With all the hubbub surrounding Overwatch, some folks have been doing a little Photoshop work and the result is Tracer with sexy carrot legs. Apparently, people have realized that those mutant carrots with two pointy bits look a bit like a pair of legs with a pert little bum above them.

Samsung’s Next Flagship Might Actually Be Called Galaxy Note 7

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-16

Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge earlier this year. Both flagship smartphones have done very well in the market and now fans are looking forward to the company’s next big flagship release. The Galaxy Note 6 is expected to arrive in a couple of months but a new report from Korea suggests that Samsung could skip Galaxy Note 6 and go straight to the Galaxy Note 7.

The report claims that Samsung has decided to call its next flagship Galaxy Note 7 instead of the Galaxy Note 6 because it wants to eliminate any inconsistency between the brand image of its two flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lineups.

Apparently this is a move to increase the marketability of the Galaxy Note 7 since the Galaxy Note 6 will have a lower model number than the Galaxy S7 and this could give customers the impression that it’s an outdated phone. Samsung will thus use the same “7” model number across both flagship lineups to unify the premium image of its main handsets.

An unnamed industry source cited in the report claims that there’s already a new Galaxy Note handset that’s being referred to as the Galaxy Note 7 internally. It’s also claimed that Samsung is going to release a variant of the Galaxy Note phablet with a dual-edge display this year, similar to the display on the Galaxy S7 Edge. This means that the front and back curves will be the same on this handset.

None of this has been officially confirmed yet so take it with a grain of salt. Samsung is expected to launch the next Galaxy Note flagship by mid-August.

‘Xbox TV’ Devices Reportedly Launching In June

Xbox E3 2013 Media Briefing

Microsoft is expected to unveil some new hardware at its E3 2016 press event, and a new report suggests that the company is going to unveil its new “Xbox TV” devices at E3 next month. Microsoft is actually believed to have been considering launching an Xbox TV device for the past three years, and it appears that we might finally get to see one in June.

Executive director at Petri, Brad Sams, has said that Microsoft is going to showcase at least two streaming devices at its E3 event. One of those devices is said to be a Chromecast-like streaming stick that will enable streaming of Xbox digital content.

The Verge hears from “sources familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox plans” that it has long been experimenting with a Chromecast-like device that will enable users to stream Xbox One games from the console to a second TV in the house. If such a device is unveiled at E3 next month it’s likely going to be a simple stick that’s compatible with the Xbox One controller.

The other streaming device is rumored to be one with more advanced features, in that it may allow users to access universal apps and games from the Windows Store. It may also be used to stream Xbox One games from the main console, aside from streaming content from the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

Microsoft has not yet commented on these rumors and it’s not likely to given that E3 2016 is just around the corner. Its E3 press event begins at 1:30 pm ET on June 13th.

gophone-at&t

You can never go wrong with more mobile data, and it’s best when it comes at no additional cost to you. In a bid to make its prepaid offering more enticing, AT&T has decided to throw in an additional gigabyte of data for its GoPhone prepaid plans, it was reported a few days ago that AT&T might do this and today it has been confirmed. The move follows Verizon’s recent announcement of more data on Big Red’s prepaid plans.

Currently, GoPhone subscribers paying $45 per month get 2GB of LTE data but starting May 27th they will get a total of 3GB mobile data at no additional cost to them. Customers who are on the $60 plan that currently offers 5GB data will get 6GB data starting this Friday.

Customers already get unlimited talk and text on both plans, as well as rollover data, enabling them to bundle unused data from the previous month in the coming month. Those who are interested can sign up for AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid plans online through the carrier’s website.

It’s possible to get a $5 discount on these plans by enabling Auto Refill, which either charges a debit or credit card or debits a customer’s checking account for $40 and $55 respectively, depending on the GoPhone plan they’re chosen.

Xbox One Slim Rumored For E3 2016, More Powerful Xbox One For 2017

xbox one

Microsoft is already expected to showcase some new hardware at E3 2016. It was reported earlier today that the company could introduce new Xbox TV streaming devices in June but it appears that this may not be all we see from the company. A new report suggests that the Xbox One Slim will be unveiled by Microsoft at its E3 2016 press event. A more powerful Xbox One has been rumored for next year.

References to a new Xbox One wireless chip were first discovered about a month ago, and it’s now being claimed that this cheaper, small Xbox One is going to be unveiled at E3. It may come with a 2TB hard drive while being 40 percent smaller than the current model and with support for 4K video.

The more powerful Xbox One is reportedly codenamed Scorpio. It’s rumored to have a more powerful graphics processor so as to support 4K gaming, and that it’s going to be “technically capable” of supporting the Oculus Rift. Microsoft may also be looking at a partnership with Oculus.

None of this has been confirmed by Microsoft yet but we’re surely going to hear about this if Microsoft has it on the agenda for its E3 2016 press conference. We’ll have to wait until 12:30 pm, June 13th to find out for sure.

Apple Developing Charging Infrastructure For Electric Cars

apple_logo

It has long been rumored that Apple is working on an electric car even though there’s no conclusive evidence to support the theory. Tesla CEO Elon Musk did say recently that it’s an open secret that Apple is making an electric car. The company has hired some talent recently which points towards this possibility, and a new report claims that Apple is working with companies that provide charging stations for cars to develop the charging infrastructure for its electric car.

Reuters reports that Apple is talking to charging station companies about the technology they use and that the discussions are not focused on providing charging stations for Apple employees who may have electric cars from the likes of Tesla.

The report mentions that these companies are not too open to sharing information with Apple as they believe that the Cupertino company could be a potential competitor at some point down the road. One unknown engineering and construction company is believed to have offered its services to Apple.

It’s imperative for any company making electric cars to have a robust charging infrastructure in place to ensure that owners don’t suffer from range anxiety and that they’re able to travel coast to coast without having to worry about running out of charge mid-way.

Apple has reportedly hired four people who specialize in car charging technology, some of them have already worked at Google and BMW. It’s this kind of hiring that continues to fuel rumors about an Apple electric car.

The University of North Carolina Flagrantly Violates Federal Law Affirming Transgender Rights

2016-04-24-1461523628-2037347-images1.png

Barely one month into her job as president of the University of North Carolina General System Margaret Spellings– former Karl Rove protégé and political advisor to George W. Bush- sent a memorandum to all UNC System chancellors on April 5th. Spellings’ memorandum instructed chancellors at each of the 17-campus system to comply with the state’s new anti-LGBTQI law HB2, including the controversial denial of bathroom access to transgender people based upon their gender identity. At the time, it was unclear whether the “bathroom” provision of HB2 was consistent with Title IX of the federal Education Amendments of 1972 that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal funding. UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Carol Folt, leader of the oldest public university in the nation considered one of the few “public Ivies“, followed Spellings by sending a campus-wide email three days later explaining the need to comply with HB2.

This past Tuesday circumstances changed profoundly following the ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Grimm v. Gloucester County Public School Board. Gavin Grimm, a transgender student at a Virginia high school sued his school board on discrimination grounds because it banned him from the boys’ bathroom. The 4th Circuit deferred to the U.S. Education Department’s position that transgender students should have access to the bathrooms that match their gender identities rather than being forced to use bathrooms that match their biological sex. The ruling establishes legal precedent in every state in the 4th Circuit, including North Carolina. The National Center for Transgender Equality issued a press release stating:

This decision makes it clearer than ever that restricting trans students’ restroom use is illegal under federal law, and laws like North Carolina’s HB 2 are trumped by Title IX. The decision provides especially critical guidance for schools in North Carolina, which is located in the Fourth Circuit and is bound by this ruling. The court has sent North Carolina schools an important message: following HB 2 is discriminatory, harmful and illegal.

Chancellors in the UNC System should have moved immediately to greenlight policy allowing transgender people access to public restrooms that correspond to their gender identity; yet, they have done nothing. The schools they head stand in violation of federal law. Chancellor Folt and her peers at the 16 other UNC campuses now have the unilateral authority — and the duty — to comply with federal law. Since the Spellings’ memo of April 5th, a law which was not clearcut is now crystal clear. Symbolically, Folt and other UNC chancellors can deal a lethal blow to the most pernicious provision by enforcing the law across a 17-campus system having hundreds of thousands of students, faculty and employees. Will they embrace the courage and conviction one would expect of the highest administrators at institutions of higher learning, or cower behind superficial press releases and bogus excuses?

No doubt Folt and the other chancellors are awaiting top-down approval from Ms. Spellings to give them political cover — though the issue is one of federal law not politics. Whether out of fear, an abundance of caution or self-interest the fact remains that their schools are violating the legal rights of transgender people. For one, I am uncomfortable waiting for Ms. Spellings to huddle with her Republican handlers in Raleigh. Stakeholders in the UNC system have federal law at their back, history as their guide and the passion to do what students and faculty members in America have done best in times of oppression: dissent, disrupt and demand.

Kate McKinnon Of 'SNL' Out-Impersonates Hillary Clinton And Ellen DeGeneres

It’s no easy task nailing an impression of Ellen DeGeneres or Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, but Kate McKinnon of “Saturday Night Live” has both down to an absolute science.

The “SNL” cast member currently impersonates both Clinton and the comedian on the NBC show. But on Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” McKinnon was faced with a tough task — doing impressions of the two to their faces.

It’s safe to say McKinnon killed it.

“Thank you so much for spending your life fighting for the middle class, and for women and for kids,” McKinnon said to Clinton while speaking in DeGeneres’ voice. “I’ve also spent my life fighting for kids, but I am talking about baby goats.”

The “SNL” and “Ghostbusters” star then turned her attention to Clinton, taking on the presidential hopeful’s voice and speaking to DeGeneres.

“Every day, we face hard choices like which statement blazer to wear,” McKinnon said as Clinton. “When I’m president, I’ll make sure that every American has a fair shot to live up to his or her God-given potential to watch you dance!”

Hell yeah!

While on the show, Clinton entertained the audience with a fun game of vice presidential “Who’d You Rather?” while McKinnon spoke about the odd job she used to have before becoming famous. We’d vote for these two on the 2016 ticket, no problem!
