Vogue Brazil Photoshopped Models to Look Like They Have Disabilities

In an effort to promote the 2016 Paralympics, Vogue Brazil decided to launch a photo campaign highlighting Renato Leite and Bruna Alexandre, two Brazilian Paralympic athletes. But instead of, you know, just putting them in the campaign, the magazine used two able-bodied models—actors Cleo Pires and Paulo Vilhena—and photoshopped them to look like Leite and Alexandre.

First Proper LG V20 Picture Leaked

lg-sign
LG hopes that its upcoming flagship handset will be able to reverse the fortunes of its mobile business. It has already been confirmed that the LG V20 is going to be the first handset that comes with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. There have been a lot of rumors and reports about this handset but we have yet to see a proper image of the V20. That changes today. Well-known leaker @evleaks has leaked renders of the handset and today he tweeted out a proper picture of LG’s next flagship.

The picture appears to be quite similar to the renders that we have seen so it’s quite likely that this might be the final design of the LG V20. It appears that LG hasn’t really made any major changes to the design as the top speaker grill, secondary ticker display, front camera position and the volume buttons are all where they used to be.

What this picture doesn’t shed light on is the speculation that the LG V20 might have some modular elements like the LG G5. We have yet to see any confirmation of that and this picture doesn’t clear up the matter so we might have to wait until more images are leaked or LG officially announces the handset.

You won’t have to wait for that too long. LG has an event scheduled for September 6th in San Francisco where it will formally unveil the LG V20.

World’s First Self-Driving Taxis Rolled Out In Singapore

nutonomy
Singapore is embracing cars of the future in a big way by authorizing a public trial for self-driving taxis. NuTonomy’s first autonomous cabs have now started picking up passengers in the tiny island nation. Select users will be able to take a free ride in these taxis during the public trial period. A human driver will always be behind the wheel to take over should something go wrong.

Major companies like Google are also working on self-driving cars and their technology has come quite a long way. However, NuTonomy claims that it’s the first company in the world that has already started offering rides in self-driving cars to the public.

It has actually been able to do this before Uber. The world’s biggest ride-sharing service has confirmed that it will soon launch a public trial of its self-driving cars in Pittsburgh within a few weeks.

Rides will be offered in modified Renault Zoe and Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars and will be limited to the One North business district. Passengers must be invited to use the autonomous ride service.

Currently, NuTonomy has put six autonomous cabs on the roads in Singapore but it plans to expand the fleet to a dozen by the end of this year. NuTonomy says that its ultimate goal is to have a full self-driving taxi fleet in Singapore by 2018.

DJI’s New Osmo Plus Features A Zoom Lens

osmo-plus-dji

DJI today announced the launch of a new Osmo gimbal. It’s the handheld version of the stabilizing gimbal and camera that you find on the company’s drones. The DJI Osmo+ features an all-new camera that has a zoom lens which allows for up to 7x digital zoom and 3.5x optical zoom. It’s available for purchase starting today.

DJI Osmo+ features the Zenmuse X3 Zoom camera. It’s an improved version of the Zenmuse Z3 aerial camera that it announced last month.

This 12.4 megapixel camera features a 1/2.3 inch Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor and is capable of shooting video in 4K. The biggest difference here is the presence of optical zoom. The variable aperture of this camera remains at f2.8 at widest angles but comes down to f5.2 when zoomed in.

It’s interesting to note that the highest frame rate the Osmo+ can achieve is 100 frames per second while its predecessor could hit 120 frames per second. The company also says that the Osmo+ has a new “motion timelapse” feature which can help create some amazing motion timelapses.

DJI has also added a bigger battery to the gimbal. The Osmo+ has a 1,225mAh battery which is a good improvement over the 980mAh battery found in the original Osmo gimbal.

The DJI Osmo+ is available now with a price tag of $649.

WhatsApp Will Now Share User Data With Facebook

facebook_whatsapp_icons-1
This was bound to happen. It was predicted when Facebook acquired WhatsApp that this would inevitably happen and the company has indeed confirmed it today. WhatsApp will start sharing user data with Facebook. This includes sharing users’ phone numbers to provide them with “better friend suggestions” as well as “relevant ads.”

Facebook is the world’s largest social network and if you use it, chances are it already has quite a bit of your data, and now it’s going to get even more.

WhatsApp says that it will share basic metrics about the app with Facebook, metrics like how often people use the app. Sharing users’ phone numbers with Facebook will enable the social network to provide better friends suggestions and relevant ads.

In its blog post announcing the changes to its privacy policy, WhatsApp reiterated its resolve to keeping users’ conversations secure and private. It said that even as it coordinates more with Facebook, users’ encrypted messages will remain private and no one else will be able to read them, not WhatsApp, and definitely not Facebook.

The change is being made to enable users to communicate with businesses that matter to them. It provides an example of hearing from your bank about a potentially fraudulent transaction or getting notifications from an airline about a delayed flight. Facebook has been testing these integrations with Messenger and the data sharing between the two companies will enable WhatsApp to start offering similar integrations.
