Motorized LEGO Game of Thrones Red Keep Sculpture

I didn’t like Game of Thrones at first, but the show has certainly grown on me and I like it now. It’s one of the few shows that I still like to watch the opening scenes of just to see the moving fortresses and such. The most memorable is the Red Keep.

Some fantastic geek has taken a bunch of LEGO bricks and built their own working version of the Red Keep from the opening titles of the hit HBO show. It rotates, its towers slide up and down, its cupolas spin, and it’s generally packed with awesome. Check it out in action:

The builder of this LEGO sculpture is Claus-Marc Hahn, who created it with LEGO and Mindstorms automation gear. There are over 125,000 pieces in the creation, along with four Mindstorms EV3 controllers and large servos working the show. Epic build, Claus-Marc!

Google+ Location Sharing Feature Disabled

There’s no hiding the fact that not a lot of people use Google+ as they prefer to stick to Facebook and Twitter instead. While there have been many rumors of the impending demise of Google’s social network it’s still around. Google has now removed a feature the social network that has been a part of it for a few years. The Google+ location sharing feature is no longer available to users.

The location sharing feature allowed Google+ users to share their location with anyone for as long as they want. The feature was launched a couple of years ago for Google+ but it has now been removed and with good reason.

Google has decided to bring the location sharing feature to Google Maps, the app in which this feature would have made more sense from the get-go, allowing Maps users to share their location with friends either for a limited time or indefinitely.

Google has now confirmed that the location sharing feature is being rolled out for Maps users and will soon go live for all users worldwide. It has thus disabled the feature on Google+. Users who head over to the Locations tab in Google+ to find this feature are now being told to take advantage of it in Google Maps as it should have been from the start.

Comcast Working On TV Streaming Service For Its Internet Customers

Online TV streaming is all the rage these days with multiple players trying to take advantage of the increasing trend that’s seeing people cut the cord and move to over-the-top options that don’t require contracts. Comcast actually launched a TV streaming service in 2015 called Stream that’s only available in a few cities. According to a new report, the company is now planning a major expansion by relaunching and rebranding Stream and offering it everywhere Comcast offers its internet service.

Reuters reports that Comcast is going to call its new TV streaming service Xfinity Instant TV. Prices may start at $15 per month for major broadcast networks like NBC and ABC. It may go up to $40 per month for additional premium networks like ESPN.

Comcast’s Stream service is only available in a handful of markets like now such as Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New Hampshire. A nationwide launch will certainly be a major expansion of the service which the scribe believes is likely to happen in the third quarter of this year.

One detail that’s going to set it apart from competitors like Sling TV and PlayStation Vue is that Xfinity Instant TV will only be offered to those who are already paying for the company’s internet service.

It’s also possible that any and all streaming data generated by Xfinity Instant TV will not count against the customer’s data cap for the month.

Comcast has not yet commented on this report so there hasn’t been an official confirmation or denial from the company about this yet.

SpaceX To Relaunch Falcon 9 Rocket On March 30th

spacex_falcon_9
SpaceX has demonstrated multiple times that it’s capable of landing its reusable Falcon 9 rocket back on solid ground. It has launched performed landings on a barge at sea multiple times. However, the company is yet to relaunch one of its Falcon 9 rockets that have already been to space. It did say that this was going to happen in 2017 and now SpaceX has confirmed when it’s going to happen. SpaceX will relaunch a previously used Falcon 9 rocket on March 30th.

SpaceX is going to launch a satellite into orbit and while this is a routine job for the company by now, the occasion is going to be more stressful given that it’s the first time SpaceX is relaunching a Falcon 9 rocket that has been used on a previous mission to space.

SpaceX has since been testing the recovered rockets to ascertain if they will be able to make the journey again and how much repairs are required to make that happen. The rocket that it has chosen for this mission previously flew on a resupply mission to the International Space Station in April last year.

Not only is SpaceX relaunching a Falcon 9 rocket that has previously been used on a mission, the company is going to try and land it back once again on a drone ship at sea. This means that this rocket could potentially make more tours of space in the future if everything goes according to plan.

The rocket is scheduled to launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida on Thursday around 6PM ET.

Windows 10 Creators Update Download Available Early

Microsoft confirmed that the next major update for its operating system is going to arrive early in the new year. It’s called Windows 10 Creators Update and it brings a plethora of new features for the platform. It has been seeding new beta builds to members of the Insiders program for the past few months and now it appears that the final version of Windows 10 Creators Update is available for download early for those who want it.

Microsoft is likely going to announce the general availability of the Windows 10 Creators Update next month. However, ahead of that, it has released Windows 10 build 15063 on its services.

While Microsoft hasn’t confirmed this build to be the final version, sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans tell The Verge that the company is actually referring to this build number internally as Release to Manufacturing. In layman’s terms that means it’s the final version.

ISO files for Windows 10 build 15063 have now been spotted on Microsoft’s servers after it was released for Windows Insiders last night.

Those who don’t shy away from downloading an ISO file and then mounting it in Windows 10 File Explorer and running setup.exe to get the final build of the Creators Update can find the latest build for 64-bit PC and 32-bit PC on Microsoft’s servers here and here.

Those who don’t want to go through all of that hassle can just sit tight for a few weeks until Microsoft rolls it out over-the-air for everybody.

Galaxy S8 Might Face Supply Issues

It’s not uncommon for popular devices to face supply constraints when they are released to customers. Millions of people around the globe are waiting to pick up that particular device and it can be hard for the company to meet demand. A new report out of Korea claims that Samsung may struggle with trying to keep up with demand for the Galaxy S8. That’s not going to be an ideal scenario given that the company would want it to be smooth sailing with the Galaxy S8 as it’s the first flagship smartphone that it has launched following the Galaxy Note 7 disaster last year.

The Korea Herald’s report reveals that slow production of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipsets and even that of Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chipset is likely going to cause supply issues for the Galaxy S8.

Samsung is going to use both processors for the Galaxy S8, it will depend on the market and variant, some will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and others the Samsung Exynos 8895. It merits mentioning here that both processors are being mass produced by Samsung.

While the company is obviously mass production its own Exynos 8895 chipset, it’s also the contract manufacturer for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor.

Rumor has it that Samsung expects the Galaxy S8 to outperform the Galaxy Note 7 in pre-order quantity so a supply issue is not something that would be ideal for Samsung. Then again, we won’t really know if any of this is true is the supply constraints become visible a few weeks after the Galaxy S8 is released.

Amazon Will Now Deliver Groceries To Your Trunk

The AmazonFresh grocery program has gradually been expanded to more markets. It allows Prime subscribers to add fresh groceries from the online retail giant. The company is now expanding the reach of AmazonFresh to provide even more convenience to users. It has launched a new service in beta today called AmazonFresh Pickup. It’s a drive-in grocery delivery service which will deliver the good to your car’s trunk.

It all sounds fairly simple. All you have to do is order online from AmazonFresh and then pick a time slot which can even be within 15 minutes of placing your order. You then have to drive to an AmazonFresh Pickup location and park your car where a service agent will appear in a few minutes to directly load them into your car’s trunk.

Amazon is offering this service for free to Amazon Prime members which provides them more bang for their buck. The best part is that there’s no minimum order value so even if you want to use this service just to buy shoe polish, you can.

Items available on AmazonFresh include meats, fresh produce, dairy, bread, a wide variety of household items, and more. The program is only limited to Amazon employees right now as it’s in beta but it will gradually be opened to a broader audience before it’s eventually made available to all Prime members.

There’s an obvious geographical limitation to this service. The current pickup locations can be found in Settle’s SODO and Ballard neighborhoods.
