Those who remember, or at least know, the good old days of Pocket PCs, PDAs, and, particularly, the Psion Series 5, might get a kick out of this new crowdfunding venture. UK startup Pocket Computer has gone to Indiegogo to present the idea of a sort of revival of that line of devices. Called the Gemini PDA, this “ultra-thin clamshell … Continue reading

NYT: Snapchat built its own drone

When it comes to your blockbuster games, sure these guys have a ton of money backing them up, but it also means that for the most part, they sometimes have to play it safe with the gameplay and features in order to ensure that their audience won’t be alienated, or create too niche of a title that not many people will end up playing.
This is where indie games shine where they typically are constrained by these rules. If you’re a huge fan of indie games, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Nintendo has recently promised that gamers can expect to find at least 60 indie titles launched for the upcoming Nintendo Switch later this year.
According to Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Publisher and Developer Relations, “Our Nindies Showcase gives fans a taste of some of the great content on its way to Nintendo eShop. We’re working with both mainstream and independent developers to make Nintendo Switch the destination for entertaining games and experiences.”
Based on the list on Nintendo’s website, it seems that there will be quite a few popular indie games headed for the Switch. One of those titles is the popular farming sim Stardew Valley in which the Switch will be the first console to get the new multiplayer feature.

The Nintendo Switch has an official release date set for the 3rd of March. However it seems that over in the UAE, the console might have been released earlier than expected. This is thanks to images surfacing on Instagram of the Switch being sold, and according to the folks at Gadgets 360, they have confirmed that this was true with some of their readers from the UAE.
That being said we guess that doesn’t really matter especially when you consider that the games aren’t available just yet. All of the Switch’s launch games are expected to be released on the same day as the console itself, so while retailers might be selling the Switch early, the fact that there are no accompanying games means all you’ve got is a console that turns on and off and nothing more.
A couple of weeks ago, a video surfaced showing a Nintendo Switch in operation which was initially thought to have been an early release as well, but it was later suggested that the console was actually stolen and that the gamer was never accidentally sent the console two weeks in advance.
Anyway like we said the Switch will be available in the next few days and if you haven’t pre-ordered the console, not to worry as companies such as Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart will have units available for walk-in customers.

Recently Canon launched their latest mirrorless camera in the form of the EOS M6. So far Canon’s mirrorless efforts have been largely focused on consumers, so the question is could Canon some day launch a mirrorless EOS M camera system that could be aimed at the professional market?
Speaking in an interview with DPreview, the company’s execs revealed that a professional-grade EOS M camera is possible. When asked, “Do you think there could be a professional-level EOS M model sometime in the future?”, they replied by saying, “Obviously we think it could be possible, there is a potential, but we do not want to put a time frame on that.”
Basically Canon thinks it’s possible but maybe this isn’t something that we should expect anytime soon. So far Sony has been kind of leading the charge when it comes to professional mirrorless systems. The company’s full-frame A7 series of mirrorless cameras have been pretty well-received with quite a few industry professionals opting to ditch their DSLRs for the mirrorless system.
Recently Fujifilm also expressed their opinion that the next-generation mirrorless cameras could have the potential to beat DSLRs, which also means that mirrorless systems could soon replace DSLRs inside the bags of professionals, so if Canon doesn’t want to be late to the party, let’s hope that they already have something in mind.

Google has always had two “word processing” apps, Google Keep for notes, snippets, images and whatnot, and Google Docs for more extensive and sophisticated documents. Each have its own strengths and purpose but they aren’t so unrelated to each other. Fortunately, Google has finally seen that connection as well and is enabling a seamless flow from one app to the … Continue reading

Every year, Google mixes up its presence at MWC a bit. After a few years of handing out smoothies and Android pins inside one of the halls here in Barcelona, Google made the move outside in recent years. That works great when it’s warm, but on a chilly day, it doesn’t exactly make for a pleasant experience. Here is what Google had to offer this year. Read More
Last week NVIDIA posted a teaser on its website which seemed to hint that the company had a new GPU that they were about to unveil. According to the information that was datamined, it was suggested that we could be looking at the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, and sure enough the information was right.
NVIDIA has officially announced what they are calling their fastest gaming GPU ever in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Given that the GTX 1080 was announced last year, this is basically part of NVIDIA’s “Ti” lineup of GPUs which is designated to be the company’s top of the line offering.
According to NVIDIA, they are boasting that the GPU will be able to deliver up to 35% more performance compared to the regular GTX 1080, and that it will also come with 11GB of GDDR5X VRAM that runs at a staggering 11Gbps. The company is also claiming how the GTX 1080 Ti is faster than the Titan X Pascal that costs $1,200, so basically what you will be getting is a more powerful GPU for almost half the price.
It is also less power hungry at 220 watts versus the Titan X that requires 250 watts. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be available on the 10th of March with pre-orders beginning on the 2nd of March and it is priced at $699. In the meantime if you can’t quite justify the $699 price tag, the regular GTX 1080 will have its price dropped to around $500 which makes it ever so slightly more affordable.
