Microsoft today confirmed the titles that Xbox Live Gold members will receive for free as part of their subscription. Members will get four new free games this month – two for Xbox One and two for Xbox 360. Since the Xbox 360 titles are backwards compatible this means that Xbox One owners actually get four free games as part of their Xbox Live Gold subscription. There are some great titles included in this month’s lineup.
Xbox Live Gold members who have an Xbox One can download Earthlock: Festival of Magic for free during September. It’s a $29.99 value. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China which normally costs $9.99 is going to be available as a free download from September 16th to October 15th.
The $19.99 Forza Horizon is free for Xbox 360 starting September 1st. It will remain free through September 15th. Starting September 16th, owners of the previous generation console can download Mirror’s Edge for free until September 30th. That’s a saving of $14.99. Both of these games will be available to Xbox One owners as well for free.
You will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to get these games for free. They only have to be downloaded in the period they are available for free, once you have downloaded them you can continue to play at your own pace.

Halo developer 343 Industries has confirmed today that Halo 5: Forge map making tool is going to be released for PC next month. It’s going to be released on the Windows Store and will enable Halo 5 players to create levels and maps on their PCs. Forge will also enable players to host and play custom multiplayer matches in Halo 5 as well. The best part is that Halo 5: Forge is going to arrive as a free download on Windows.
Halo 5: Forge arrives on the same day as the ninth free content release for Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One – Anvil’s Legacy – it’s going to bring major updates to the Forge mode on console which will complement the Windows release. The content release also adds two new maps, new weapons, and attachments as well as customization options among other things.
Halo 5: Forge editor was first announced for Windows 10 PC back in May this year. It brings the entire Forge level-creation experience from Halo 5: Guardians to Windows 10 PC. It even has support for mouse and keyboard for refined object placement, support for 4K displays is included as well aside from the ability to host and play custom matches for up to 16 players.
Creators will be able to download new levels from the Forge community created on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, they can then customize those levels or create their own from scratch.
