Toyota recalls 1.6m more cars with Takata airbag inflators

Yesterday, Toyota announced that it will recall another 1.6 million cars in the U.S. over the Takata air bag inflators located within. More Than 2,500 Twitter Accounts Hijacked To Promote Adult Sites

twitter-connect-tabThe thing about having many followers on social media websites like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook is that you’ve got to be careful of what you say, because what you say could be read by thousands or millions of people, some of whom could take what you say seriously. This is why it isn’t surprising to see Twitter accounts belonging to famous people get hijacked all the time.

In fact according to recent reports, it seems that more than 2,500 Twitter accounts belonging to relatively famous people have been hacked and taken over, and used to help promote adult websites, presumably relying on their plentiful followers to help gain more hits and sign-ups, which apparently would net the hackers $4 per sign up.

This is according to Symantec who notes, “Rather than tweeting or direct-messaging users, the attackers used these compromised accounts to like tweets and follow other users, hoping to capitalize on users being curious enough to investigate their Twitter profiles.” So if an account you’re following starts posting something that is a bit out of the blue for them, maybe you shouldn’t click that link.

In the meantime Symantec also says, “Instead of relying on just a password, consider enabling Twitter’s Login Verification that requires you to enter a code that is sent to your mobile phone. This adds an extra layer of security.”

World’s First 3D Printed Office Opens In Dubai

A report from last year revealed that there were plans to create an office building in Dubai. Given that there are plenty of such buildings, this probably wouldn’t have been given much consideration until it was also revealed that these buildings and its furniture would be all 3D printed, and it looks like that project has been completed.

According to a report from Reuters, it seems that the world’s first 3D printed office has been officially opened in Dubai. This 3D printed building will be part of Dubai’s plan to help come up with ideas and technology to help cut costs and save time, and it certainly has managed to do so as the office reportedly took under three weeks to complete.

It also required less workers on site as it really only needed one member of staff to ensure the printer was working properly. Of course there were other workers such as electricians, installers, and mechanical engineers to help oversee the installation of certain components and wiring it up, but as far as the actual building process was concerned, not many were needed.

Costs were also reduced as it cost $140,000 for everything to be wired up and installed, which is said to be half the price of a comparable structure built using more traditional methods. According to United Arab Emirates Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohamed Al Gergawi, “This is the first 3D-printed building in the world, and it’s not just a building, it has fully functional offices and staff. We believe this is just the beginning. The world will change.”

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Launch Trailer Released

FPS titles are a dime a dozen and there are so many to choose from, it’s hard to decide which you really want to play. However if there is one aspect of Mirror’s Edge that sets it apart from other first-person titles, it would be the fact that it involves a lot of free-running, a feature that isn’t as available in other titles.

Now if you are excited to get your hands on the next installment of the franchise, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you know that the game will be launched on the 7th of June which means that we’re only a couple of weeks away from its release, but in the meantime the folks at EA and DICE have since released a new launch trailer showing off what we can expect.

According to the video’s description, “Times are about to change in the city of Glass. Barely out of juvenile detention, skilled Runner Faith Connors stirs things up with the city’s Conglomerate and the evil Gabriel Kruger. Faith is forced to start running for something far more important than herself.”

The game was originally scheduled for a release in February early this year and was then pushed to May, before being pushed to a June 7th release date. However gamers who are subscribed to Origin Access will be able to enjoy the game 5 days earlier beginning on the 2nd of June.

OnePlus 3 Coud See June 14th Unveiling

oneplus 3It seems that there has been much hype that surrounded the OnePlus 3 handset which is all set to be revealed soon, but as for the exact date, that has been kept under wraps, more or less. A OnePlus live chat rep is said to have revealed the OnePlus 3’s unveiling, which is supposedly slated to kick off on the 14th of June. That would place it three weeks away from an official unveiling, which is not too long a period of time to wait, is it?

Do take this particular rumor with a pinch of salt, as until there is an official statement released by the company itself, everything else will have to be looked at with a dose of skepticism. Even if it was a OnePlus live chat rep who allegedly reported such a date.

While we wait, we might as well have a refresher on what the OnePlus 3 will come with – first of all, there should be a 5.5” display that sports Full HD resolution, a speedy Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, a 16MP shooter at the back, NFC support, and a 3,500mAh battery.

Google Store Drops Nexus Player

google-nexus-player-hands-on-2The inevitable has happened to the Nexus Player after all this while – it is no longer available for purchase from the Google Store. Ah well, this is but the circle of life, even for hardware, as nothing remains forever as new models are released from time to time. While the release of the Nexus Player with Android TV did come with a pretty slick interface alongside solid streaming options, it did not look as though it catered to a decent enough number of people for it to justify its existence.

Hence, with the pulling of the Nexus Player from the Google Store, it would mean that NVIDIA’s Shield box remains the last standing Android TV device that is available from Google. As for the other players in the market, the Mi Box from Xiaomi might be worth checking out when it arrives, and other manufacturers happen to be integrating Android TV into TVs themselves. However, do take note that with the Nexus Player gone, so too, is one of the cheaper options to enjoy Android TV in your home.

Thankfully, the Nexus Player being not on sale any longer does not equal to it no longer receiving support, as it will continue to receive the latest Android platform updates, while having access to the in-development Android N preview.

Huawei Goes After Samsung Over Alleged Patent Infringements

huawei-logoThe legal world can be a pretty difficult one to navigate, that is for sure. Well, Huawei, which is one of China’s largest technology companies (not to mention the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world), has apparently filed a lawsuit against South Korea’s Samsung, citing that Samsung has allegedly infringed on technologies that are related to its very own 4G connectivity and user interface.

This is definitely something new, as the world is far more accustomed to seeing both Samsung and Apple duke it out across various courtrooms all over the world. To see Huawei take this step (and with good reasons too, based on what Huawei has presented) might be surprising to some. It also does give out the image that Huawei is not going to take things standing down should they feel that their intellectual property are being infringed upon.

Huawei has gone ahead to file suits in the United States as well as in China, as they are looking for compensation for unlicensed use of 4G technology, in addition to unspecified infringements that are connected to the operating system and system software.

Ding Jianxing, head of Huawei’s Intellectual Property Rights Dept., said, “We hope Samsung will…stop infringing our patents and get the necessary license from Huawei, and work together with Huawei to jointly drive the industry forward.”

YouTube Live Will Return To E3 This Year

If you can’t make it to E3 this year, there’s really nothing to fret over as there will be plenty of sources in which you can read or hear about the latest announcements. We suppose the only downside is that you won’t get to mingle with the crowd or take part in any demos of games that will be shown off during the event.

However if demos and crowds aren’t really your thing, you might be interested to learn that YouTube Live will be returning to E3 this year. For those unfamiliar, last year YouTube put up a live broadcast of E3 2015 which allowed users to tune into events and announcements from the comfort of their own home.

This year will presumably bring the back same features. The coverage will go on for pretty much the whole of E3 this year and can be found in the Gaming section of YouTube, so you might want to bookmark that page if you’re looking to stay up to date on the latest announcements. Live coverage is expected to begin on the 12th of June with live coverage of EA and Bethesda, followed by post-conference coverage from Rooster Teeth.

There will also be a 12 hour stream that will be hosted by Geoff Keighly on Monday, the 13th of June, so expect some announcements and surprise guests as well.

Samsung Has No Plans For New Android Wear Smartwatches

samsung logo 4It does not look as though Samsung has any plans to introduce even a single Android Wear smartwatch down the road, as this was what has been claimed by a Samsung representative. It does come across as a rather surprising bit of news, as it was just a couple of years back that Google’s I/O 2014 conference saw Samsung reveal the Gear Live, which happened to be its maiden outing where Android Wear smartwatches are concerned.

Seems that Samsung prefers to fall back on its very own Tizen platform where the subsequent smartwatches are concerned, and approximately a year back, Samsung even decided to take the bold step of discontinuing the Samsung Gear Live.

It seems that one of the main factors that caused Samsung to take this particular route is because Tizen OS is touted to feature a far greater level of battery efficiency as opposed to Android Wear. Samsung hopes that its Tizen platform will enable it to differentiate its smartwatches amongst the many that are in the market at the moment. Do you think that this is a good move on Samsung’s part? They do have to expend a considerable amount of resources in order to make sure that the Tizen OS platform works well with smartwatches in the long run, after all.
