New Facebook Video App Released For Samsung TVs

Facebook confirmed a couple of weeks ago that it was working on a new dedicated video app for TVs and it has been officially announced today that this app has been released for Samsung smart TVs. Samsung confirmed today that the new Facebook video app is available on its smart TVs, including its 2017 QLED TV series. The app will also be available on all of Samsung’s 2015, 2016 and 2017 smart TV models.

“It is a pleasure to bring the world’s social network to Samsung Smart TV users, as well as continue to see the value of Samsung Smart TV, as a platform, growing,” said Sangsook Han, Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Facebook video app for TV brings users a new way to enjoy Facebook videos on the biggest screen in their home. This app will let them watch videos shared by friends or Pages they follow, top live videos from across the globe as well as recommended videos based on their interests.

Users first need to log into the Samsung Smart Hub to download the application. Once they’ve done that they will receive a prompt for one-time Facebook login after which they can start watching and discovering new content on the big screen.

Facebook also said previously that it would bring this app to the Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV as well but it’s yet to confirm when the app will be released for those platforms.

Galaxy S8 Will Come With AKG Earphones

When Samsung announced its intention to acquire Harman International, many speculated about Harman’s audio technology making its way to the company’s mobile devices. That turned out to be true when the company unveiled the Galaxy tab S3 yesterday which features audio “tuned by AKG.” For those who are unaware, AKG is one of the many premium audio brands owned by Harman. The company has now confirmed that it’s going to ship AKG earphones with the Galaxy S8.

The confirmation came from Samsung during its Mobile World Congress 2017 press conference yesterday in which it announced that a pair of AKG earphones will be bundled with its next flagship smartphone.

That wasn’t the only announcement related to the Galaxy S8 that the company made at its press conference yesterday. It also confirmed that the Galaxy S8 is going to be officially launched on March 29th at an event in London and New York.

No technical specifications of those earphones are available at this point in time but given AKG’s great track record with premium listening devices, we can get excited about AKG earphones with the Galaxy S8, Samsung’s upcoming flagship just might offer a really good audio experience that sets it apart from the competition.

We’ll find out more on March 29th when Samsung officially unveils its new flagship smartphone.

One of the cheapest, most basic phones at Mobile World Congress this year has probably got more attention than all the smartphone flagships combined. The Nokia 3310 isn’t trying to squeeze the LG G6 from your hand, and its physical keys aren’t going to give the BlackBerry KeyOne any sleepless nights, but it possesses a retro charm that has the … Continue reading

Most Americans Want U.S. To Keep Funding Expanded Medicaid

A majority of Americans say it is important to keep federal funding for an expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor under Obamacare, even as Republicans work on repealing and replacing former President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, according to a poll released on Friday.

The 2010 Affordable Care Act expanded Medicaid in more than 30 states with the help of increased federal funding, extending health insurance to millions of Americans.

Eighty-four percent of respondents in a new Kaiser Family Foundation poll said it was important that federal support for the expansion remain in place.

The Republican-led Congress and the administration of President Donald Trump have said repealing and replacing the law – under which more than 20 million previously uninsured Americans received health insurance, many through the Medicaid expansion – is a top priority. They have vowed to unveil legislation to begin doing so next month.

Republicans have long opposed Obamacare on grounds it was government overreach and that it simply led to higher insurance premiums for many Americans.

Early Republican proposals have included capping the amount of money states receive for Medicaid programs.

But the Kaiser poll found that the Medicaid expansion has broad bipartisan support. Ninety-five percent of Democrats, 84 percent of independents and 69 percent of Republicans said it was “very” or “somewhat” important to continue to provide federal funding for the expansion.

In the 16 states with a Republican governor that expanded Medicaid, 87 percent of residents said it was important that federal funding for the expansion be maintained.

The Kaiser poll also found that 48 percent of Americans view the healthcare law favorably while 42 percent view it unfavorably, the highest level of support tracked by Kaiser since 2010.

A poll released on Thursday from the Pew Research Center also found that support for Obamacare had reached a new high, with 54 percent saying they approved of the law.

Selena Gomez Shows Love For The Weeknd In Her Instagram Story

Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have been spotted locking lips, vacationing in Italy and holding hands. It’s safe to declare these two lovebirds an item.

If all of that isn’t enough evidence that they’re dating, Gomez’s Instagram story pretty much seals the deal. Thank goodness for stealthy Selenators who captured the moment and tweeted the video for all the world to see before it expired on Instagram.

In the Instagram story, Gomez is filming her TV screen which shows The Weeknd performing his hit song “I Feel It Coming.” As soon as he appears on camera she audibly gushes, “Aw, baby.”

“BABY”? YES, “BABY.” That term of endearment even further cements their technically-still-unofficial relationship status. The white heart doodle on the video also speaks volumes.

This is love, guys.

George Takei: 'We Want To See The Full Diversity Of America Now On Screen'

After a history-making night on which a record-breaking number of black stars took home Oscars, actor George Takei is speaking out about the need for Hollywood to truly reflect diversity in America.

“We now live in the 21st century where the picture on the cinema screen should be in full color ― the rich spectrum of hues from yellow to brown to red,” Takei told The Huffington Post. “Black and white pictures are old history. We want to see the full diversity of America now on screen.”

The openly gay Japanese-American actor has been an outspoken figure when it comes to Hollywood’s diversity problem for some time, particularly on the subject of white-washing Asian characters.

At Sunday night’s Oscars, Dev Patel’s nomination made him only the third actor of Indian descent to ever receive an Oscar nomination out of over 1,500 nominations from throughout the years. Additionally, only sixteen Asian actors have received nominations throughout the history of the Oscars ― or roughly one percent of nominations in 89 years.
