Vertu Aster Chevron Luxury Android Smartphone Announced

vertu_aster_chevronVertu is a brand that many of you guys associate with luxury smartphones, and yes, it looks like the brand is still around which suggests that despite most of us thinking that their phones tend to be underpowered and overpriced, there is a demand for it, and the company has taken the wraps off its latest offering: the Vertu Aster Chevron.

The handset will feature a 4.7-inch Full HD display, a bit of a bummer considering QHD has become the standard, however the upside is that it will sport a sapphire crystal cover. Under the hood, there’s really not much to shout about either as we are looking at a Snapdragon 801, and yes, you read that right.

It will also come with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 2,275mAh battery, and it will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Its camera is rather interesting though as it packs a 13MP sensor with Hasselblad’s branding. The phones are also made of grade 5 titanium and will also feature “highly resilient Italian fabric”.

All of which is meant to justify its price tag of $4,200. If the Vertu Aster Chevron somehow appeals to you, you will be able to order one for yourself from Vertu’s website.

Target Resumes Sales of Amazon Hardware After Four Years

target_year_round_price_match
Amazon does not own and operate tens of thousands of stores across the globe and yet in many countries it’s the first place that many people check out when they want to buy a new product. There’s a reason why traditional brick-and-mortar retailers are working super hard to compete with this online retail giant and one of the methods that Target employed four years ago was to ban sales of Amazon tablets and e-readers through its stores. Four years have passed since the ban and the retailer has now resumed sales of Amazon hardware.

Amazon Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Fire TV devices are already being sold through Target.com and the devices will be available from the retailer’s brick-and-mortar stores by October this year.

Target banned Amazon hardware back in 2012. Since Amazon tablets make it very easy for customers to purchase stuff from the online retail giant, many viewed this move as a way to rid Target stores of a proverbial Trojan horse.

The move made sense to other retailers as well. Soon after Target stopped selling Amazon products, Walmart followed suit. Why did the company have a change of heart?

“Target continually evaluates our assortment to deliver quality products at a great value,” it said in a statement provided to Bloomberg.

Britney Spears’ New Album Exclusive To Apple Music

apple music
One of the best ways for music streaming services looking to bring in more subscribers is to nab exclusive releases from some of the biggest artists in the industry. That’s precisely what Tidal has been doing and it’s believed to be one of the reasons why Apple might consider acquiring it. For now, it has managed to acquire Britney Spears’ new album as an exclusive. The singer herself confirmed that her first album in three years is going to be exclusive to Apple Music.

Britney Spears has a lot of fans and they have been waiting for a very long time for her to release a new album. The only way they will be able to hear it, at least initially, is on Apple Music. This means if they don’t already subscribe to the service they will because they would want to check out Spears’ latest work as soon as possible.

She confirmed on Twitter that her first album in three years – titled Glory – is going to be released as an Apple Music exclusive. Fans should mark August 26th on their calendars as that’s when the album will drop on Apple Music.

It’s unclear at this point in time for how long Glory is going to be an Apple Music exclusive. It won’t be surprising if the album eventually makes it way to other streaming services like Spotify, Tidal, and Google Play Music.

'Prey for the Gods' is a modern 'Shadow of the Colossus'

It’s strange that Shadow of the Colossus, a game so well-received on the PlayStation 2, has had so few imitators. The beautiful art style, spectacular battles and surprising story (I won’t spoil it) seem ripe for adaptation. That’s why we’re curious…

Samsung Will Offer Dual-SIM Galaxy Note 7 In Select Markets

Samsung unveiled its new flagship handset a couple of days ago and all major carriers in the United States have confirmed when the handset is going to be released and how much it’s going to cost. Samsung often releases dual-SIM variants of its flagship smartphones in select markets and it’s doing that with the Galaxy Note 7. It has been confirmed that Samsung is going to offer a dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy Note 7 in select markets.

Even though the Galaxy Note 7 is going to be released on August 19th in most markets across the globe, it appears that one retailer in Dubai, UAE is handing out units to pre-order customers ahead of schedule.

A YouTuber had pre-ordered the handset at one of Dubai’s largest electronics retailer and received it yesterday. He posted an unboxing video of the handset on YouTube and it shows that Samsung is providing Galaxy Note 7 Duos to customers in the UAE. Duos means that the handset can support two SIMs simultaneously.

The second SIM in this handset is placed inside a hybrid microSD/nano-SIM slot. It enables the user to have two lines running on their handset at all times. It’s great for those who need two numbers but don’t want to carry two smartphones.

Duos variants of Samsung flagships are rarely released officially in the United States so don’t expect the Galaxy Note 7 Duos to arrive in your local carrier store. If you are in some other market get in touch with Samsung’s retail and carrier partners to find out if the company is providing the dual-SIM variant of the Galaxy Note 7 in your country.
