Britney Spears Singing Karaoke To Britney Spears Will Drive You Crazy

We could watch this until the world ends.

Earlier this week, James Corden teased that Britney Spears would be joining “Carpool Karaoke,” but this will make you move. In addition to singing “Toxic” like she did in the promo for the segment, Britney rocked out to “Womanizer,” “Oops!… I Did It Again” and even “…Baby One More Time.”

Plus, the pair got real. Spears told Corden that she’s done with men, but the singer wouldn’t mind having three more kids. Spears also revealed some of her former aliases for checking into hotels, aka Anita Dick.

(Yeah. We see what you did there, Britney.)

The anticipation is killin’ me. Just play it, baby, one more time.

“The Late Late Show with James Corden” airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. ET on CBS.

Col. Sanders' Secret KFC Recipe For Fried Chicken May Have Just Been Revealed Online

Call it ChikiLeaks.

One of the most famous “secret recipes” in the world may have just been revealed online.

A relative of Col. Harland Sanders, the late founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, appears to have shown off a copy of his blend of 11 herbs and spices to the Chicago Tribune.

Joe Ledington, a nephew of the poultry pioneer, shared the recipe from a scrapbook he says belonged to his father’s sister, Claudia Ledington, who married Sanders in 1949.

You can see the full recipe in the clip above and image below, but the blend is largely made of ingredients found on nearly any home spice rack ― with one possible exception, especially at the time the recipe was first written.

The main ingredient is white pepper,” Ledington told the Tribune. “I call that the secret ingredient. Nobody (in the 1950s) knew what white pepper was. Nobody knew how to use it.”

The company insists this isn’t the recipe.

Many people have made these claims over the years and no one has been accurate — this one isn’t either,” a spokesperson emailed the Louisville Courier-Journal. “Though, we imagine that might make some tasty fried chicken, too.”

Ledington disagrees.

“I don’t want to get in an argument with Yum! Brands about it but … I’m pretty sure that it’s pretty close to the original,” he told the Courier-Journal.

KFC says on its website that the secret recipe is locked inside a 770-pound digital safe protected by two feet of concrete and motion sensors.

The company says:

And the secret blend of KFC’s 11 herbs and spices is so secret that not even the company that produces the blend knows the exact formulation. The spice blend is shipped from different locations in the United States before the final blending. We’ve got to keep it a secret from those imitators creating KFC copycat recipes that just don’t come close to the real deal.

News organizations around the world quickly put the recipe to the test.

The Daily Mail gave it a positive review, but found chicken bought at the chain was “slightly sweeter and saltier.”

Comparing my fried chook to some KFC from down the road, there’s an astounding difference,” declared Stuff.co.nz. “I think the Colonel may be sad about his legacy’s state of affairs.”

It was delicious,” declared News.com.au. “But not yet something I could pass off as KFC.”

It seems there may be one missing ingredient ― something Col. Sanders didn’t use. When the Tribune did its own taste test, they also found it wasn’t quite like KFC… until someone added MSG.

“That did the trick,” wrote the paper’s food and dining editor, Joe Gray. “Our chicken was virtually indistinguishable from the batch bought at KFC.”

The company confirmed to the newspaper that they do indeed add MSG to its Original Recipe chicken ― perhaps making it not quite the original recipe after all.

Judge Who Sentenced Brock Turner Quits Criminal Court

The California judge whose lenient rape sentence of former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner sparked national outrage has asked to quit presiding over criminal trials.

Santa Clara County Judge Aaron Persky will be reassigned to civil court in September at his request, according to a statement from the presiding judge first obtained by The Mercury News.

“While I firmly believe in Judge Persky’s ability to serve in his current assignment, he has requested to be assigned to the civil division, in which he previously served,” Presiding Judge Risë Jones Pichon said in the statement. “Judge Persky believes the change will aid the public and the court by reducing the distractions that threaten to interfere with his ability to effectively discharge the duties of his current criminal assignment.”

Persky has been the target of intense criticism and a recall campaign since June, when he sentenced Turner to six months in jail for raping an unconscious woman on the Stanford campus. The judge disregarded the prosecutor’s argument for a six-year prison term, saying, “A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him. He added: “I think he will not be a danger to others.”

Turner will likely only serve three months.

Persky will continue to preside over criminal cases until next month. He recused himself from a new sex crimes case this week.

His transfer will not be permanent. Judges are rotated every year, and he could transfer back to criminal court in the future.

The switch won’t affect a push for his recall in November 2017, according to a representative of the group Recall Judge Aaron Persky, led by Stanford law professor Michele Dauber.

“The issue of his judicial bias in favor of privileged defendants in sex crimes and domestic violence still needs to be addressed by the voters of Santa Clara County,” a statement emailed to The Huffington Post reads. “In our opinion, Judge Persky is biased and should not be on the bench.”

Persky’s sentencing of Turner was widely denounced. A juror on the panel that convicted Turner of three felony sex crimes said he was in “shock” by the light punishment.

“After the guilty verdict I expected that this case would serve as a very strong deterrent to on-campus assaults, but with the ridiculously lenient sentence that Brock Turner received, I am afraid that it makes a mockery of the whole trial and the ability of the justice system to protect victims of assault and rape,” a letter to Persky from the anonymous juror read.

Because of the outcry, California lawmakers are considering a bill that would impose minimum sentences for sexual assaults committed on an unconscious or severely intoxicated person.

Obama To Quadruple Hawaii Monument, Creating World’s Largest Protected Marine Area

President Barack Obama, who’s already protected more public acres than any U.S. president, will add to his legacy of conservation by quadrupling the marine monument surrounding the remote Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, the White House announced.

The designation, expected to take effect Friday, will expand Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument from 139,797 square miles to 582,578 square miles, making it the largest marine protected area on the planet.

The White House said the move “provides critical protections for more than 7,000 marine species,” including federally protected monk seals, whales and sea turtles, as well as black coral ― the longest-living marine species in the world.

The expansion also is expected to make the area more resilient to climate change-related threats, including rising sea levels, warming ocean temperatures and acidification.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), who introduced the proposal in June, called Obama’s move “one of the most important actions an American president has ever taken for the health of the oceans.”

“Expanding Papahānaumokuākea will replenish stocks of ‘ahi, promote biodiversity, fight climate change, and give a greater voice to Native Hawaiians in managing this resource,” Schatz said Friday in a statement. “This declaration sets us on a strong path forward for our irreplaceable environment and the generations to come.”

Established in 2006 by President George W. Bush, Papahānaumokuākea was already larger than all of the country’s national parks combined.

The expansion will extend the monument’s protections, including a ban on commercial fishing, from 50 miles to 200 miles around the remote island chain. The area covered by the expanded monument will be nearly four times the size of California, and nearly as big as Alaska.

Matt Rand, director of Pew’s Global Ocean Legacy project, which worked with Native Hawaiians, scientists, community leaders and others in pushing for the expansion, called Friday’s announcement a “big deal for the planet.”

“We’re just seeing significant environmental degradation globally, and this is a huge step in changing our course,” Rand told The Huffington Post. “I hope not only does it protect this ecosystem, but I hope it inspires the world.”

Papahanaumokuakea will dwarf the United Kingdom’s Pitcairn Islands in the Pacific Ocean, and the Chagos Marine Reserve in the Indian Ocean, which are 322,000 square miles and 247,000 square miles, respectively. Earlier this year, communities in a remote archipelago south of Tahiti proposed establishing a 385,000-square-mile ocean sanctuary.

Along with Obama’s latest conservation decision, the White House announced the president will travel to Hawaii next week, where on Wednesday he will address leaders from the Pacific Island Conference of Leaders and the International Union for Conservation of Nature World Conservation Congress. On Thursday he plans to travel to Midway Atoll, located within the Papahānaumokuākea.

The World Conservation Congress kicks off in Honolulu next month. The congress, held every four years, is the world’s largest environmental and nature conservation event.
