Brain-like computers may now be realistic

Power consumption is one of the biggest reasons why you haven’t seen a brain-like computer beyond the lab: the artificial synapses you’d need tend to draw much more power than the real thing. Thankfully, realistic energy use is no longer an unattain…

'Outlast 2' drops you in a desert for a fresh batch of nightmares

The Outlast 2 demo made me jump and shriek in the middle of the E3 show floor, in Microsoft’s rowdy Xbox space where I was surrounded by swashbuckling pirates, roaring racing games and joyous fans. With my clammy fingers gripping an Xbox One controll…

Floating Pool Cloud makes you feel like Mario

floating-pool-clubThe world of NIntendo’s Super Mario Bros. is an extremely varied one, where there are different levels and challenges across various consoles all this while. Of course, each of these levels (or worlds, rather) will come with a unique design that plays to a certain theme. Clouds do feature rather prominently in select levels, and the $249.95 Floating Pool Cloud makes you feel as though you were part of the rotund plumber’s universe.

Basically, the Floating Pool Cloud happens to be an oversized pool float which ensconces bathers in a cloud of luxury. It will measure all of 72″ x 53″, making it more of a waterborne comforter compared to a smaller one-person taut inflatable which won’t do much good at all to those who would like to shift their tanning position halfway through. It delivers a cloud-like feel and buoyancy, but of course, it is rather difficult to ascertain the genuineness of that since no one has basically lived on a cloud before.

SoundCloud Gets Video Ads In The U.S.

soundcloud-sony

Users are always irked by more advertisements but they are a genuine way for services to bring in much-needed revenue so we have to live with advertisements. SoundCloud users should not get alarmed when they start seeing video ads while using the service. It has been confirmed that video ads are coming to SoundCloud in the United States. Video ads will run between tracks when the screen is on and the SoundCloud app is active in the foreground.

SoundCloud is one of the popular online music streaming services with more than 175 million users per month, it’s quite ahead of infamous music streaming service Spotify which recently reached the milestone of 100 million monthly users.

SoundCloud has confirmed that starting today its users in the United States will see video ads in the app. Users will see these ads when they are actively using the app and not when the screen is off and the phone is being used to stream music from the cloud streaming service.

Even though SoundCloud was launched back in 2008 it didn’t introduce advertisements on the platform until two years ago. Soon after that, it came out with a premium offering that enabled users to skip all advertisements. Earlier this year in March it launched SoundCloud Go, a $9.99 per month service that also provides access to a wide variety of licensed full-track recordings.

Nest Thermostats Now Adjust Automatically To Save You Money

NEST-smart-thermostat-04

Many arguments can be made in favor of smart thermostats like the ones Nest makes. They’re smarter than regular thermostats because they’re able to function on their own, learn out habits and adapt, and also save us money. Nest owners can already have their thermostats automatically adjust the home’s temperature while they’re asleep or opt into a rewards program, but the company’s thermostats are getting a new feature which will automatically provide more savings.

Nest calls it the “Time of Savings” feature. The feature saves money by adjusting the house’s temperate based on time-of-use rate plans. Simply put, it’s going to prioritize usage when rates are low and cut back when the rates are high.

Many energy companies provide different pricing throughout the entire day. The price goes up when there’s more demand and it comes down when demand sheds. Nest thermostats will look at that and adjust the temperature accordingly to ensure that users get the best possible saving.

The feature works by looking at the time-of-use energy provider’s current rates based on time of day and will then recalibrate the Nest’s temperature by up to two degrees in order to save money. Users can still set the thermostat manually if they don’t really care about saving a few extra bucks.

SolarCity has signed up a partner to support this Nest feature, the company says that the Time of Savings feature will soon work with other electricity companies as well like Southern California Edison.

Mighty No. 9 Xbox 360 Release Delayed

mighty-no-9

Mighty No. 9 has been delayed so many times that it’s no longer shocking for those who are waiting for it to hear that the title has been delayed yet again. A delay has been confirmed but it’s just limited to one console. It has been confirmed that the Mighty No.9 Xbox 360 release has been delayed due to a bug that was discovered in the game during certification.

Comcept confirmed through a post on its official blog that Mighty No.9 release for Xbox 360 is being delayed. Since the delay has been caused by a bug and it’s nothing major, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of days for it to be cleared up before it can be launched on Microsoft’s previous-generation console.

A certification bug was found in the final round of testing which is why the release on Xbox 360 is being delayed for several days. The bug has been fixed and the game has been resubmitted, the team expects it to go gold within a few days. Hopefully, this will the last time people have to hear about a Mighty No. 9 release delay.

After countless delays, Mighty No. 9 is launching today for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Wii U, and Windows PC. The game will arrive on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita later this year, while versions for Linux and Mac are in final testing.

Xbox 360 owners who backed the game will get a Steam code to download Mighty No. 9 on PC while they wait for the Xbox 360 release.
