This wheel-legged robot is the stuff of nightmares. It moves around at speeds up to 9 mph, can lift 100 pounds, go down stairs, and has all of the hallmarks of a robot that can chase us down and kill us dead. It can even jump obstacles and on top of tables, so no one is safe, even in a cafeteria.

Two New BlackBerry Phones Might Be On The Way

BlackBerry is no longer making its own smartphones. It has signed a global licensing agreement with TCL which gives the Chinese company the rights to manufacture and sell BlackBerry-branded smartphones. It officially announced one such device at the Mobile World Congress 2017 called the BlackBerry KEYone. According to a new report, TCL might have two additional BlackBerry phones on the way.

TCL Communications Nicolas Zibell told CNET in an interview that the company is going to have a total of three BlackBerry phones in its smartphone portfolio this year. What this means is that there are two BB-branded devices yet to come from TCL.

A source familiar with TCL’s plans mentioned in the report claims that one of the new BlackBerry handsets is going to be one that’s all-touchscreen. Think of it as a successor to the DTEK60 which TCL also built for BlackBerry, but TCL is expected to drop the DTEK branding for this new device.

No word as yet on what the specifications of these two new handsets are going to be and if they’re going to be aimed towards the mid-range or premium segment of the market. Time will tell, but we still don’t know for how long we’ll have to wait to see those two new BlackBerry handsets.

Google Home UK Launch Expected By June

Google’s connected speaker is called Google Home and it’s powered by the company’s artificial intelligence assistant aptly called Google Assistant. It launched this product in November last year and since then Google Home has been available for purchase in the United States. It appears that the company might soon be ready to take it across the pond. According to a report, the Google Home UK launch might take place by June this year.

Google hasn’t released Google Home officially in any other market as yet. It remains exclusive to the United States for now. That doesn’t mean you can’t get it anywhere else, there are plenty of third-party retailers and gray market sellers who are importing units from the U.S. and selling them at a premium.

Speaking to the BBC at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, SVP of Hardware at Google Rick Osterloh mentioned that the Google Home UK launch is going to take place this year before the end of June. This will finally allow the company’s connected speaker to take on rivals like the Amazon Echo which was released in the United Kingdom in the fall last year.

Osterloh didn’t say how much this product is going to cost in the UK and what new partners it’s going to work with to make Google Home a more compelling option for customers in that country. We’ll find out this information in the weeks leading up to the launch.

Google Shipped Over 10 Million Cardboard VR Viewers

Long before Google came out with its Daydream View virtual reality headset, it introduced a VR viewer called . It was a barebones solution that enabled people to experience virtual reality at little or no cost at all. Cardboard has since become very popular for those looking at a relatively cheap entry point into the world of virtual reality. The company today revealed that it has shipped more than 10 million Cardboard VR viewers ever since it first started shipping them back in 2014.

Google also revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2017 toady that Cardboard apps have been downloaded more than 160 million times on the Google Play Store and that 30 of these apps have more than one million downloads each. This goes to show the rising interest in virtual reality.

The company now offers a more proper and powerful virtual reality solution to those who want it. The Daydream View headset has been out for a couple of months now and google says that it’s being used for about 40 minutes per day by each user. It only happens to be compatible with six smartphones currently and just about 100 VR apps are available for Daydream.

Perhaps rather unsurprisingly, YouTube happens to be the most popular Daydream View app as far as time spent and the number of users is concerned.
