Nintendo Switch Will Be Available At Walmart To Walk-In Customers

If for whatever reason you did not pre-order the Nintendo Switch, maybe you’re waiting for reviews or maybe you’re still in the fence, know that should you change your mind, Walmart has announced that they will be accepting walk-in customers who are interested in picking up the console on launch day even if they have not pre-order a unit.

The company has confirmed to Polygon that they will have stock available for those customers. According to Walmart, “Starting at 12:01 a.m. (local time) on Friday, March 3, the Nintendo Switch will be available at Walmart Supercenters across the country for $299. Walmart will have the system available in gray, red and blue colors.”

Walmart isn’t the only company that will be accepting walk-ins as other retailers such as Best Buy and GameStop are doing the same too. However we guess just to be safe and if you want to avoid making a trip and getting disappointed, Walmart has advised customers to phone ahead to their local stores to ensure that there are units available before they arrive.

The Nintendo Switch is currently set for a release on the 3rd of March where there will be a handful of games available at launch, the most notable of the lot being The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Pokemon GO Has Surpassed 650 Million Downloads

Niantic’s Pokemon GO has been something of a cultural and technological hit. It introduced people to Pokemon who never played any of the games before, and it also showed how augmented reality could be used in gaming. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that the game has managed to pass 650 million in terms of downloads.

This is according to a report from Polygon in which they are quoting Niantic who made the announcement at the 2017 GDC. However despite this impressive figure, Polygon has suggested that this could actually be a sign of Pokemon GO slowing down. This is because in the two months following its debut, the game racked up 500 million downloads.

So for Pokemon GO to add an extra 150 million downloads in the months after that, it certainly isn’t at the same pace as it once was. However we guess this is to be expected and is pretty normal for most apps where at the start there will be a spike in interest before it tapers off and normalizes. This is where developers need to keep users interested with updates and new features.

That being said, Pokemon GO has apparently experienced a bit of a surge in downloads recently thanks to the addition of 80 new Pokemon. We expect that they will probably experience another surge when Pokemon trading and player battles are finally implemented.

Google-branded “Pixel” laptop not in the plans but possible

Once upon a time, Google’s branding scheme in the computing space was simple. It used “Nexus” for smartphones and tablets and “Pixel” for Chromebooks. Today, however, we have a Pixel C Android tablet, a Google Pixel phone and, ironically, no Pixel Chromebook in sight. At least not on Google’s store. And that isn’t by accident. In an interview with journalists … Continue reading
