Feiyutech reveals new gimbal for steady looking photos and videos

summonMany of us happen to have a social media account, at the very least, one of them. Well, what can one do with such accounts? Of course we would be wont to upload the latest happenings in our lives, and since a picture speaks a thousand words, and the easy availability of smartphones which can capture more than decent looking shots most of the time, there is a whole lot of media that floods such channels. If you feel that you would like to take your photo taking and video recording sessions with your smartphone to greater heights, then you might want to consider investing in a gimbal. Feiyutech of China has just revealed a new gimbal for steady looking photos and videos.

This China-hailed company have unveiled a couple of new products – the MGLite which happens to be an upgrade of the gimbal for their Micro SLR camera to a knob, enabling users to adjust the gravity of the camera without a tool, as well as a newly-designed storage bag, which would be able to make life a whole lot easier as you bring the MGLite around with you on your work or mission.

Of course, the other product would be the most exciting one, as you can see in the image above, where it is known as the Summon, which is a handheld gimbal camera. Feiyutech has always been the world’s leading brand in handheld gimbals for sports cameras, but this newly-released handheld gimbal camera will hopefully be able to deliver a greater impact on the whole sports camera industry. It will deeply integrate an anti-shake function, allowing it to shoot 4K video at 25FPS and with 3-axis stabilization. Not only that, it has the endurance to be able to shoot without stopping for over 180 minutes.

Other functions available include anti-shake slow motion, time lapse, a programmable 360-degree auto-rotation time-lapse system, long exposure & anti-shake photography, and remote controlled photography via an app that is installed on a smartphone.

Sony A7 III, RX100 V Rumored For June Launch

sony-a7-II-2014-11-20-01When it comes to mirrorless and compact digital cameras, Sony certainly has managed to hold their own, what with the A7-series of full-frame mirrorless cameras, and the RX100-series of compact cameras that pack a 1-inch sensor, allowing for much better quality photographs compared to your typical compact.

Now if you’re excited to see what Sony has in store for us in the future, you might be interested to learn that according to Sony Alpha Rumors, they have heard that Sony has invited select people to attend special meetings that will be held in June. The meetings aren’t public, naturally, and it has been speculated that they could be related to upcoming cameras like the next Sony A7, and the next RX100 camera.

The cameras in question would be the Sony A7 III, and the RX100 V, both of which were refreshed last year so it is entirely possible that we will be treated to new hardware later this year. We’re not sure if the June event has to do with anything at Photokina which is scheduled for September.

It is possible that Sony might announce something at June, and only show it off in September. Either way it’s best taken with a grain of salt, but check back with us next month to see if there are any details to be had.

DJI Drones Can Now Start Streaming To Facebook Live

dji-phantom-4-3Drone footage is always amazing because it gives us a glimpse at angles and heights that most of us probably wouldn’t be able to capture ourselves. Also because drone footage can be piloted by you, it does bring about a whole new experience. The good news is that if you own a DJI drone, you’ll now be able to share that experience with your Facebook friends.

Last month, the company announced that they would soon allow users to broadcast live streams to Facebook Live from the drone, and now it looks like the update made to the Go app will enable drone users to do just that. The update is available iOS users and for Android users, it looks like you guys will have to wait a bit before it is your turn.

Using the feature is pretty straightforward, plus with Facebook soon removing time limits from Live streams, you will be able to stream as long as your drone is able to stay in the air. The live footage will also help attract a whole new audience who might be interested in watching a live drone stream rather than someone holding a camera or a phone.

However if you have more followers on Twitter/Periscope, DJI drone pilots will also have the option of being able to broadcast live via the Periscope platform as well.

If We Are to Share Humanity, Education Cannot Wait

Before reading further, pause and take a moment to recall your childhood hopes and dreams.

Dreams, for many of us, were bright, aspirational, and even fantastical.

For millions of children living in, persevering through, or recovering from crises and emergencies, their hopes and dreams will be mired with the uncertainties caused by immediate or residual turmoil and tumult.

Today, there is more human suffering since the second world war, a suffering that is increasing despite the efforts of humanitarians worldwide.

World leaders and representatives from all sectors are meeting in Istanbul, Turkey for the first World Humanitarian Summit – not so far from the pain and discord we see and hear of in our news feeds – to bring attention to this tragedy.

They aim to ideate best ways to work together, harness latest techniques and technologies, and leverage capital of all forms, from financial to human to intellectual, to uphold human dignity and empower humanity.

Humanity is at an inflection point. We are evermore connected through markets and media, yet still experience an empathy gap that spans across class, gender, religion, and race.

Recourse must be provided by capable governments and civil society actors and entities to change course, so that we may attain the Sustainable Development Goals the world has agreed upon by 2030.

No longer can we deny that education undergirds inclusive development for all and is the foundation for world peace. At the very essence, education opens hearts and minds, and therefore, allows us to connect with humanity and to share humanity.

Hundreds of global education champions are attending the Summit, among them members of the the Global Business Coalition for Education, global youth ambassadors for A World at School, and leaders of The International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity to launch the Education Cannot Wait fund.

For children living in emergencies and crises, this fund will act at the intersection of humanitarian (short-term) and development (long-term) aid to provide them a sense of normalcy that education gives and hope that learning opportunities delivers from the onset and beyond.

Decreasing funding to education must cease and long-term investments of time, talent, and treasure from government, business, nonprofit, philanthropy – involving elected officials and agency ministers, celebrities and influencers, youth leaders and activists, tech and social entrepreneurs, idealists and innovators of all kinds – must start, scale, and sustain.

If we are to share humanity, education cannot wait, because the hopes and dreams of children depend on it.

4 Game-Changing Relationship Mantras

You probably have mantras for working out (“No pain, no gain!” — OK, that’s not the best one), self-indulgence (“Treat yo’self!”), and dealing with your boyfriend’s pass aggro mom (“Serenity now!”).

But what about mantras for your relationship? I’m a huge fan of relationship mantras: simple little sayings that break the tension, remind us to be better partners, or force us to be accountable for our actions. After all, relationships require a lot of work, much of which is tough, tiring, and complicated.

Saying a three-word mantra in the midst of an awkward moment? Easy as pie.

Try these:

1. “Read the room.”

Living with another person is tricky; there’s just no way around it. Combining two different people’s moods, habits, energy levels, wants, and needs into something that resembles a cohesive and harmonious shared life requires constant compromise and adjustment.

Case in point: One Sunday afternoon, Nick got home from work while I was reading quietly on the couch. He had a ton of energy from a good work day, but I was feeling calm, quiet, and introverted. He entered the room with all the subtlety of a high school marching band, talking loudly and excitedly, making a ton of noise.

I looked up at him and said, “Nick, I love you, and I’m excited to hear about your day, but dude, read the room.”

He instantly realized he’d kind of energetically plowed over me and toned it down. We ended up having a great talk — a calmer, slower talk. Now we use the phrase “read the room” all the time as a check-in when our moods or energy levels are mismatched and we need to adjust. It’s ridiculously helpful.

2. “I like you.”

Hopefully you say “I love you” to your partner as often as possible. But how often do you tell them you like them?

Because as much as we might take loving each other for granted, liking each other isn’t always guaranteed — and it’s rarely vocalized.

It’s so nice to remind your partner that, in addition to those very serious matters of undying love and commitment, you just, y’know, really LIKE them.

3. “Check your vibes.”

What are “vibes” (besides a popular Kardashian Instagram caption)?

Vibes are the energy we’re putting out. It’s a combination of our overall mood, our inner state, the way we’re acting, the things we’re saying, and the things we’re NOT saying.

So when your partner kindly asks you to check your vibes, they’re asking you to be aware of the energy you’re giving off.

A vibe check is a good thing. It might make us realize that we’ve said nothing but negative comments for the past hour and need to give ourselves a positivity reset. It might be just the check-in we need to take accountability for our mood.

Everyone can benefit from a vibe check.

4. “I’m playing my drama queen card.”

OK, so, that’s not three words, but bear with me. How many fights have been started and prolonged because one member of a relationship is just in a cranky, dramatic mood and wants to stir things up?

There’s no way to rationally resolve conflicts like this — because the conflict isn’t rooted in anything beyond a bad mood or a momentary need for some drama.

In these situations, if you can summon up the self-awareness and humility to admit to what you’re doing — playing the drama queen card — it lets your partner know where they stand and that this situation doesn’t have to descend into a horrible fight. It gives them the chance to decide whether they want to play along and indulge you or give you some space to play your card solo.

Since it’s much less fun to play a drama queen card solo, this usually causes the drama to dissipate fairly quickly.

Testy Tuesday – S&P Futures Back over 2,050 – for Now

Go on, take the week off.  

Really, these markets are just stupid – there’s no point trading them.  The volume on the S&P ETF (SPY) yesterday was 58M, one of the lowest levels of the year – including half days!  We opened at $205.51 and closed at $205.21 with a high of $205.84 and a low of $204.99 so a narrow range of 9 S&P points during the day and then, at 3am, we magically race back up 12 points – on no volume at all.  

It’s a manipulated joke of a market and, while we enjoy playing the game, I hear from far too many people who take this nonsense seriously and are worried about what to do in the face of all this uncertainty.  The only trade we added in our Live Member Chat Room yesterday was a neutral butterfly spread on TGT, using our BE THE HOUSE stratgegy of selling premium over time against a long-term position.  That’s how you make money in this market – take it from the people who think they know which way it will go!  

We’re hoping for a nice rally so we can add back Nasdaq Ultra-Short (SQQQ) positions, now that Apple (AAPL) has bounced a bit.  Of course you are sick of me saying “I told you so” but I did tell you so, right in our Friday the 13th post, where I said:

Also, if you’d like a quick stock play – we picked up Apple (AAPL) at $90 yesterday and we leveraged it with the May (expire next Friday) $87.50 calls at $3.15, which closed yesterday at $3.25, which is net $90.75 and we think AAPL can at least bounce $1 or two and that should take those calls to $4, which is a very nice, quick gain into the weekend.  

With AAPL closing at $95.22 on Friday, those calls expired at $7.72 for a very nice $447 (137%) per contract win in 7 days.  That’s the kind of trade idea you get just for having a PSW Report Membership ($99) as it was right in my morning post.  Of course, if you subscribed to our higher-level Memberships, you would have gotten this Top Trade Alert at 9:44am and, in that one, our AAPL trade idea was:

In the Butterfly Portfolio we have 5 long 2018 $100 calls at $9 (down $7) and 5 short 2018 $130 calls at $2.60 (up $6.15) and let’s buy those back and buy 10 2018 $85 calls for $15.70 ($15,750) and no short call sales yet.  

Though it’s still early innings, the 2018 $85 calls have already shot up to $18.95 ($18,950) as of yesterday’s close and that’s up $3,200 (20%) in 11 days so we’ll be watching AAPL closely as our next move will be to re-cover and re-establish our original bull call spread – only now at lower strikes with better prices.  That’s what our Be the House strategy is all about – let other people pay the risk premium while we INVEST in having good positions to sell against.  

Notice that, even in our short-term play, we took the $87.50 calls for $3.25 when AAPL was trading at $90 so those calls were $2.50 in the money with an additional 0.75 in premium.  We don’t like buying premium so, when we have to, we minimize it – that’s how we got such fantastic leverage.  

We’re doing a similar sort of thing with our SQQQ calls, where we sold a lot of short-term premium and our plan is to now buy some long-term positions with less premium that we can sell more calls against.  That keeps us in a spread that can still make good money if the market declines – but won’t hurt us too much if it doesn’t.  

To offset the cost of the spreads, we like to sell put positions on stocks we’d like to own if they get cheaper (presumably selling off with the market).  This strategy is useless if you don’t have plenty of CASH!!! in your portfolio to execute the buys with – but I may have mentioned once or twice that I think we should be very much in CASH!!! this close to the Summer Holidays.  

We’ll have to call an audible in the Chat Room today as we don’t know how long they can keep up this low-volume rally but, as noted above, about 4,400 on the Nasdaq Futures (/NQ) should at least be resistance and we went bullish at just the right spot so we don’t have to be perfect with our cover – as it’s all bonus money now:

As long as AAPL keeps plugging higher, the Nasdaq should be in good shape but, of course, AAPL should hit some resistance at $100 too.  The news continues to be pretty bad but also totally ignored so we’ll just enjoy the rally while it lasts and set ourselves up to profit from the chaos to come.  For the moment – let’s just review a few headlines to motivate you to make those hedging trades during the rally (while they are cheap) – as well as to remind you to cash out some of those bullish positions that have run their course (we’ll do a full portfolio review this week):

Those are just today’s highlights!  Ignore and soar is the market mood this week and that’s easy to do when the entire volume (60M) on SPY ($205) is just 0.003% of the market’s value.  A Billion here and a Billion there and you can make the market dance like a monkey if you want to – and who doesn’t want to when they can make many more Billions from their manipulations?  

There are several article right above that outline some of those who got caught manipulating the market (and here’s 16 more under investigation) and BankAmerica (BAC) just appealed their way out of their now “alleged” fraud in the MBS market so it’s GAME ON for others who can make hundreds of Billions manipulating the market while risking, at worst, what amounts to a slap on the wrist if they get caught and, even then – endless appeals!  

Are the Federal Judges suddenly ruling in favor of big corporations auditioning for the still-empty seat on the Supreme Court?  We report – you decide…

Fool Me Twice

You know that old expression — “Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”? Basically, it’s saying that the first time someone screws you over, it’s on them. Second time? That one’s on you. In dating, it’s often difficult not to engage in the same behaviors on repeat. We’re creatures of habit and fall into the same patterns over and over again. So to make sure that I avoid these situations as much as possible, I frequently reflect on my past performances and decide which ones work best and which need to be retired. At the forefront of these decisions is the fact that if a date doesn’t solidify with someone I’ve been talking to for 2-plus weeks, all communication must be ceased.

As adamant as I usually am about these rules, every now and again, I experience a moment of weakness where I break them. Such was the case with a recent OK Cupid prospect. Two months ago, I started chatting with a tall, Jewish, handsome, runner who also happened to be employed. Though it doesn’t seem like these qualities are all that difficult to find in one person, you’d be surprised at the rarity of this particular combination. Needless to say, I was excited to chat.

A few emails were exchanged. We switched to text. A date was set but it happened to be the night of the first Seder. Bad Jews, the both of us had goofed on the date and upon realizing our faux pas decided to reschedule. Another week passed. I asked when we’d reschedule. He played the usual games putting it off a few days. Finally, I said, enough is enough — make a date or let’s stop chatting. Another date was set.

At this point, we were communicating fairly frequently. He asked about my dating situation as I did his. I told him I was casually dating a few people and he said “If we were to go out and click, I’d expect you to stop dating them — I’m a one gal type of guy.” Now, this isn’t usually my style — I wait for things to get serious before becoming exclusive, but I indulged him and said sure why not. He also said that were he to meet someone prior to our meeting and they clicked, he’d cancel on me. In today’s day and age, I found this whole thing to be beyond bizarre. Everyone dates lots of people casually until they find someone worthy of exclusivity. But hey, everyone’s got their own strange.

Anyway, a week passed and we neared our date. He’d requested a Saturday night–a night that I rarely indulge in(for) first dates as there’s no escaping if things go South–but gave into it because what are rules for if not to be broken. He also quite presumptuously asked me to reserve Sunday brunch as well. As if.

The day before the date, I jokingly texted that we’d made it to the date without his meeting someone else and I was looking forward to finally talking face to face. He responded with the claim that he’d actually meant the following week. Calling bullsh*it on him, he finally admitted that he messed up the night and had other plans. At this point, I was ready to throw in the towel and I’m sure most of you readers are thinking: why the hell did she put up with this. But I can’t explain it — there was something intriguing about our dynamic that kept me coming back for more. I probed a bit asking what his deal was and he admitted that he’d been intentionally evasive because he was uncomfortable that I was dating other guys.

I’m definitely not one to indulge in jealousy, especially when I’ve never even met the person and I said cool, thanks for coming clean but no dice. You wasted my time too many times and I’m not digging it. When the threat of ceased communication was presented to him, he backpedaled and apologized profusely setting a definitive, no questions asked date for the following Wednesday.

Over the weekend, things intensified further. After essentially blowing me off for two months, he asked no less than five times to come meet him over the weekend saying how excited he was to finally get together. Repeated claims of “I’m so into you” were sent my way. Now don’t get me wrong, over time, I can get all about the affection but I’m much more of a slow burn type so this effusive outpouring of feeling was intense and to be honest, a bit off-putting. Each time he asked to meet, I gently joked that he’d waited two months to meet me, what’s another three days.

Sunday night was the epitome of contact. He called me and we spoke for about 30 minutes. We hung up and he immediately texted “I love hearing your voice. I want to call again.” Gently once more, I said, I have to go to sleep. He called again anyway. Twice. In our conversations, he told me that he’d deleted his online dating profile because he felt such a strong connection with me and it was going to be boom or bust. At this point, I was definitely feeling WTF about the whole thing.

Monday was more of the same. He asked for my email so we could chat at work. Again, all cute but definitely a bit of a head scratcher. He’d gone from 0-60 so fast I didn’t know what to do with it. That evening, I had drinks with friends and he had a business drinks/dinner. Once with my gals, I told them about this guy and the group was split about whether he sounded cute or crazy. The next day I woke up expecting to see a text from him as that had been the pattern we’d developed. But when noon rolled around without hearing anything, I reached out to him.

He finally wrote back that he’d clicked romantically with his business contact and, never able to be more than a one-woman kind of guy, was going to focus on that and see where it went.

I hope your jaw is on the floor at this point because I’m still in the process of picking mine up. The only rational explanation is that I was catfished. Something was VERY not right about this guy and if two months of delays wasn’t enough to solidify things for me, his final act of craziness certainly did. He’s since reached out apologizing for his erratic behavior and admitted remorse at his decision. But the truth is, based on his behavior, it seems like I dodged a bullet on that one. So I guess Mr. Crazy, wherever you are and if you ever read this, thanks.

Reviving the Silk Road and Stimulating World Economy

Despite the fact that the Silk Road dates back to circa 300 BC, this international commercial line still figures prominently in discussions among economists and governments on stimulating the global economy through reviving historically proven initiatives. The ancient Silk Road served as an important enabler of great civilisations, including the Chinese Civilisation, the Egyptian Civilisation, the Indus Valley Civilisation, and the Roman Civilisation.

The Silk Road did not impact only cities of commerce, or those that were considered active markets – it also contributed to the prosperity of cities enroute that the merchants and commercial convoys passed. Merchants in the Arabian Peninsula played a major part in preserving activity on the Silk Road, by loading ships with their goods and sailing through ancient maritime trade routes towards the northern shores of India. There, they would meet Chinese merchants and trade Chinese silk for their incense, perfumes, copper and gum.

Later, Islam transformed the Arabian Peninsula and many other lands in Asia and Africa to one unified economic bloc. Muslim merchants significantly influenced all trading activity to and from the Silk Road. While Indian and Chinese merchants docked their ships on the shores of the Arabian Peninsula, it was the Arab merchants who moved goods on their boats or convoys of camels, using a vast network of land and sea routes to re-export merchandise across the ancient world.

The need to revive the Silk Road today, so that the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is one of its central links, is far more than a nostalgic sentiment – it is rather, a response to the recession that has dominated the world economy for over nine years.

The Chinese economy is the most important catalyst of world economy. If the former is stimulated, the latter will see a proportionate surge. This is one critical reason for the present and future of the Chinese economy dominating discussions at the recent Davos conference. The world today realises that rejuvenating the global economy starts with the recovery of the Chinese economy. The Chinese President, Xi Jingping, said during the G-20 Summit in Turkey in 2015 that despite its current temporary slowdown, the Chinese economy contributes more than 30 percent to the global economic growth. This single fact makes us realise the importance of driving trade with China and East Asian countries through reviving the Silk Road – given the high potential the trade line offers to enhancing prospects for the MENA region.

We must remember that President Xi Jingping’s first visit, after launching the Silk Road initiative, was to Arab and Islamic countries signifying their important role in the success of the initiative.
Despite their risks and adverse effects on several markets around the world, the recent economic circumstances provided the world with an opportunity to reconsider the global economic structure, and revive global trade lines among economic hubs capable of adapting to new developments, and keen to contribute to the growth of the world’s economy.

Given this priority, the Chinese President launched the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative that includes the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road in October 2013. The initiative aimed at positively impacting development in more than 60 countries around the world and benefiting more than 63% of the world’s population. In addition, it was projected to step-up global commercial activity, lead to a higher production capacity in major economies and stabilise the prices of raw materials used across industries, including oil, to reasonable levels. As the world’s second largest consumer of energy, China imports nearly half of its energy requirements from countries in the GCC region.

The OBOR initiative was hailed by the members of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, most of whom enjoy strong and strategic relations with China.

Since 2012, trade exchange between the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and China has remained above US$500 billion. Moreover, the relationship between the two parties is based on more than mere economic interest – it is historically rooted in the exchange of culture and science. For decades, the Silk Road has contributed to the growth of movement of goods and people, improved documentation and a surge in publication of research studies by different civilisations along the corridor.

Let us examine some of the ways in which the revival of the Silk Road and the Islamic economy initiative can benefit each other:

• Through the years, many changes have occurred on the world economic map that eventually shifted the bulk of global production and trade towards the east – specifically, the markets of the Middle East and North Africa region. The transition brought with it anticipated benefits and responsibilities for the countries of the region. Today the fate and future of the global economy is closely linked with the economic performance of these countries.

• The launch of the Islamic economy initiative has resulted in fundamental changes in the economic and cultural structure of Islamic countries. These countries are gradually reaping the dividends of the initiative through the growth in their manufacturing abilities and greater focus on products and services compliant with Islamic sharia – such as food and beverages, clothes and family tourism.

• The One Belt One Road initiative will provide abundant opportunities to the main sectors of Islamic economy through facilitating the trade of halal products among countries that feature along the route of the Belt. Furthermore, there’s a significant opportunity for Islamic finance to support infrastructure projects along this Belt.

• Principles of Islamic economy are consistent with the ambitions and aspirations of the Islamic countries for sustainable development and will contribute to strengthening the unity of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. For its part, the body aims to become a strong economic and cultural bloc on a global scale and contribute to the successful development of the Silk Road initiative.

• The changes in the region’s economies, particularly among the GCC-member countries, after the fall in oil prices, has pushed them to diversify their economic activities and increase the contribution of non-oil sectors to the GDP. This has had a positive impact on the future of the people of the region and on the future of the global economy as a whole.

• Today, following the global financial crisis of 2008, the world is convinced that in order to avoid any future turmoil, it is required to rehabilitate infrastructure as well as social systems in the developing countries, particularly in countries that are on the Silk Road corridor and within the heart of the commercial and trade hubs.

Islamic countries today understand the significance of the new Silk Road and look forward to future cooperation and joint ventures that will no doubt drive the desired momentum in the world economy and provide global markets with that much-needed elevation of their fortunes.
