'True Detective' Season 3 Has A Pulse, Might Be In The Works At HBO

Don’t put dirt on the grave of “True Detective” just yet, because the critically acclaimed and deeply inconsistent crime anthology series might have a little life left in it.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “True Detective” Season 3 is currently in development. No official announcement has been made by HBO regarding the series’ revival.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto has reportedly written at least two of the opening episodes, but this time around, he won’t be shouldering the burden of the delicately layered storytelling alone. “Deadwood” mastermind David Milch is also reportedly on board to help steer the ship in a new direction. Details, however, seem scarce at this time, as EW reports that the extent of the collaboration is in its “early days.”

The last we heard, “True Detective” was on an indefinite hiatus, with HBO programming chief Casey Bloys revealing that the series is “not dead but there’s no take on a third season yet.”

After a celebrated Emmy-nominated first season starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, the series slumped harder than most sophomore slumps in recent memory with an underwhelming second season that wasted the talents of Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell.

However, McConaughey has repeatedly expressed interest in returning to the series, sharing his fondness for his character Russ Rustin “Rust” Cohle in an interview last year.

“I miss Rust Cohle, man … I was a happy man when we made that for six months, because I was on my own island,” he said. “I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching ‘True Detective’ on Sunday nights.”

On a beach somewhere, McConaughey gently places his bongos down and checks his phone only to find hundreds of missed calls from HBO.

The Huffington Post has reached out to HBO and will update this post accordingly.

Chicano Starts Petition Against 'Mexico Will Pay' Costume On Amazon

A wall costume that reads “Mexico will pay!” is one of the latest additions to a growing list of offensive outfits on the Internet, and Jerónimo Saldaña is not having it.

The 37-year-old Chicano is best known for developing the popular “Make America Mexico Again” hats with the Latinx organization Mijente. He’s also the man behind a petition asking Amazon to take down the wall costume, which he says is “anti-Latinx.”

“I first saw the Amazon costume on my friend’s Facebook timeline,” he told The Huffington Post. “My social media community has become such an important part of resistance and staying vigilant.”

“I had seen the racist costume during the presidential campaign during news coverage of Trump rallies and always found it offensive,” he continued. “Since Trump’s election, I have read articles reporting instances of high school students chanting ‘build that wall’ and ‘Trump’ at students of color and immediately connected those incidents with the normalization of white supremacy, which I believe this costume represents.”

Saldaña’s petition is addressed to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and posted on the Mijente website.

“The petition is a simple act of resistance meant to push back against the normalization of hate,” he told HuffPost. “Its creation is a tool for informing folks on social media that Amazon is helping to perpetuate violence against Latinxs by allowing for the sale of this racist costume.”

“I think it’s important for consumers to know what Amazon condones and perpetuates. The petition is a tool to hold them accountable and to let their CEO know that Latinxs will not tolerate the sale of items promoting hate and xenophobia,” he continued.

The Los Angeles native, who currently lives in New York City, said he has not heard from Amazon since he started the petition. Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post regarding the costume and petition.
