Virtual Reality Gundam Experience Will Be Launched In Japan

While Japan is known for its manga and anime, there are probably a few that can be truly considered classics. For example there is the Dragon Ball series, then we also have Naruto, then we also Doraemon, Slam Dunk, and so on. Gundam is also one of the series that can be considered a classic and a fan favorite.

In fact over in Japan there’s actually a Gundam statue, but in case that wasn’t enough for you guys out there, for a short period of time in August and until early October, you will be able to experience what it might be like to live in the Gundam world through the magic of virtual reality technology.

The experience will be held at the VR Zone: Project i Can VR center in Tokyo where those who are interested can pay 1,000 yen for the 8 minute long “ride”. Dubbed Gundam VR: Daiba Assault, unfortunately it does not put players into the mobile suit itself, but rather it lets them experience a battle between the Life-Size Gundam and an enemy Mobile Suit.

The players will then be able to experience the shocks and tremors that are the result of the battle. However like we said, it won’t be a mainstay experience as it will run from the 26th of August up to the 10th of October, so if you are interested in checking it out, maybe now might be a good time to book a holiday to Japan.

Acer Might Have A Gaming Smartwatch & Fitness Band In The Works

Acer-Liquid-Leap+_familyAre you in the market for a gaming smartwatch? Yea, we’re not really sure what that might entail, but according to a report from DigiTimes who cites the Economic Daily News, it would seem that Acer has a high-end gaming smartwatch in the works that they will unveil at IFA 2016, alongside a new fitness band.

Now like we said, we’re not sure what a gaming smartwatch would entail, especially gaming on a smartwatch isn’t exactly a very popular feature, and neither is it one of the main reasons why anyone would buy a smartwatch in the first place. However the company has in the past created gaming-specific products, like the Predator 8, so we guess a gaming-specific smartwatch isn’t really out of the question.

As for the fitness band, we can only assume that it will be the sequel to last year’s Liquid Leap+, but other than that not much else is known about the device. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but it certainly sounds like IFA 2016 is shaping up to be an event full of wearables, what with ASUS also reportedly planning to announce the ZenWatch 3.

IFA 2016 will be kicking off early September so remember to check back with us then for all the official details.

The Caeden Sona stress-fighting tracker caused me anxiety instead

It sounds like a great, if somewhat abstract, idea. The Caeden Sona is a gorgeous wristband with a heart rate monitor that constantly measures your pulse, in an attempt to gauge how you respond to stress. It then teaches you to build resilience to st…

Pokemon GO Update makes Team Leaders useful, promises exciting features

image-18-800x420Niantic Labs has just announced what seems to be a very minor update to Pokemon GO, which could still pique people’s curiosities. For one, it finally gives a bit of character to the otherwise practically useless Team Leaders. It also very briefly mentions one of the most debated aspects of the game: bots (and cheating). But most importantly, it tells … Continue reading

No, Destiny Will Not Be Going Free-To-Play

trials-of-osiris-destinyThe free-to-play (F2P) model is a popular one amongst developers and publishers these days, simply because it encourages gamers to check out the game and invest their time into it, after which hopefully they will be tempted to make in-game purchases. These are gamers that might have otherwise not bothered to play the game because they don’t want to pay upfront for it.

It is also a model that has turned dwindling paid-for games into successful F2P ones, such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Evolve. However if you thought that Bungie had suddenly decided to take Destiny down the F2P route, you might be disappointed to learn that is not true and that is not happening.

This is due to some listings of the game which have shown it to be “free”, leading to confusion amongst gamers. Bungie has since released a statement clarifying the matter. “The original Destiny adventure may appear to be free on some digital console marketplaces. While players may download the Destiny base game, they will only be granted access to the Destiny Trial Mode for free.”

They add, “If players wish to progress through the original Destiny adventure via digital download, they will be required to purchase Destiny – The Collection to gain access to this content.” Basically Destiny will still be a paid-for title for now, and it doesn’t look like there are any signs that this will be changing, so either decide to pay for the game, or you can wait for the day that Bungie may or may not make it a F2P title.
