Google Maps For Android Now Supports Multiple Destinations

google_maps_multipleSay you’re supposed to be picking up multiple friends to go on a road trip with and you’re not 100% sure where they all stay. Prior to this, you’d have to enter each person’s house at every stop, but the good news is that in an update to Google Maps, it seems that Google has enabled multiple destinations within the app.

As you can see in the screenshots above, users will now be able to enter multiple destinations at once. The app will then take users to the places in that order, meaning that you could pick up one friend after the other and still be able to head to your destination. It is unclear as to what’s the maximum number of destinations you can pick, but right now it seems that it is limited to four.

That being said, it should be noted that this feature is only for Android right now. There does not appear to be an update to the app, meaning that the feature has probably been enabled server-side. However it is possible that users will still to have the latest app in order to see the changes, so if your Google Maps for Android is not version 9.2.1 yet, then you will need to head on over to the Google Play Store for the download.

Protesters Win Access To GOP Convention In Cleveland

A federal judge on Wednesday authorized a new plan allowing protesters at next month’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland to demonstrate in an area that will be readily visible to convention goers.

The new plan, approved by U.S. District Judge Dan Aaron Polster, also cuts in half the size of an “event zone” where demonstrations and mobility will be limited and gives protesters more time to demonstrate.

The agreement between the city of Cleveland and the American Civil Liberties Union resolves weeks of wrangling over the rules for what are expected to be lively protests when Donald Trump is due to become the Republican Party’s official nominee for president at the July 18-21 convention.

Trump campaign events have drawn raucous demonstrations, with some resulting in clashes between his supporters and opponents.

“This settlement is a significant improvement from what the city had previously offered,” Christine Link, executive director for the ACLU of Ohio, said in a statement.

The ACLU sued on behalf of three groups planning to organize thousands of demonstrators, calling the rules too restrictive.

Dan Williams, spokesman for Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, described the changes as “minor” and said he did not believe there would be an increased security risk as a result.

Cleveland originally planned to cordon off 3.3 square miles (8.5 square km) around the convention site as an event zone where free speech mobility would be limited.

After another federal judge struck down the city’s original plan, the two sides settled the lawsuit on Friday and took several days to work out details before revealing the new plan.

The event zone is now 1.7 square miles (4.4 square km).

The new zone frees up parkland where demonstrators will be able to organize before their protests. It also removes the Port of Cleveland and a small public airport for corporate jets and air taxi services from the restricted area.

The main parade route for demonstrators now extends deeper into central Cleveland and will be more visible from the sports arena where the main event will take place, and more within the view of delegates and the media. The previous route took demonstrators further away from the center of town and over a bridge where they would be seen primarily by themselves.

In addition, groups were granted extra staging time between protests.

The ACLU filed the lawsuit on behalf of Citizens for Trump, a Texas-based group that supports the businessman’s campaign; Organize Ohio, a liberal activist group; and Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, a charitable organization.

Can We Create Artificial Gravity?

Can We Create Artificial Gravity?

Yes, we can. We can totally create the artificial gravity seen in movies like 2001: A Space Odyssey or Elysium, it’ll just cost a lot of freaking money and require a lot of freaking resources. Real Engineering explains how centrifugal force works as artificial gravity and estimates (using math cribbed from how much the ISS costs) the cost needed to build it: only around five trillion dollars and 10 years of the world’s total aluminum production. And that’s just for starters.

These Members Of Congress Used Campaign Funds To Buy Guns

More than a dozen Republican members of Congress used campaign contributions to buy guns, ammunition or tickets to gun-related events, a public interest group said Wednesday.

An analysis of campaign finance records shows that since 2004, 13 members of the House or Senate spent a combined $25,526 from their campaign coffers to purchase “guns, ammunition or tickets to gun shows and shooting events,” according to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, a nonpartisan nonprofit.

While campaign dollars are more typically spent on expenses like advertising, travel and legal fees, CREW said lawmakers buy guns as campaign gimmicks or for fundraisers.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) last year spent more than a $1,300 on firearms autographed by gun fans, including musician and NRA board member Ted Nugent and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). The weapons were later raffled off.

Gun giveaways can be legally murky, CREW said, depending on how strictly lawmakers adhere to state rules on the transfer of gun ownership.

Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) spent $2,750 in October at a Houston gun club, which provided event space, gun rental and ammunition for a campaign appearance.

Other lawmakers who CREW said spent campaign money on gun-related items and events were Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), Rep. Bill Flores (R-Texas), Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.), Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.), Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Rep. Jason Smith (R-Ill.)Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Rep. Richard Nugent (R-Fla.), Rep. Duncan D. Hunter (R-Calif.), and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

A CBS News poll this month found that while Americans’ overall gun ownership is at its lowest point since 1978 — 36 percent of people reported having guns, compared with 51 percent more than a year ago — gun sales are at record highs.

Falling gun ownership amid record high gun transactions and gun manufacturing suggest existing gun owners are acquiring even more firearms. The same CBS poll found 19 percent of Americans who live in gun-owning households have 10 or more guns.

The NRA has proven to be a reliable supporter of candidates who further the lobby’s interests. During the 2014 election cycle, the NRA and its committees contributed $809,462 to individual campaign coffers. That figure was dwarfed by the $3.3 million the NRA spent on lobbying, and $27 million in “outside contributions” for committees and Super PACs.

BioShock: The Collection Spotted On 2K’s Website

bioshock collectionLast year we heard rumors that a BioShock Collection could be in the works. In case the name wasn’t obvious, this is basically a collection of all the BioShock games released to date in a single bundle to make it easier for gamers to get into the franchise. A couple of months ago, the bundle was spotted at multiple rating agencies.

In case all of that wasn’t confirmation enough, this time the latest leak comes from the source itself Users on NeoGAF (via Game Informer) have spotted a listing for BioShock: The Collection on 2K’s website itself. The page has since been taken down, but apparently the assets are still on 2K’s servers which suggests that maybe the information went up a little earlier than they had expected.

We can only hope that with this leak that it means that we could be inching closer towards an official announcement. So far not many details about the bundle has been revealed, but it is speculated that it will be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC. While it will probably contain all the games, there is no word on DLCs, although we guess it wouldn’t be surprising if they included those as well.

The franchise’s original developer Irrational Games has been shut down which means that until Take-Two can find a new developer, gamers will have to make do with this collection for now, but don’t worry as Take-Two had previously reassured gamers that the franchise isn’t going anywhere.

Ohio Can Purge Inactive Voters, Federal Judge Rules

By Kim Palmer

CLEVELAND (Reuters) – A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that Ohio’s secretary of state was within his rights to strip thousands of inactive voters from the rolls, rejecting a legal challenge by civil liberties activists who claimed that the purge disenfranchised minorities and the poor.

The decision by U.S. District Judge George C. Smith in a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union could impact the presidential race in Ohio, a key swing state seen as potentially pivotal in the Nov. 8 election. No Republican has won the White House without carrying Ohio.

The ACLU charged in its lawsuit that Ohio Secretary of State John Husted’s policy of removing from the rolls voters deemed inactive over a six-year period violated the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 because it targets minorities and lower-income voters who tend to favor Democrats.

Smith disagreed, finding that the policy was not illegal because it removed voters from the rolls only after they failed to vote and then did not respond to a change of address confirmation.

“Ohio’s procedures of maintaining the voter registration rolls ensure the integrity of the election process,” Smith wrote.

Husted has said that the policy has been in place since the 1990s under both Republican and Democratic secretaries of state.

“While today’s ruling reaffirms that the process Ohio has used for over two decades is constitutional and in line with state and federal law, the best news is that we can put another wasteful lawsuit behind us and focus on the important work of running elections in Ohio,” Husted said in a statement.

Sony Reminds Gamers That PlayStation VR Pre-Orders Ends June 30

playstation_vrThe Sony PlayStation VR will be officially launching on the 13th of October and if you’re hoping to get your hands on the device in time, Sony has reminded users that the 30th of June is the last day that you can pre-order the headsets, otherwise you’ll have to wait until the device has officially gone on sale to purchase it.

According to Sony, “As promised, we’re opening our summer wave of PS VR pre-orders starting Thursday, June 30 at 7:00 AM Pacific on GameStop.com. Supplies are limited, and this is your final chance to pre-order. If you miss out, we will have product available in retail stores nationwide at launch.”

Now as we have seen in the cases of the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, there is a surprisingly huge demand for VR headsets despite their price and despite the somewhat small library of games available. We had previously reported how pre-orders for the headset in Japan are apparently off to a great start.

Even Sony has predicted that there could be some supply constraints at launch. It is possible that this is why pre-orders are closing on the 30th of June so that Sony will have a better idea of how many orders they’ll need to fulfil before concentrating on retail units.

7 Ways To Save Your Sexless Marriage, According To Sex Therapists

In a sexual rut with your partner? Take heart — it’s natural for partners’ sex drives to ebb and flow through the years and things can definitely improve in the bedroom.

Below, sex therapists share seven pieces of advice that have worked for real couples they’ve counseled through the years.

1. Don’t assume your spouse is uninterested in having sex.

Don’t jump to conclusions about your partner’s sex drive without consulting him or her. Take the time to reach out, said New York City-based sex therapist Gracie Landes, pointing to the example of a client who assumed her husband was disinterested in sex based off another therapist’s observation.

“When they came to see me, the husband told us how alienated he felt by this low sex drive diagnosis from afar,” Landes recalled. “He said the advice didn’t fit him and sex no longer felt safe because he knew it would later be scrutinized.”

In the couple’s sex therapy sessions, Landes explained that most people are over the honeymoon phase after roughly two years and have to work at an active sex life.

“Long-term couples need to plan intimacy dates, bringing back that positive anticipation about being together,” she explained. “Today, the couple I worked with is having regular sex that works for both of them, that fits their lifestyle and their schedules.”

2. Acknowledge any resentment you may feel related to intimacy — then, take turns initiating sex.

If you hear “no, not tonight, honey” enough times, resentment and shame about your desire is bound to build up — and that resentment usually bleeds into other areas of your relationship and lives. When this happens, Los Angeles-based sex therapist Moushumi Ghose advises the rejecting partner to recognize that the ball is now in their court to initiate intimacy.

Once the couple is back in the practice of acknowledging each other’s needs, Ghose tells them to take turns initiating sex.

“When couples do this, it this takes the pressure off the person who is always doing the asking,” she said.

3. Schedule sex.

You schedule your kids’ playdates, your doctor’s appointments and acupuncture visits. For couples stuck in passionless marriages, New York City-based sex therapist Michael Aaron advises them to schedule in sex as well.

“This includes not only blocking time, but planning out all of the details,” he explained. “Creating quality experiences requires foresight and planning, right down to negotiating specific sex acts. I often have couples create sex menus that they can choose from, based on interests. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that people want to do more of what feels good.”

4. Talk about your fantasies.

Too often, people in long-term relationships keep their latest sexual fantasies and interests to themselves, said Ghose.

“It’s typically beyond what they want in bed,” she said. “This goes a little deeper and requires self disclosure, for example, expressing a desire for being dominated or maybe they prefer a submissive role. I tell couples to have a heart-to-heart with each other. Sharing their secret fantasies and fetishes helps in the bedroom but it also builds a stronger sense of connection, which fosters deeper intimacy.”

5. Learn to work around any sexual dysfunction.

Sexual dysfunction (including erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation or a lack of vaginal lubrication) often makes partners apprehensive about initiating sex, said Laurel Steinberg, a psychotherapist based in Great Neck, New York

“They fear having lackluster sexual experiences or letting their partners down,” she explained. “Couples simply need to change their mindset and be OK with the fact that the body doesn’t always perform as the mind wishes it did.”

Steinberg said it’s also helpful for couples to widen their definition of quality sex.

“Couples need to realize that there are an infinite variety of ways to delight a partner that don’t depend on an erect penis or vaginal penetration,” she said. “When all types of sexual touch are viewed to be as equally valuable, couples can switch gears and find another trick up their sleeves.”

6. Get out of your head and into your body.

When you’ve been in your head all day because of work, it can be a struggle to connect with your body and tap into your sexual energy with your spouse. To address this problem, Kristin Zeising, a sex therapist in San Diego, California, tells couples to practice tuning into their bodies and being hyper conscious of subtle sexual cues from their partners.

“Use candles, romantic music or massage oil to help heighten your senses and quiet your mind,” she said. “If you notice your thoughts drifting to what the kids are doing or a work deadline, remind yourself that you deserve to be just where you are. You will get the most benefits out of the interaction with your partner if you are present in your body to experience it, not stuck up in your head.”

7. Stop worrying about orgasms.

For couples stressed over the state of their sex lives, Ghose likes to remind them that having an orgasm is not the be-all and end-all of sex.

“If orgasm happens, great — that’s the icing on the cake,” she said. “But sex can also be as simple as a heavy make-out session in the nude, some time together in the bath or even a massage. Encouraging other types of intimacy, that are less intimidating and have less pressure can ease the couple back into great sex.”
