Mercedes Discontinues Potentially Misleading Ad About Autonomous Driving

You might have seen a new Mercedes-Benz ad on TV recently when made implied comparisons between the company’s new E-Class sedan and its F 015 autonomous or self-driving concept car. The ad was meant to highlight the new E-Class sedan’s semi-autonomous driving features but following criticism from consumer groups over the comparison with the concept car, Mercedes-Benz has decided to discontinue the advertisement.

The ad starts off why showing the F 015 and the E-Class side by side. It asks if the world is really ready “for a car that can drive itself,” and goes on to add that “the future is here… a Mercedes-Benz concept car that’s already a reality.”

Some might call that a bit misleading because even though the new E-Class has many semi-autonomous driving aids, it’s not fully autonomous like the F 015 concept is imagined to be so a direct comparison with the concept doesn’t feel right.

One of the features that the E-Class has helps the driver in steering and maintaining space in the lane but drivers are required to have their hands on the wheel at all times. That’s far from the fully autonomous future that the company envisages with the F 015 concept.

The ad has now been pulled from the company’s TV rotation and it has even removed it from the YouTube page. A spokesperson for the company has said that it was not the intent to cause any confusion among consumers.

onlinegaming

The world of online casino gaming has increased by tenfold. Now there are hundreds of online casino styled gaming websites on the market and players from around the globe have won some serious cash at them. But playing online games for real money can be dangerous if not done properly. While many gaming websites are super secure, others simply lack the security needed to protect their players. Getting your information and money stolen because of lack of security is a growing problem for online casino gamers. But luckily there are some things that you can do as a player to keep yourself safe.

Five Ways to Find a Safe Online Gaming Website

  1. Choose a well-known website: Instead of just playing at the first online gaming website you come across, do your homework. Only choose to play at gaming websites that have been around for a least a few years. One really secure gaming website that has been around for a while is Royal Vegas mobile casino. This website has all the games you need and they also have many attractive giveaways. Royal Vegas mobile casino is a secure site that has all the protection you will ever need. You can feel safe playing here and thousands of people use this website each and every day.
  1. Read reviews: Before choosing a gaming website, make sure to find some online reviews and read them. Even if the website you are looking to join is well known, there still may be some security issues. By reading reviews written by people who have already played at the website, you can better determine if your information and money will be safe. If an online gaming website has many negative reviews, it’s probably a wise choice not to go with that one.
  1. Make sure their payment system is secure: Before depositing any money make sure the gaming website you are using has secure payment methods. If things look suspicious when signing up to make a deposit, you might want to go to another website. Your bank account and the money that is in it could be at risk.
  1. Use proper passwords: Make sure when setting up your new account that you always make your password hard to hack. Use as many numbers and letter combinations as possible and avoid short passwords. This will keep you safe in case someone decides to hack your account. Also, avoid using the same password that you use for other websites.
  1. Make sure they have virus protection in place: Always choose a website that has virus protection put into place. This will keep you safe from hackers and your information will be locked away tightly. But don’t just leave the virus protection up to the online casino. Always make sure that you are also using virus protection software on your smart device. This will help keep you 100% safe while gaming on the go. Many people do not realize the importance of virus protection software but it can really save you from a lot of financial headaches.

Loopd reveals first engagement sensor for events in the world

loopdBack in the early days of conventions and meetings, the attendees are tracked through their registration details. Where they move about on the showfloor can be difficult to track, as well as who they talk to, and if you were to embark on that path, a whole lot of paperwork is required. However, if one were to provide each conference attendee with a GPS tracker of sorts, it would definitely be a violation of personal privacy. How about introducing this idea in a non-threatening manner? This has resulted in this beautiful piece of wearable technology known as Loopd.

Loopd is touted to be the world’s first engagement sensor that was created specially for events, and it sports a new sensor that merges AES128 encryption, tactile touch capability, Bluetooth LE connectivity, an LED Light Pipe, complete with modular attachments, as well as a 6 week battery life.

This is the second-generation wireless sensor that will target attendee networking, content exchange and activity tracking, where it makes use of Loopd’s advanced and patented Bluetooth Low-Energy proximity features in order to enable the first split-second, passive wireless exchange of mission-critical information at conferences.

It is easily activated via a unique tactile touch feature, where the one-inch-wide, dark-blue circular Loopd wearable incorporates a unique LED light pipe. Once it is touched lightly by users, the flexible LED pipe will emit a streaming yellow light top to bottom. This streaming light emission confirms that digital business cards, marketing materials and other mission-critical content have made the move between sensors up to the Cloud.

Such activity tracking will provide convention and conference organizers get a better idea on who goes where, allowing them to come up with a better curated experience in the future. While the sensor will initially be released as a fob-like attachment for conference lanyards, the future iterations are said to include a badge with a back clip as well as an intelligent insert for a wristband. Other form factors will include the likes of tactile touch, Bluetooth LE and LED light pipe.

Hillary Clinton Reveals Her Mom Was A Fox News Watcher

Hillary Clinton revealed on Sunday that her mother, Dorothy Rodham, was a big fan of Fox News, the cable network that has devoted more than a fair bit of programming to critical coverage of her daughter.

“She was a big Fox viewer, I will tell you,” Clinton told Fox News’ Chris Wallace in her first post-convention interview.

Wallace, struck by the revelation, asked if Clinton was being serious.

“Yes, she was,” Clinton replied. “And she would get upset. I’ll be honest with you. She would get upset when some of the people you had on would say these terrible things about me. And that was when I was a senator running for president and for the first two years of being secretary of state. I would say, ‘Well, mom, if it upsets you so much, why do you keep watching?’ She said, ‘Well, I like some of the people and I have to know what the other ones are saying so I can understand and be against it.’”

“So, I think she had a very strategic reason for watching. She said to me one time, ‘You know, Hillary, I don’t understand. You were such a wonderful child to raise, and you never gave me a minute’s trouble or worry, then you become an adult and you get into politics and I just worry all the time.’”

And now we know why Fox News has such strong viewership: you watch to love and you watch to hate.

Joe Biden Won't Rule Out A Future Run For Office

Joe Biden hasn’t ruled out a run for office after his tenure as vice president ends in January.

Speaking to ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Biden said he had no plans for staying in elected office ― but he couldn’t say for sure.

“I’ve learned a long time ago ― you don’t say anything for absolutely certain,” Biden said. “There’s that whole Satchel Paige phrase, you know, they asked Satchel Paige, he won a game on his 47th birthday as a pitcher. And they said, ‘Satch, what’s it like, 47 winning the big?’ He said, ‘Boys, that’s not how I look at age.’ He says, ‘How do you look at it?’ He said, ‘I look at it this way, how old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?’ I’m 44, so I’m ready to go.”

Biden is 73 and will turn 74 in November. But he also objectively loves being in the arena and is deeply invested in the political process ― now spearheading the so-called moonshot for a cure for cancer for this administration. So, we shall see.

A Citizen's Letter to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump

After a long and contentious process, you have won the nomination. Yet during that same process, Americans have lost. You need to know that. This letter is a plea to keep it in mind during the general election campaign.

I have always believed in our system of government. I have devoted my professional life to it, first in the Air Force and then in civilian service. I know we have faults, having lived through the struggle for civil rights, the divisions of Vietnam, political assassinations, Watergate, and the partisan fighting of the last three decades. But each time, it seemed, we were able to stop the shouting and find enough common ground to heal and move forward.

It does not seem so now. We no longer just differ on issues. Too many don’t believe their political opponents – and many of their fellow Americans – are even worthy of respect. Instead of debating, they demonize. Instead of drawing different conclusions from the same facts, they search for only those facts that support them. They see the political system not as a way to resolve arguments but as an enemy, forgetting that when they delegitimize it, they leave us with nothing else to use. They see the Constitution not as a set of values and rules to responsibly resolve differences but as a tool to quote from to bludgeon opponents.

So this is my plea. Don’t make this problem worse. Don’t divide our country. Demand that your supporters don’t either. I know elections are won by drawing distinctions between your opponent and you, including on issues of character, but you don’t have to stoke hatred through cruel insults, crude language, and remarks that demean each other and other Americans.

Two of our greatest presidents, Washington and Lincoln, deserve that honor because one of them, a model of prudence and respect, created fidelity to our new form of government and the other restored it. They also sought to unite Americans – as Lincoln put it, with “malice toward none, with charity for all.” Be that kind of politician.

Remember that how you campaign determines your ability to govern. The electoral process is aimed not only at providing a winner but at forming a government that has legitimacy. If you use the next three months to tear America apart, half of America will hate you even if you win. Four years will not be time enough to put us back together.

What if you want to run a respectful campaign, but your opponent will not? This is another part of my plea: display moral courage, a quality essential in a president. Run a campaign that honors America. Even if you lose, we need your example. It might shame your opponent into being respectful (or risking defeat for failing to do so). Do what is right for us, even if it seems wrong for you.

Restore our faith in truth. Many Americans think you lie. You need to accept responsibility for this. When you are selective with facts and spin the truth, you break the bond of trust. Without trust you cannot govern. Even worse, you convince many that there is no such thing as truth, that every fact is a fiction. We cannot solve our problems if we have no respect for facts.

Finally, be a candidate for all Americans. You can’t be if you think that winning a majority means you can ignore the minority. That’s what your detractors fear. In your campaign, you need to demonstrate the ability to respect and find some common ground with those who disagree with you.

When Gerald Ford took the oath after Nixon resigned, he said: “As we bind up the internal wounds of Watergate . . . let us restore the golden rule to our political process, and let brotherly love purge our hearts of suspicion and of hate.” A month later, Ford pardoned Nixon to heal the nation, even though it might (and eventually did) cost him the presidency in1976. That is a model of leadership too rare in politics today.

Please, Ms. Clinton and Mr. Trump, run a campaign that strengthens America.
