Samsung Might Offer Gear Fit 2 As Freebie With Galaxy Note 7

samsung-gear-fit2_13
Samsung is finally going to introduce the Galaxy Note 7 tomorrow and we will get to known when it’s going to arrive and how much it’s going to cost. Back when the Galaxy S7 was launched the company decided to hype the launch by giving a free Gear VR unit to all customers who pre-ordered the handset. It appears that the company might give away an even better device with the Galaxy Note 7, at least in the United States.

9to5Google reports that Samsung is working with both T-Mobile and Sprint to offer customers who pre-order the Galaxy Note 7 a Gear Fit 2 wearable activity tracker for free. The wearable device was recently launched and it costs $179.99, some might find it more useful than the Gear VR headset.

It’s unclear at this point in time if this promotion will be expanded to Verizon and AT&T as well, the scribe certainly seems to think so, after all, they are the two leading mobile carriers in the country. This promotion may also reportedly be offered via Best Buy.

Whether or not Samsung will decide to give a free Gear Fit 2 tracker to all Galaxy Note 7 pre-order customers across the globe remains to be seen. It was very liberal with the free Gear VR units earlier this year but perhaps it might be more careful with the $180 Gear Fit 2 wearable activity tracker.

Google Will Now Inform You When New Devices Get Linked To Your Account

google-safety-notifications
Google has introduced an additional security feature for those who use Android devices. It’s going to send native notifications to users when new devices are being added to their Google account. This will instantly let the user know that a new device is being added to their account and will enable them to take the relevant action. Thus users will remain aware of who has access to their account and what devices are being used with it.

The company has decided to notify users through native notifications instead of emails because it has found that users are up to four times as likely to review the information when prompted by a native notification as compared to an email.

The native Android notifications will let users know of security events on their account which include the addition of a new device.

If the user finds the activity suspicious they can tap on “Review Account Activity” to get details like what device was added to their account and from where aside from other relevant information. The notification can be dismissed like any other Android notification. If they find the activity suspicious they can tap on “Secure Account” to block unauthorized access to their account.

This feature is going to be rolled out for all users in the very near future.
