After four years, the “six strikes” Copyright Alert System was shutdown for good last month. Now, a body of content makers and distributors are asking lawmakers to update the DMCA system that has allowed for a more open internet with stricter rules that would require ISPs to block content.
[MWC 2017] Sometimes there are certain parts in town where the reception isn’t as good, or say you’re traveling outstation and your internet connection isn’t quite as stable or strong as you would like. This means that downloading apps, music, videos, and so on will be slower than usual or it might not even be possible.
However that could change in the future because MWC 2017, Fox has announced that together with Ericsson and Australian carrier Telstra, they will be testing out quietly downloading and pushing movies onto user’s smartphones in the background, without any action required by the user. Users will then have the ability to watch these movies after paying a fee for them.
Basically it almost sounds like they’re just giving users movies and asking if users wouldn’t mind paying to watch them. However if you’re worried about it being a data hog, these movies will be pushed out using zero-rated data, meaning that it won’t count towards your data cap. Fox also says that users of the app will have control over how and when movies are being stored.
At the moment the trial is only offered to Telstra subscribers, as well as Fox and Ericsson employees. Also eleven movies are being offered for now which includes titles such as The Martian, Deadpool, Independence Day: Resurgence, The Revenant, and Life of Pi.

By now we’re sure that most gamers have probably made peace with the fact that the next Overwatch playable character will not be Doomfist, but rather a child genius by the name of Efi Oladele. The company has continued to pump out teasers for the upcoming character, with the latest teaser being posted on Twitter today.
In a post on Twitter by the official Overwatch account, it reads, “[UPDATE] Genius grant recipient and Numbani local Efi Oladele posts curious image on her holovid channel, declaring: ‘Time to get to work!’” From what we can tell, it sounds like the character is building her suit or robot, which at the moment is unclear. There is even a little sticky note at the top left corner of the image with the drawing of what appears to be a helmet of sorts.

At the moment it is really anyone’s guess as to what this new character can do and how she will fit into the Overwatch universe, but if you are looking forward to trying your hand at new Overwatch characters then perhaps this could be worth looking forward to. We’re not sure when Blizzard plans on making an announcement for the character, but given the amount of teasers they’ve put out to date, it is possible that an announcement could be taking place soon.

According to Nintendo, the Nintendo Switch console is first and foremost a home console. Given that the console can be undocked and brought around like a tablet, many had wondered about how the Switch would be positioned in Nintendo’s console lineup, but like we said, Nintendo had reassured that the Switch would not be replacing the 3DS.
However it seems that there could be some kind of identity crisis going on. This is according to the folks at NeoGAF (via Kotaku) who noticed that maybe not all Switch games will support TV mode. This is according to an FAQ for an upcoming Switch game called Voez. The game was originally a mobile title and it appears to be headed for the Switch, and according to the FAQ which asked about support for TV mode, it reads, “A: No. This software can not play in TV mode.”
It also instructs users to touch the screen to play the game as button operation is not available. What we can assume from this is that there could potentially be other games launched by developers for the Switch that will be touch only, meaning that despite Nintendo claiming that Switch is a home console, there will be titles that might feel more mobile.
We’re not sure if there will be other games for the Switch that will be touch only, but perhaps this is something to think about if you were thinking of getting your hands on the console.

And by “critical”, we mean when it will actually start selling and for how much. This gives said companies enough time to adjust their figures in between announcement and launch. Lately, however, companies have started to shorten … Continue reading
