Just last week WhatsApp rolled out an update to its app in which status messages were replaced by Stories similar to that found on Instagram and Facebook. We guess Facebook saw how well-received the feature was on Instagram and decided to replicate it on WhatsApp, although we’re guessing not everyone is necessarily a fan.
The good news is that if you don’t like this change and would much rather disable it, you’ll be pleased to learn that there is now a guide in which it will teach you how to disable it. However note that this guide is aimed only at Android users and it will require users to own a rooted device, so if you aren’t either of these things then we guess you’ll just have to live with it.
The guide was put together by XDA forum member GokuINC and can be found on the XDA forums. It appears to be pretty straightforward and simple, but like we said you will need a rooted device so if you don’t, you’ll need to root it first and that will be a completely separate guide depending on your device.
As is the case with all attempts at tweaking your phone and apps, do proceed with caution. That being said for those who do miss text status updates, it was recently discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta that text status messages could be making a return in future versions of the app.

If you’ve ever tried to search for pirated content on the likes of Google, you might have come across instances where certain search results were removed due to a DMCA takedown request. Basically these listings would link to alleged pirate content and have been removed from the search results as per the copyright owner’s request.
However in the future it seems that it would be much harder to search for pirated content using either Google or Microsoft’s Bing. This is thanks to a voluntary code of practice that has been signed by both Google and Microsoft in which it would make it harder for users to visit such websites, at least if you are trying to find them via either search engine.
According to Eddy Leviten, director general at the Alliance for Intellectual Property, “Sometimes people will search for something and they will end up unwittingly being taken to a pirated piece of content. What we want to ensure is that the results at the top of the search engines are the genuine ones. It is about protecting people who use the internet, but also protecting the creators of that material too.”
These changes are expected to be rolled out by this coming summer, so that’s something you might notice in your search results in the coming months.

It used to be that developing film was the only way we could get our photos printed. However fast forward to today, developing film has mostly become something that enthusiasts are interested in, thanks to the fact that these days digital cameras are pretty much everywhere you see, thus removing the need for film.
However if you are interested in developing film but don’t have a proper studio to do it in, not to worry because it seems that there is a Kickstarter project for a device called the Lab-Box, with the idea being that with Lab-Box, you’ll be able to develop film while on the go. This also means that it is small enough for you to do it at home should you not need the mobility.
The best part is that you won’t actually need a darkroom setup that you normally would with regular film development. This is because everything is done in the box itself, which means that you could be halfway hiking through the woods when you decide that maybe you want to develop a photo and it would not be a problem.
The process also appears to be very simple and straightforward, which should hopefully reduce the number of errors in the process. So far reception to its concept has been extremely positive, at least judging by how much money it has raised. If this is something you might be interested in then head on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.

Like it or not, your body gradually loses its capacity for producing blood as you age — that’s why immune deficiencies, leukemia and other blood conditions become more likely with time. Scientists may have found a way to turn back the clock, though…
The dresses, hair, makeup and jewelry took a back seat to a more meaningful accessory at the Oscars on Sunday.
Many of Hollywood’s brightest were seen sporting blue ribbons in solidarity with the America’s Civil Liberties Union. The non-profit, which is “devoted to protecting the rights of everyone in America,” has been a driving force in resistance to many of President Donald Trump’s policies and conflicts of interest since he took office.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the ACLU reached out to “all major nominees,” including “Best Actress” nominee Ruth Negga:
There have been plenty of political moments on the red carpet this awards season, but we’re loving this large push of solidarity.

In Chrissy Teigen’s mind, the Oscar for cutest baby was no contest. Before heading to the 89th annual Academy Awards, the model and mom decided to have some award show fun on social media.
“And the award for Baby of the Year goes to … baby Luna!” Teigen says in a video posted to Twitter Sunday. We’re guessing the statue in the video is the one Teigen’s husband John Legend won for his song “Glory,” created with Common for the film “Selma.” (Luna’s will probably come in the mail.)
Clearly, this is a major upset for all other babies hoping to snag the win this year, but let’s be honest: Baby Luna put out some outstanding work in the last year.
Well deserved, miss Luna.

'Get Out' Thrills Its Way To No. 1 At The Box Office With $30.5 Million Debut
Posted in: Today's ChiliLOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – “Get Out,” a trenchant horror film about race relations, rode critical raves to a smashing box office debut.
The low-budget film was the weekend’s top-grossing domestic release, earning $30.5 million, and propelling its director and writer Jordan Peele onto the Hollywood A-list.
The film, which centers on a black man who discovers that his girlfriend’s liberal, lily-white hometown is guarding a sinister secret, marks a departure for Peele, who is best-known for his work on the Comedy Central series “Key & Peele.”
It proves he can handle scares, as well as laughs, supplying sly social commentary in both genres.
“Get Out” also extends Blumhouse Productions’ hot hand.
The film company scored earlier this year with “Split,” a thriller about a man with a personality disorder that racked up $130.8 million stateside on a $9 million budget. Universal distributed, marketed, and partnered on both movies.
“Get Out” benefited from being embraced by reviewers, earning a rare 100% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the likes of the Wall Street Journal’s Joe Morgenstern hailing its “explosive brilliance” and the New York Times’ Manohla Dargis praising it as “exhilaratingly smart.”
Not the kind of notices most horror films enjoy. Its success comes as most of the movie business’ gaze is affixed on the Dolby Theater, where the Academy Awards will unfold on Sunday, with “La La Land” expected to be the night’s big winner.
With “Get Out” galvanizing multiplexes, two other new releases, “Collide” and “Rock Dog,” collapsed.
As the newcomers stumbled, “The Lego Batman Movie” continued to show strength, racking up $19 million in its third week to push its domestic gross to $133 million.

Wolfgang Puck Already Made The Oscars Political With Joke About Donald Trump
Posted in: Today's ChiliBasically as soon as the Oscar red carpet telecast began, Wolfgang Puck made a joke about President Donald Trump.
Explaining the cuisine he’d be serving for the Oscar after-party ceremony, Puck described the culinary elements of his work to E! host Giuliana Rancic, saying, “No matter what Trump says, we have a little Mexican influence too.” Rancic, remember, is married to Bill Rancic, the winner of the very first season of Trump’s “The Apprentice.”
Since what appeared to be the first Trump joke of the night happened barely minutes into the show’s TV coverage, it certainly seemed like this moment might predict the tone for the show.
Puck also made a point to mention that the remaining food from the after-party would go to feed the local homeless population.
Puck’s youngest son, Oliver, stood by his side during the segment. The child apparently helped in the preparation for tonight’s food.
On the carpet, Puck showed off a few golden-statue-themed desserts.

The 2017 Oscars red carpet wasn’t complete until Chrissy Teigen and John Legend showed up.
Teigen sparkled in a gorgeous Zuhair Murad gown with intricate beading and a belted midsection. She paired her look with dazzling earrings, an elegant updo and one of her trademark thigh-high splits, of course.
Legend said his wife looked “like a goddess” during their interview with Ryan Seacrest and we couldn’t agree more:
The singer, who Teigen pointed out was a bit nervous about his upcoming piano medley at the show, looked as classy as ever in a black tux.
We can’t get enough of these two!
