HBO Has Confirmed When Game Of Thrones Will End

Game-Thrones-Season-6
There has been a lot of speculation about when Game of Thrones is going to end. Many would be wishing that the world’s most popular TV show never ends but that’s obviously not possible. It has to end one day. With season 7 being delayed due and the story going through a significant shift in the previous season it appears that the show is going to end soon. HBO has now confirmed when Game of Thrones is going to be done for good.

During the Television Critics Association press tour, HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirmed that Game of Thrones season 8 is going to be the last season for this epic series.

Bloys explained that the showrunners had started this project with the idea of containing it in a certain number of seasons and that he was merely abiding by their desire to end it with season 8. What HBO has effectively done is split the final season into two, so the final 13 episodes are actually split between season 7 and season 8.

The HBO executive also mentioned that the cable network is open to the idea of a spinoff, it would be another show set in Westeros, but the idea has to make sense creatively and appeal to the audience. Just because HBO isn’t opposed to it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

Game of Thrones season 8 is due in 2018.

Major Xbox One Update Arrives With Cortana In Tow

The promised new major update for Xbox One which has been in preview for a few weeks now has finally been released for everybody. The Xbox One summer update brings some highly anticipated features to the console such as the Cortana personal digital assistant. It’s currently available for those who are in the United States and UK, Cortana on Xbox One has been designed to look and feel just like its Windows 10 counterpart.

This means that most of the queries that work on Cortana for Windows will work on the Xbox One as well. Console owners will also be able to use Cortana to see what their friends are playing, control media playback, set up parties, and more.

Another big feature included in this update is background music. Pandora is just one of the services that support background music. The feature enables players to continue playing music while they launch a game, the music will continue to play in the background as they indulge themselves in playing their favorite game.

A significant number of tweaks and minor improvements are onboard all of which have been detailed on the official Xbox One blog as well as in the video posted above. The summer update for Xbox One is now being rolled out for all consoles.

Driveclub VR Confirmed As PlayStation VR Launch Title

driveclub-vr
Sony has promised a fair number of launch titles for the PlayStation VR headset when it arrives later this year and now you can add another title to the list. It has been confirmed that Driveclub VR is going to be a PlayStation VR launch title. It’s going to be released in time for the virtual reality headset’s release in October.

Driveclub was supposed to be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 when the console came out back in late 2013 but it was plagued with delays. It was eventually released over a year after it was supposed to be out.

Driveclub VR has reportedly been created by the original development team that worked on the PS4 version of this game. Hopefully, Driveclub VR won’t have the same issues at launch like Driveclub did.

This launch title for the PlayStation VR is going to come with new tracks and will enable players to look at the cars from multiple angles while they are engrossed in play. It has not been made clear whether Driveclub VR is just a limited VR experience or whether it’s a proper game like the original title. We’ll have to wait until that information arrives.

PlayStation VR is going to be released on October 13th so expect Driveclub VR to arrive around the same time.

Man Jumps From 25,000 Feet Without A Parachute, You Won’t Believe What Happened Next

If you’re not a professional skydiver but you want to do it anyway with a professional in tandem, chances are that you would want to be assured of maximum security before you decide to jump out of an airplane from a height of several thousand feet. Even if you’re a professional you wouldn’t want to jump out of a plane without a parachute but you do have to go out of your comfort zone a little when you’re trying to make history and professional skydiver Luke Aikins certainly made history when he jumped from 25,000 feet with no parachute on.

Don’t assume the worst. He survived as he nailed the drop into a net on the ground which was roughly as big as a third of a football field. Massive respect for the 42 year old who did what I probably wouldn’t do even if I had 42 lives.

Aikins was in a free fall for about two minutes after jumping out of a plane at 25,000 feet. He flipped onto his back at the very last moment and made it safely into the net. He has now become the first person to pull off something like this and is probably going to hold the record to himself for a considerable amount of time.

You can watch his incredible achievement in the video posted above. Remember to breathe.

Kanye West Calls On Apple To Buy Tidal

kanye-west
Rapper Kanye West is popular for a variety of reasons, one of them being the tweet storms we often witness from him. The latest isn’t aimed at any celebrity, it’s actually aimed at Apple. The rapper called on Apple to buy Tidal, the fledging music streaming service owned by his friend and rap mogul Jay-Z. It merits mentioning here that there have been rumors about Apple mulling a possible acquisition of Tidal. Even Samsung was rumored to be interested in it at one point in time.

West is of the view that Apple’s rivalry with Tidal – due to Apple Music – will prove to be detrimental to the music industry which is why he’s calling on the two companies to agree to an acquisition.

One of the tweets he sent out imploring Apple CEO Tim Cook to acquire Tidal said “Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve,” though I’m not sure if that’s going to sit well with Cook.

Apple Music and Tidal may be competitors in the sense that they are competing in the same market but the former is well ahead. It has more than 11 million paying subscribers while Tidal has so far only been able to bring in 3 million paying subscribers.

One of the reasons why Apple was believed to be interested in acquiring Tidal was the availability of exclusives, Apple would like to have those exclusives on Apple Music to better compete with Spotify, which is its number one competitor in this market.

Apple hasn’t ruled out an acquisition of Tidal just yet but whether or not West’s tweet storm is going to help it make its mind remains to be seen.

Amazon Patents Noise-Cancelling Headphones That Just Might Save Lives

amazon-noise-cancelling-headphones
People like noise-cancelling headphones for a reason. They tune out any ambient noise to ensure that users have a great listening experience. Now that’s great for when you’re traveling on an airplane or on a bus but the noise-cancelling feature can do harm if you’re around people who might need your help, because even when they call out to you, you won’t be able to hear them. Amazon has patented a new kind of noise-cancelling headphones that address this very issue and might potentially help save lives.

Amazon has been awarded a patent for noise-cancelling headphones that automatically click off when they hear certain frequencies, sound patterns, and even keywords like a name. This would enable the user to immediately hear ambient noise and react in whatever way they need to.

The way this would work is that the headphones will have an array of microphones built into the ear pads. They will constantly be listening for specific frequencies or keywords so when someone calls out your name, they will automatically shut off the music and let you hear ambient noise.

There are many noise-cancelling headphones on the market right now that have a manual passthrough button which when pressed allows the user to hear ambient noise. While that’s a welcome addition, many would appreciate having an automatic feature like the one Amazon has created to ensure that they stay in the loop even when they can’t hear anything other than what’s playing.

Amazon has only patented this technology right now, it’s unclear if and when these headphones will see the light of day.
