IMAX home theaters are a thing, but they start at $400k

Can’t muster up the energy to travel to your nearest IMAX theater? IMAX will build you a top notch private home theater, but it’ll cost a pretty penny: the prices start at $400,000, and that doesn’t appear to include access to the movies themselves, which can run another $30,000 or more per year. These home theaters have proven popular in … Continue reading

Canada Loves Obama So Much That They Want Him To Violate The U.S. Constitution

When President Barack Obama on Wednesday delivered an address to the Canadian Parliament, Canadian lawmakers loved it so much that they gave him several standing ovations and chanted “Four more years!”

Of course, that would be a violation of the Constitution, as Obama is about to conclude his second and final term in office.

But the Canadian Parliament’s warm welcome to Obama does reflect the close partnership between him and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which he referenced throughout his speech.

Obama, Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto met in Ottawa on Wednesday for a summit between the three North American leaders.

During his speech to Parliament, Obama hailed the two nations’ common goals and collaboration on issues like terrorism and climate change, and celebrated Trudeau’s efforts to welcome Syrian refugees.

As Obama has been doing in his recent speeches, he also took another swipe at presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, calling out leaders who “are tapping into anger and fear, arguing that we must rebuild walls and disengage from a chaotic world, or rid ourselves of the supposed ills of immigrants, all in order to regain control of our lives.”

Some Paint, A Drill, And A Saw Turns An iPhone 6s Into An iPhone 7

What do we know about the iPhone 7 so far? According to the rumors, it is expected to do away with the antenna bands running across the back of the device, although the ones around the top and bottom edges are to remain. It is also expected to come with a dual camera setup, at least for the iPhone 7 Plus, and it has also been rumored to come in a blue finish. The headphone port is also said to be removed to make way for a second set of speakers.

Now it is obviously not a guarantee that these rumors are all true. Perhaps some might be true, like the headphone port one, since we’ve seen other OEMs adopt a similar setup, but the rest is really anyone’s guess. However the folks at PeripateticPandas on YouTube have put together a video that “transforms” the iPhone 6s into an iPhone 7 using nothing but a drill, a saw, and some paint. For those wondering, this is the same group that gave us a “round Apple Watch” last year.

Basically what they did was they cut off the camera on an iPhone and pasted it onto another iPhone 6s. They then soldered some metal to fill the hole of the headphone port, sanded it down flat, and proceeded to drill “speaker holes” where the headphone port used to be. They also taped the phone down, gave it a blue coat of paint, and ta-dah! We have the new “iPhone 7”!

Now obviously it doesn’t “work” the same way the iPhone 7 would, but we guess we’d have to give them props for their ingenuity, even though the abuse to the iPhone was rather painful to watch.

Paul Simon Might Be Done With Music

After a storied, six-decade career, Paul Simon may be done with music.

In an interview with The New York Times, the 74-year-old musician said he’s “coming towards the end” of a legacy that began when he was a teenager performing alongside Art Garfunkel. Speaking to the outlet, Simon said performing has lost its allure and he’s ready to explore other facets of life.

“Showbiz doesn’t hold any interest for me,” he said. “None.”

Simon has been touring across America over the past few months and is preparing for the final leg in his home state of New York. His latest album, “Stranger to Stranger,” received rave reviews and debuted at the top of both the rock and Americana/folk album charts.

As for what’s next? Simon has a European tour in the fall, then plans to travel where the wind takes him.

“I am going to see what happens if I let go,” he told the Times. “Then I’m going to see, who am I? Or am I just this person that was defined by what I did? And if that’s gone, if you have to make up yourself, who are you?”

If this is the end, well, Simon said he doesn’t “have any fear of it.”
