Microsoft Surface Studio International Release Details Revealed

Microsoft wowed us with the Surface Studio all-in-one PC late last year and it has only been selling the computer in the United States since then. This is the first time that Microsoft has confirmed the Surface Studio international release details. The computer is initially going to be released in three additional countries outside the United States before it’s eventually made available for purchase officially in other countries across the globe.

Microsoft has confirmed that starting today, both the Surface Studio and Surface Dial are available for pre-order in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The devices will be available for purchase in these markets on April 20th.

It’s interesting to note that no European market is included in the first international appearance of the Surface Studio. That’s not all. Microsoft is also releasing its updated Surface Book with performance base in additional markets.

It can now be pre-ordered in a handful of markets such as Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It will also be released on April 20th.

As far as a new Surface Book is concerned, recent reports suggest that one might not be coming in the near future. In fact, the hardware event Microsoft is expected to conduct in the coming weeks is said to be sans the Surface Book 2 notebook.

Intel Says Its 10nm Chips Will Be A ‘Full Generation’ Ahead Of Samsung

Intel’s 10 nanometer Cannon Lake chips have long been delayed but that’s not stopping the company from trying to increase the hype surrounding them. The company is claiming that its 10 nanometer Cannon Lake chips will be a “full generation” ahead of those from rivals like Samsung and TSMC when they finally arrive. Intel says that this will be possible due to “hyper scaling” which basically incorporates twice as many transistors in the same space.

The company says that its Cannon Lake chips will deliver a 25 percent improvement in performance and 45 percent improvement in power efficiency compared to the existing Kaby Lake processors when they finally arrive before the end of this year.

These are certainly tall claims from Intel particularly when you consider the fact that rivals like Samsung are already producing chips on the 10 nanometer process, chips like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which will power almost all Android flagship smartphones this year. Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 processor is based on the 10nm process.

Intel points out that while the chip trace sizes will remain the same, its chips will have better feature density and will have twice as many transistors in the same size as the chips from Samsung. This will allow the company to “continue the economics of Moore’s Law” by producing smaller die sizes.

Intel is even planning to come out with enhanced versions of its 10nm chips down the line which will be called 10+ and 10++. They will promise a 15 and 30 percent boost in performance respectively.

After skipping the official Nobel Prize ceremony in Sweden last December, Bob Dylan will finally accept his award for literature this weekend.

The singer-songwriter will travel to Sweden this weekend, where he’ll perform two concerts.

“The Swedish Academy is very much looking forward to the weekend and will show up at one of the performances,” Nobel spokesperson Sara Danius said in a statement Wednesday.

At one of the shows, “The Academy will then hand over Dylan’s Nobel diploma and the Nobel medal, and congratulate him on the Nobel Prize in Literature. The setting will be small and intimate, and no media will be present; only Bob Dylan and members of the Academy will attend, all according to Dylan’s wishes.”

The Grammy winner was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature last October, stirring up plenty of debates in the literary world about whether or not a songwriter deserved the recognition. Dylan himself didn’t acknowledge the honor for nearly two weeks, which a Swedish Academy member called “impolite and arrogant.”

Eventually, the folk singer told The Telegraph the win was, “amazing, incredible. Who dreams about something like that?”

Dylan did not attend the official ceremony due to scheduling conflicts, and he has yet to deliver his required lecture (which must be given within six months of receiving the honor). He did, however, provide a “speech of thanks” for the ceremony and plans to give a recorded version of his lecture “at a later date,” according to Rolling Stone.

At the ceremony, he was honored with a tribute performance by Patti Smith and his speech was read by Swedish literary historian and critic Horace Engdahl.

Leonardo DiCaprio Calls Darlene Cates 'Best Acting Mom I Ever Had' In Tribute

“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” actress Darlene Cates died over the weekend at the age of 69. Her daughter, Sheri, confirmed the news on Monday, and now her on-screen son is speaking out.

Leonardo DiCaprio played Arnie Grape in the 1993 classic. The role of the developmentally disabled character would earn the actor his first Academy Award nomination.

Though Cates’ character, Bonnie Grape, was grief-stricken and known in the movie for neglecting her children, DiCaprio called the actress “the best acting mom I ever had” in a tribute following her death.

The actor wrote, “Darlene was the best acting mom I ever had the privilege of working alongside. Her endearing personality and incredible talent will live on in the memories of those who knew her, and those who loved her work. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

Following “Gilbert Grape,” Cates’ other acting roles included “Picket Fences” and “Touched by an Angel.” Though her acting career featured a relatively small amount of titles, it’s clear she made a significant impact on those around her.

Someone Abandoned 2 Sick Foals In A Field And Left Them To Die

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Animal welfare workers in eastern England are investigating why two sick, underweight ponies were dumped in a wet, muddy field.

The pair of fillies were “just hours from death” when an inspector from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals acted on an anonymous tip-off and found them in Longstanton, near Cambridge, on March 3.

They were both severely underweight, there was no grazing in the field and they had just been left to starve to death,” the inspector, Richard Lythgoe, wrote in a statement.

One of the ponies, an 8-month-old piebald who’s since been named Pancake, was severely dehydrated, suffering from chronic malnutrition and unable to stand up by herself. The other, a 6-month-old black pony now named Poppet, was anemic and “in extremely poor condition due to parasites,” according to the RSPCA.

The foals were taken to the Cambridge Equine Hospital at the University of Cambridge for treatment. Almost a month since they were found, the two are making slow but steady recoveries, officials said.

“It was touch and go for a while, but with intensive care, regular turning and lifting, careful deworming and feeding, Pancake has gradually grown in strength and has made great progress,” said equine veterinarian Vikki Scott.

Poppet, meanwhile, has “grown in strength” and is “beginning to come out of her shell” to “show off her true, cheeky personality in full,” Scott added.

The RSPCA’s Lythgoe is asking members of the public to share any information they have about the incident, which he said wasn’t “isolated.”

“The RSPCA deal with harrowing incidents of dead and dying horses being dumped like rubbish on a regular basis, as some owners cannot afford or do not care about their horse enough to pay for veterinary care,” he said.

However, Lythgoe did reveal that Pancake and Poppet, having won over the hearts of equine hospital staff, have already found their forever homes, which they’ll move to after making full recoveries.
