Racing video games have been the bread-and-butter of the video game industry since the very beginning, standing tall alongside side-scrollers, sports titles, and RPGs as the backbones of many a successful franchise. They’re an easy sell, really: throw some fast cars and exotic locations, in digital form, at a demographic that’s too young to legally drive, and you’re bound to … Continue reading

There have been countless reports detailing Microsoft’s rather aggressive tactics for getting people to upgrade to Windows 10. Many have said that they were forced into an upgrade that they didn’t want and while many resigned to their fate, travel agency owner Teri Goldstein took matter into her own hands and sued Microsoft over the forced upgrade. She won and walked away $10,000 richer.
Teri Goldstein tells the Seattle Times that she didn’t want the Windows 10 upgrade, that she hadn’t even heard of Windows 10, but one day she found it installed on her system only to have it crashing regularly. It proved very costly for her small travel agency business.
She says that her computer was unusable “for days at a time” after the forced upgrade and reaching out to Microsoft Support didn’t help her case. Goldstein took it a step further and filed a lawsuit against Microsoft in which she sought damages for lost wages and a new computer.
Microsoft decided to not let the matter go any further and cut a $10,000 cheque, but the company is quick to point out that this settlement is not an admission of guilt on its part, rather a decision to not get involved in a lengthy legal process. I assume the company saw a chance to skimp out on hefty legal fees and took it. Microsoft says it’s going to look into the particulars of the forced upgrade on her computer.
Nevertheless, a precedent has now been set, and there are many who claimed that they were forced into a Windows 10 upgrade. It won’t be shocking to see if more people step forward demanding similar compensation from Microsoft.

Amazon is among the few online video streaming services that currently offer content streaming high dynamic range or HDR. It started offering 4K HDR content last year and today it announced support for another, and better, HDR format. Dolby Vision HDR content is now available for streaming from Amazon Video.
Amazon Video now has support for both HDR formats though content in each is limited at this point in time, the library will be expanded to include additional titles in the future.
The second season of Amazon’s original series Bosch is now available for streaming Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range format. Several Sony Pictures movies are included in the lineup as well, movies such as Men in Black 3, Salt, Pineapple Express, Elysium, The Smurfs 2, and others which can be purchased digitally from Amazon.
Amazon Video may support both formats now but it’s not the only streaming service to have both feathers in its cap. Streaming giant and Amazon Video rival Netflix already has support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10 (otherwise known as normal HDR format), while Vudu also has support for Dolby Vision HDR. Amazon isn’t really breaking any new ground here.
Bear in mind that you will need to have a TV that supports HDR content in order to enjoy TV shows and movies in high dynamic range, don’t expect to get the same experience on a normal TV.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 has been launched today, it’s the first 11 inch Chromebook from HP to feature a touchscreen display. Chromebooks tend to be cheap notebooks and that’s the case with this new one as well. It’s priced below $200 and is great for budget conscious consumers who don’t mind relying on a cloud-based operating system. Chromebooks are also very popular among students.
The HP Chromebook 11 G5 has an 11.6 inch sub-HD touchscreen display, customers will be able to opt for a slightly more expensive configuration that offers an HD IPS touchscreen display, and it’s powered by an 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 processor. It weighs 2.51 pounds.
HP says that this Chromebook is powerful enough to handle video calls and multimedia content and that it can speed through productivity tasks. The company also claims that this notebook gets up to 11 hours of battery life on a single charge.
The touchscreen is certainly the biggest selling point of this Chromebook, and considering the fact that Google has confirmed it’s going to bring Android apps and games to Chromebooks, it will prove to be very useful for people who want to access those apps and games and get a familiar experience on the Chromebook.
The HP Chromebook 11 G5 starts at $189 and it’s going to be available from the company’s channel partners starting next month. It will be widely available through retail stores from October.
