Netflix Wants To Release Their Marvel TV Shows Faster

jessica-jones-netflixSo far Netflix’s Marvel TV show releases have been released at the rate of about 2 shows a year. For example last year we got Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and this year we got Daredevil season 2 and come 30th September, we’ll be seeing Luke Cage make its debut. With Jessica Jones season 2 confirmed, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and the Punisher in the works, releasing 2 shows a year means that viewers will be in for quite a long wait.

The good news is that this is something Netflix hopes to address in the future. Speaking to IGN at the TCA (Television Critics Association), Netflix head Ted Sarandos stated that the company was looking to try and reduce as much downtime between seasons as possible, although he also mentioned that by trying to release them quicker, it could have a negative impact on the quality.

According to Sarandos, “I doubt that we could produce at the quality that they produce at that speed. But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them.” That being said, 2017’s schedule is a bit uncertain at this point. Netflix’s plate does seem a bit full at the moment, especially with them officially confirming that Daredevil would be getting a third season. The upside is that by taking their time, it keeps customers subscribed longer.

Fan-made StarCraft RPG Is Now In Open Beta

Back in 2011, we learnt about a fan-made RPG based on the StarCraft universe, which coincidentally enough is called StarCraft Universe. Basically if you’ve ever wondered what StarCraft would have looked like if it had been chosen to be an MMORPG instead of Warcraft, this comes pretty close.

That being said, the folks behind the game, Upheaval Arts, has announced that the game is now in open beta, meaning that if you’re so inclined, you can go ahead and check it out for yourself if you’re curious about it. The game itself is free, but since StarCraft ultimately belongs to Blizzard, its developers are asking for donations instead if you like what you see.

“Today we announce the Open Beta of StarCraft Universe: Beyond Koprulu, and the full launch slated to release one month from now! We don’t own the intellectual property on StarCraft, so we cannot sell SCU, but we ask those who are able and enjoy what we’ve done, to back us on Indiegogo, a platform endorsed by Blizzard for community developers to receive donations.”

The game has been met with challenges along the way of its development. Blizzard’s lawyers weren’t too thrilled about the project at the start, but after a change of name and some discussions with Blizzard, the company actually gave them the greenlight to proceed. The donations basically helps the developers maintain the game and we suppose rewards them for their efforts. If you’d like to fund them, there is an Indiegogo page setup for this purpose. In the meantime you can check out the game’s cinematic trailer above, and the gameplay trailer in the video below.

Microsoft Launches ‘Pix’ Camera App For iOS

Last week we reported that Microsoft was planning on launching a new camera app called Pix for iOS. If you are an iOS user who isn’t 100% satisfied with the default iOS camera app, or if other third-party solutions aren’t quite cutting it, you might be interested to learn that the app has since been released.

Just in case you missed our earlier report, Pix has been billed as being a smarter camera app. It does have some Live Photos-like features, in which it knows when to take a photo, thus allowing users to capture moments they normally would not. The app also relies on artificial intelligence to adjust the camera settings and to enhance the photos taken.

According to Microsoft, “Microsoft Pix captures a burst of 10 frames with each shutter click – some from before the tap – and uses artificial intelligence to select up to three of the best, unique shots. Before the remaining frames are deleted, the app uses data from the entire burst to remove noise, and then intelligently brightens faces, beautifies skin and adjusts the picture’s color and tone. These best, enhanced images are ready in about a second.”

Now whether or not the app is for you is up to you to decide, but if you are curious, it is a free download so fire up the iTunes App Store and check it out if you’re so inclined.

Gamer Plays Pokemon GO While Using Tesla’s Autopilot Feature

ModelX_Autopilot_Pokemon-GoEarlier this month you might have a report about a Pokemon GO player crashing his car while he was playing the game. It was a silly thing to do and thankfully no one died as a result of the accident. However it seems that some drivers believe that driving and playing the game is possible, as long as you have a Tesla Model X with autopilot mode enabled.

This was something that a certain Gary Zhou attempted to do as he traveled from North Carolina toward Pennsylvania. He even recorded a video which has since been taken down, but basically it shows him playing Pokemon GO while in the driver’s seat with autopilot mode turned on, something that we do not recommend you guys to try out for yourselves.

According to Zhou, “For those of you who are not too familiar with some of the dynamics in Autopilot, one of the things I’ve noticed, I’m not sure exactly what the cutoff is, but I believe under 45 or 40 mph – as long as there’s a good amount of surroundings and clear lane markers as you can see here – it will never ask you to kind of, remind you to put your hands back on the steering wheel.”

He also adds, “So, in essence Autopilot works pretty much 100-percent fully autonomous in bumper to bumper traffic, minus of course lane changes and things like that, and again, it’s fantastic for catching Pokémon on the Go.” Not only is this highly dangerous, but you might recall that last month there was a Tesla accident involving autopilot that resulted in the death of its driver. It’s almost as if people never learn.

Twitch Clips Are Now Available For All Channels

twitch clipsBack in May, Twitch announced a new feature called Clips. Basically these are 30 second highlights that users can create from videos, meaning that if there is a particular moment in a stream that’s worth checking out, you can create a clip of it and share it with friends as opposed to users having to sit through the entire video, which can run for hours.

However at the time of announcement, the feature was limited to its partnered channels, but the good news is that in a post on its blog, Twitch has announced that they have made the feature open to all channels on Twitch, so if this is a feature that you’ve been looking forward to, you should go ahead and take it for a spin on your favorite channel.

According to Twitch, “Whether you’re watching a tournament with thousands of other viewers or hanging out on stream with a couple friends, when something unforgettable happens, you can clip the action and spread the hype to everyone you know. Just hit the Clip button on the video player or use the keyboard shortcuts (ctrl+X on PC and alt+X on Mac) to clip the best moment from any live stream.”

Yahoo Releases Their Redesigned Messenger App For Desktop

yahoo messengerLast year Yahoo announced that they were releasing a redesigned Yahoo Messenger. The redesigned platform was initially launched for iOS and Android devices, as well as for the web version of Yahoo Messenger. However if you’ve always preferred native desktop software, you’re in luck as the desktop version of the revamped Yahoo Messenger has since been launched.

In an announcement on Yahoo’s Tumblr page, it reads, “Today, we’re delighted to announce that you can enjoy all of these features you’ve grown to know and love in our brand-new Yahoo Messenger desktop app for Windows and Mac.” Basically if you’ve been using the app on your mobile and on the web, the desktop version will be similar.

This reminds a bit of WhatsApp which first launched on mobile, followed by the web, and then the desktop. This could come in handy if you’d rather not have your browser open all the time, and if you’d rather not have to keep checking your phone and replying to messages if you’re in front of the computer already.

The desktop app will also be getting the unsend button which basically lets users take back the last message they sent. For those who are interested in downloading the app for themselves, head on over to the Yahoo Messenger website for the details.

Make An Educated Vote This Election

Michelle Obama owned the ‪#‎DemsInPhilly‬ Convention! Speeches like this give me hope that our country is able to head in the right direction.

During her speech, I realized that there’s one call-to-action people aren’t hearing this election season: Make an educated vote.

Emotions are high and a lot is at stake, but here are some things I hope my peers understand on the road to November.

The path we are on will define who we are as Americans.
Will we choose to spread hatred, bigotry, fear and repeat history with Trump? Or, will we choose progress, forward-thinking and education with Clinton?

Elections are not about picking sides.
Elections should not be about Republicans vs. Democrats, red vs. blue, right vs. left. Elections should be about how we want to evolve as a country and work together for a better future.

Who I am does not define my vote.
I am gay. I am Mexican. I am a Texan. I am Jesuit educated. I am many things, but I am not dedicated to one party. I refuse to put myself inside a box and blindly vote because “that’s the way I’ve always been” or “my family always votes this way” or any other excuse for not making an uneducated vote.

Consensus: I can live with that and support it.
None of us have to like this election or these candidates. None of us has to vote. However, it is our duty to vote. It is our duty to vote for a candidate who is best able to serve our country.

Don’t assume. Listen!
I ask you to listen to Trump and Clinton. You’ll hear a difference. One takes us back as a country and another continues to take us forward. Swallow your pride and put aside your party hat.

My call-to-action: Make an educated vote this election.

In closing, I share my favorite line from the First Lady:

“Don’t let anyone ever tell you that this country isn’t great, that somehow we need to make it great again. Because this right now is the greatest country on Earth. And as my daughters prepare to set out into the world, I want a leader who is worthy of that truth.”

Good Girls Have Abortions, Too, NARAL Chief Tells DNC

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

PHILADELPHIA ― NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue confronted head-on the stereotype that women who have abortions should be ashamed during remarks Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention.

“About 1 in 3 American women have abortions by the age of 45, and the majority are mothers just trying to take care of the families they already have,” Hogue said. “You see, it’s not as simple as ‘Bad girls get abortions and good girls have families.’ We are the same women at different times in our lives, each making decisions that are the best for us.”

“We need a president who has the experience, the wisdom and the grit to stand up against the bullies. We need a president who knows that women’s rights are human rights,” Hogue said.

Hogue shared her own experience of terminating a pregnancy earlier in life before starting a family.

“To succeed in life, all we need are the tools, the trust and the chance to chart our own path. I was fortunate enough to have these things when I found out I was pregnant years ago. I wanted a family, but it was the wrong time,” Hogue said.

“I made the decision that was best for me — to have an abortion — and was able to get compassionate care at a clinic in my own community. Now, years later, my husband and I are parents to two incredible children. My story is not unique,” she said.

The NARAL leader also slammed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and vice presidential nominee Mike Pence for their stances on abortion rights, and singled out Pence for actions he has taken as governor of Indiana and a member of Congress to limit access to abortion services.

“Together, Donald Trump and Mike Pence have united to form the ‘Make Misogyny Great Again’ ticket,” Hogue said. “It’s not abortion that bothers them. It’s empowering women to live our own lives.”
