Alleged LG G6 prototype shows slim bezels, strange back

If there were any remaining hope that LG would still push through with its modular smartphone vision, for the very few fans of that idea, this latest leak should probably put those to rest. Presuming, of course, this supposed prototype is indeed the near-final form of the LG G6. Based on this model it seems that LG is jumping fully … Continue reading

Square Enix Shares Final Fantasy VII Remake ‘Key Visual’

ff7-remakeWhen Square Enix announced that they would be remaking one of the most classic video games of all time, Final Fantasy VII, we’re sure that many, many gamers were pretty damn excited for it. The announcement was made in 2015 and now that we’re in 2017, could it mean that we’re closer to its release?

Unfortunately Square Enix doesn’t really have much to share in that regard, but during the celebration of the 30 years of the Final Fantasy franchise, the company shared an image (pictured above) which according to them, is a “key visual” for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and that’s pretty much all they revealed with regards to the game.

Last we heard, the game still had a long way to go before it was ready, so gamers should definitely not hold their breaths. Given how much of a classic the original release was, many are probably curious as to how the remake will fare. We have heard about some of the changes that they are making to the game, namely its graphics, so that’s always something worth looking forward to.

At the moment the game is currently planned for a release on the PS4, but there was a rumor back in 2016 which suggested that it could also arrive for the Nintendo Switch (which was known as the NX back then). Either way we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves. In the meantime this “key visual” will have to make do.

New NVIDIA SHIELD Pro now available, 500GB HDD, microSD slot

At CES 2017 early in January, NVIDIA made a surprising but still welcome announcement. It had a new SHIELD Android TV, but in many aspects, it’s as good as the old SHIELD Android TV. In fact, in at least one aspect, it may be seen as worse. The new NVIDIA SHIELD, in the process of shaving off some size, also … Continue reading

Google turns on RCS messaging for some T-Mobile users

Sending messages via our smartphones has become a less than simple affair. SMS, the age-old medium of messages, can no longer meet the needs of modern conversations, many of which include images or, at the very least, emojis. That is why Google is getting behind RCS, short for Rich Communication Services, and has apparently enabled the feature in its Messenger … Continue reading

LG G6 Prototype Leaked

lg-g6-leaked-prototype-1
We’ve already heard many rumors and reports about LG’s upcoming flagship smartphone. Purported schematics and renders of the device have been leaked as well but we haven’t seen a live photo of the device as yet. A couple of photos are now circulating online and they’re believed to be of a prototype of the LG G6. It’s evident from the pictures that this isn’t a finished product but a prototype at some stage in the development process.

The leaked LG G6 prototype does show that the metal body of the device is going to have a nice chamfer around its entire frame. It also gives us a glimpse of the screen-to-bezel ratio which appears to be minimal.

What you can’t tell from these leaked images is whether or not the display has rounded edges as some rumors have claimed. Perhaps we might get to see that in upcoming leaks. There are bound to be a few of them before this handset is officially announced.

We can also see that the LG G6 is going to have a dual-camera system as well as a USB Type-C support, that was to be expected after all. LG has already confirmed that the G6 is going to move away from the modular platform is launched with the G5 so that’s why you don’t see any place to add on “Friends” for the device.

LG is expected to unveil the G6 at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona later this month.

Body Cameras Mandatory For NYC Police By 2019

met-body-camera
Over the next two years, New York City is going to pour a lot of resources into acquiring body cameras for the police force. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio announced alongside Commissioner James O’Neill that the entire police force of the city is going to mandatorily wear body cameras by the end of 2018. The costs associated with this exercise haven’t been disclosed but the mayor did say that both officers and taxpayers are “making contributions.”

Blasio added that in order to push this initiative forward the city came to an agreement with the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. He didn’t really make it clear what he meant by both sides making contributions.

The city previously gave out a contract for 5,000 body cameras to VieVu. A draft policy about the situations in which an officer would be required to activate their camera was circulated in the summer last year.

Simply put, it’s going to depend on the scenario. For example, officers might not wear body cameras when they’re posted at a protest so as to not record a constitutionally protected activity. An official policy draft related to the use of body cameras has not been released as yet but we can expect the city to provide that at some point in the future.

Galaxy S8 could have 3,250mAh battery, 6GB RAM variant

Just because Samsung is delaying the big reveal of the Galaxy S8 doesn’t mean the leaks and rumors will do likewise. Although by now it seems that anything and everything that can be said of the delayed flagship has already been said, but there’s still a bit of wiggle room for more. And by more, we mean things that could … Continue reading

SpaceX May Soon Relaunch Used Falcon 9 Rocket

spacex_falcon_9
SpaceX has been able to successfully land its Falcon 9 rocket after a mission on both land and sea. It has demonstrated multiple times that it’s capable of recovering a rocket but the company hasn’t reused one of those rockets for another mission just yet, but that might change in the near future. SpaceX is one step closer to relaunching one of its used Falcon 9 rockets from a previous mission.

The company revealed today via Twitter that it has been able to conduct a static test fire of a recovered Falcon 9 first-stage. This is a major step in ensuring that the recovered rocket component can be reused in another mission.

The tweet included a picture of the Falcon 9 first-stage rocket recovered after the CRS-8 International Space Station resupply mission in April last year. This was the first one that the company was able to land successfully on a floating barge in the sea. CEO Elon Musk said at that time that it was likely for this particular booster to be qualified for reuse.

The company will be looking forward to reusing this booster in a mission with European satellite company SES and expects that the launch might take place in the near future, perhaps as early as next month. Musk’s companies are known for their aggressive timelines so many skeptics will take this claim with a bit of salt.

Animal Crossing mobile delayed for Fire Emblem Heroes

Nintendo is doing something radically new and out of character: it is responding swiftly to trends. The Japanese gaming giant, notorious for its snail-paced reaction times, has just announced a slight change in its mobile game schedule. Perhaps seeing more profits to be made in somewhat more popular franchises, Nintendo is delaying the launch of the mobile version of its … Continue reading

Tesla Motors Has Officially Changed Its Name

missouri-tesla-ban
Elon Musk’s car company is commonly referred to as Tesla but the company’s official name has been Tesla Motors for many, many years. The company today announced that its official title has now been changed. Tesla Motors will henceforth be known as Tesla, Inc. There’s a pretty good reason why it has decided to change the name officially.

Tesla Motors may have started out as a company that just makes electric cars but it has gone beyond that over the past few years. Tesla Motors has been making batteries for power backups and due to its acquisition of SolarCity, will now function as a player in the solar power market as well.

The change in name is going to reflect that Tesla has moved on from making just cars to being a more diverse business that offers more than electric cars. You don’t need to own a Tesla to buy a Powerwall battery pack or a solar panel solution from SolarCity, a company that was founded by Elon Musk’s cousins and where he served as chairman of the board.

It’s evident that Tesla has been thinking about making this change for quite some time now. Last year, the company changed the URL of its website from Teslamotors.com to simply Tesla.com. The official about page now describes Tesla as a company that is “not just an automaker, but also a technology and design company with a focus on energy innovation.”
