Robots are taking over the world. We all know it. Some members of the European Parliament know it too. That’s why robots in the EU may soon be classed as “electronic persons” if the Parliament adopts a new set of rules on the technology. It’s true. The government is talking about robots and their rights.
The drafted motion would mean that robots had “specific rights and obligations,” and that robot owners have to pay social security for any robot they own. This is a reaction to the fact that robots are taking more and more human jobs, which is leading to increased unemployment. The owner would also be responsible for paying specialized taxes and being held accountable for legal liabilities. Wow. A robot tax. That will keep them in check so they don’t take over the world for a while. Not a bad idea.
It gets better. The motion even broaches the subject of the destruction of mankind:
“Ultimately there is a possibility that within the space of some decades AI might surpass human intellectual capacity in a manner which, if not prepared for, could pose a challenge to humanity’s capacity to control its own creation and consequently perhaps also to its capacity to be in charge of its own destiny and to ensure the survival of its species …”
It’s about time these politicians took the robot apocalypse seriously. These are serious issues. Don’t get too excited yet though. This motion still has to pass several hurdles.

The much-awaited Star Wars: Battlefront Bespin DLC has been released today for season pass holders but that’s not all, EA has also released some new content for all players whether or not they own the season pass. Most of the content is obviously hidden behind the DLC paywall so if you want to experience everything that it offers you will have to pay for it. Those who don’t have the season pass will have to wait for two weeks to purchase Bespin on its own.
New content that’s coming to all Star Wars: Battlefront players today includes the Bespin wing guard for the Rebels, the Shock Trooper appearance for the Empire, while the rank cap is being increased from 60 to 70. Palpatine’s honor guard have been updated and replaced with Royal Guards while Leia’s have been replaced with Alderaan Guards.
This new DLC brings Cloud City to Star Wars: Battlefront and introduces Lando Calrissian. Players will join this legendary smuggler and notorious bounty hunter Denger, they even get a new cloud car vehicle to travel through the city. Two new blasters are also included in this expansion.
All of the content included in this DLC has been described in detail on the game’s website. Remember that you will have to purchase the season pass for Star Wars: Battlefront if you want to access Bespin. If you just want to purchase the DLC on its own then you will have to wait for two weeks because it won’t be available as a standalone download until then.

Donald Trump may want to bust open a U.S. history book because he’s about to get schooled.
Chicana slam poet Mercedez Holtry gave the GOP presidential candidate a lesson and a piece of her mind with her poem “We’re Here to Stay,” recently published by Button Poetry’s YouTube channel. She performed the piece in Brooklyn, New York, during the Women of the World Poetry Slam 2016 in March.
The poet, who is from Albuquerque, New Mexico, starts with verses aimed at the thinly veiled discrimination in Trump’s campaign rhetoric, from his slogan to his portrayal of Mexicans:
Your campaign slogan, ‘Let’s Make America Great Again,’ with the unsaid words ‘…by kicking out all the brown people,’ disguised and attached to the end of that statement, aka let’s keep America American. Let’s keep America white. Let’s keep America inclusive by outcasting people who were here before you. What I wanna know is who the fuck taught you history, Donald?
Holtry then goes on to mention everything from Operation Wetback to the Zoot Suit Riots and Arizona’s SB 1070 before telling Trump there is nothing new about his “racist generalizations and assumptions” and warning him that his actions will have consequences in November.
“You’re are not the first to label us mongrels and bandits in our own home, the media has been portraying us this way for years,” she says. “The history books spew forth your ignorance. We have been kept out of America long before your pathetic excuse for a campaign suggested building a wall. You just called out an empire much bigger than your own, just remember Mr. Trump — the flood is coming now more than ever and we, us ‘wetbacks’ are in fact the river. And the river is ancient and the river runs deep and the river will take no prisoners on election day.”
The poet recently shared the poem with her Facebook followers and gave a small insight into what she was feeling when she wrote the piece:
“I wrote this poem with anger in my heart and my people’s pride stirring fire in my blood.”
