Maker – Hello Kitty and My Melody. The costumes will be available on a new Event Course today in the US (May 26) and tomorrow (May 27) in Europe and Japan.
I’ve never really understood Hello Kitty or its appeal. I’ve also found it strange that Hello Kitty appears on some very adult items like lingerie and toilet seats as well as clothing and toys for kids.

Hyundai’s Latest Update Lets You Add Android Auto And CarPlay Support Yourself
Posted in: Today's ChiliHyundai was one of the first car manufacturers to support in-car infotainment platforms from Google and Apple. It’s demonstrating that it’s going to lead the way in adopting forward-thinking technologies to improve connectivity in the car, which is why the company is rolling out updates which will enable owners of select models to add Android Auto and CarPlay support to their car themselves.
Hyundai is rolling out updates for some of its 2015, 2016 and 2017 model vehicles. Those who have these cars will be able to add support for Android Auto and CarPlay themselves, and at no additional cost.
The company points out that this eliminates the need for owners to take a trip to the dealership, but if they would rather have a dealer do it, they can take their car in and the dealer will do it for free.
Depending on the infotainment package installed in the vehicle, Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe, Elantra GT, Genesis and Tuscon from the aforementioned model years are eligible for the DIY upgrade to Apple’s and Google’s in-car platform. Hyundai has said that these updates will be rolled out to the Sonata Plug-In Hybrid, Azera and Veloster as well soon.
Owners can get the software update for free from MyHyundai.com. The total download and installation time will be under four hours. Those who would rather have a dealer do it can take their car in for a free update starting next month.

It was reported recently that Chinese manufacturer ZTE could soon launch its upcoming handset in the United States, and that’s precisely what it has done today. The ZTE Axon 7 has been officially launched in the United States today, it’s one of the first handsets in the country to have support for Daydream, the new virtual reality platform that Google announced at Google I/O 2016 earlier this month.
ZTE has launched the Axon 7 handset alongside the ZTE VR headset. The handset itself has been created in collaboration with BMW Designworks and it features flagship-level specifications.
There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, and customers can either opt for a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model or go with the impressive 6GB RAM with 128GB storage option.
The latter also happens to have a force touch-enabled version of the Quad HD AMOLED display that the Axon 7 comes with. It has a 20 megapixel rear and 8 megapixel front camera, as well as a 3,250mAh battery.
ZTE’s new handset is one of the first available in the market right now that supports Google’s Daydream virtual reality platform. It’s also compatible with ZTE’s new VR headset that’s much like the Gear VR.
The Axon 7 is immediately available for purchase in China. It’s going to be sold in the United States directly by ZTE, and through retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Newegg, and B&H. This 5.5 inch, Android 6.0 Marshmallow-powered smartphone starts at $450.

It was back in January 2014 that Google confirmed it’s selling Motorola to Lenovo for $3 billion. The China-based giant acquired Motorola Mobility sans most of its patents which remain with Google. The company has since launched a few handsets after taking Motorola under its wing and even though there have rumors that it might phase out this iconic mobile brand, the company has reiterated its commitment to the brand. However, it didn’t quite work out as well as Lenovo would have wanted.
It has been a while since Lenovo acquired Motorola from Google, and yet in the quarterly earnings report the company sent out today, it acknowledges that integration efforts after the acquisition “did not meet expectations.”
Lenovo acquired Motorola because it wanted to improve its fortunes in the smartphone market, become the third largest smartphone vendor in the world, one that could eventually give competition to Apple and Samsung.
It did become the third largest smartphone vendor in the world for a short while but has since been under increasing pressure from fellow Chinese manufacturers like Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. Lenovo also agrees that its efforts to build up on the Motorola brand in North America have been “not successful.”
Despite all of this, Lenovo is still not giving up on the smartphone market or on Motorola for that matter. It recently launched new handsets under the brand and is looking to hit the ground with a more aggressive strategy to carve itself a piece of this very competitive market.

The experts — doctors, scientists, and mom bloggers — are divided: Is “mom-brain” a thing? Do the impact of pregnancy and the associated hormonal changes continue to affect a mother’s brain when her child is in middle school? Or could it simply be that juggling a whole family’s needs, wants, schedules and health can be tough, especially on only a few hours of sleep a night? Whether you believe “mom-brain” is real or not, being a mother is a full-time job that requires the ability to organize, multi-task and execute with little time to think, eat, or sit down.
Every mom has her own ways of making sure nothing gets forgotten. Some use flow charts and chore wheels, others use apps, and some are the old fashion types who rely on a simple pen and paper and make monster to-lists. I’m a list maker; I live and die by my calendar, I’ve been attached to a day-planner since the first day of high school, and becoming a mom has only increased my need for my trusted companion. It’s the only way I’m able to keep my head on and life on track.
In honor of my love of lists, here is a list of a few important things I would forget to do if I didn’t write them down.
1. Buy toilet paper.
We’ll have three extra tubs of hummus, two-dozen eggs more than we need, and NO TOILET PAPER.
Which leads me to…
2. Write down my shopping list.
Yes, you read that right. I need a list to remember to write down my list.
3. My period.
I always forget it’s coming. All of a sudden I find myself hating my mother and my husband, crying over the fact that my son will get married someday, and all I want to do is eat. Thank god there are apps for everything. I use the Period Diary Pro app. I can track my moods, fertility and it counts down the days to my period. When I find myself wanting to forget my life and run away with the circus, I check the app and nine times out of ten I’m about to receive my monthly visitor.
4. Jury duty.
No joke, I was days away from having a warrant out for my arrest because I missed jury duty. Twice!
5. Trash night.
I like to pretend that “it’s not my job to take out the trash.” It’s one of the few chores I have assigned to my husband, but he is a firefighter and works a few nights a week, so I have to pick up the slack when it comes to trash night. Before putting it on the calendar, I once went over a week without getting the trash out on time.
6. Date night (and all other social engagements).
*TEXT DING*
Friend: Are we still on for tonight?”
Me: Yeah, totally! Can’t wait! (F*CK! And I need a babysitter.)
7. Basic hygiene.
TAKE A SHOWER. Bold print and underlined, and it still doesn’t get done as often as it should.
This confession comes from a momma who is a master multi-tasker, as long as she has her list.

Who are the most inspirational people you’ve met and worked with and why? originally appeared on Quora – the knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights.
Answer by Chade-Meng Tan, Co-Chair of Nobel Peace Prize nominated campaign & NYT bestselling author, on Quora.
Without a doubt, the most inspiring person I’ve ever met is His Holiness the Dalai Lama (HHDL). I met him for the first time in November 2005, during his visit to Stanford University. Back then, I was one of the major donors to Stanford for the creation of a Tibetan Studies program, so when the Dalai Lama visited, I was invited as a VIP guest to a luncheon in his honor.
Before meeting him, I was expecting to be disappointed. I had certain expectations of what a holy man should be like, and I was pretty sure HHDL would NOT be able to meet my standards. I expected him to be an over-hyped bald dude.
It turned out, the Dalai Lama exceeded even my highest expectations. Wow.
The first thing that surprised me was how warm and joyful he was. He was kind to everyone he met. He smiled at people, held their hands, and he laughed easily. He didn’t have any of the airs and pretensions you would expect of someone with Secret Service protection.
The next thing that surprised me come during his lunch talk. During the talk, the subject of Tibet came up. You could tell this was a very painful subject for Tibetans because the Tibetans around us were either weeping or holding back tears, but he talked with such serenity, without a single trace of anger in his voice, and he repeatedly emphasized non-violence, mutual understanding, and his appreciation for the Chinese people. I was sitting right in front of the stage (I was attending as a VIP), so I saw his eyes as he spoke. At that moment, I was convinced that he was the Real Deal. Despite all the pain he must have experienced in his life, this man shows no sign of anger, hatred or bitterness. I was completely awed.
The next day, I was further awed by how intelligent he is. I was watching his dialog with neuroscientists on stage. Here he was on stage surrounded by prominent scholars, and he held his own among them very well. He asked very intelligent questions and made very insightful points. After a while, one begins to suspect that this laughing bald guy, who spent most of the time whispering with his interpreter, was the smartest person on stage.
The most amazing moment for me came when HHDL was responding to a question about compassion and suffering. Referring to an earlier presentation by Bill Mobley which showed that similar parts of the brain light up when a subject experiences pain versus when he empathizes with somebody else in pain, His Holiness raised a major issue that nobody else had thought of. Interrupting his interpreter, he explained in his broken English that there are at least 2 types of compassion, one for people close to oneself (which he called “limited compassion”), and one for strangers (which he called “genuine compassion”). Both are qualitatively different, and hence need to be studied separately. If the brain patterns for both are the same, “then I feel the brain is very foolish”. Everybody laughed. Bill Mobley was so impressed he commented, “This is one of those experiences where you really understand how that incisive thinking completely defines a 20-year research program”.
As I got to know him better over the years, I realized my initial impression was indeed based on the real Dalai Lama. He is in private the same guy you see in public. He doesn’t put up an act.
In any case, after meeting the Dalai Lama, I told myself that when I grow up, I want to be just like him. Except I want to have hair. And sex. That celibacy thing just doesn’t work for me, sorry.
