It can also treat…

Google Starts Downranking Fake News

The term fake news has been thrown around a lot over the past few months. It basically refers to the use of online mediums to spread stories that may not be entirely true. Facebook has been working hard to combat the spread of fake news on the world’s largest social network and now the world’s most popular online search engine is taking some steps of its own to combat the menace of fake news.

Google does point out that these bad results are rare on its website with just 0.25 percent being offensive or clearly misleading. Nevertheless, there’s always room to improve and it’s a good thing that Google is taking this step now more than ever.

Google today announced that it’s rolling out some changes to search results with the aim to combat fake news as well as offensive content. This has been done by tweaking signals that are taken into account when ranking a web page, signals include the freshness and the frequency of a site’s appearance.

This will enable Google to rank more authoritative sources highly while downranking fake content. It has now created new guidelines for the Human Search Quality Raters so that they can more effectively spot false stories.

Google is even going to give users more power to spot and report sketchy content. Users can click on the feedback link to provide feedback about a particular autocomplete suggestion or Featured Snippet that they believe is sketchy.

AMD Radeon Pro Duo Features Two Polaris GPUs In One Card

AMD today announced the launch of what it claims to be the world’s first dual-GPU graphics card meant for professionals. The AMD Radeon Pro Duo features two Polaris-based graphics cards packed into one single card. The company claims that this package provides 11.45 teraflops of power. It’s geared towards customers who want a graphics solution to hand professional workload like VR content creation.

Featuring 32GB GDDR5 memory, the Radeon Pro Duo is very capable of handling larger data sets, intricate 3D models, higher resolution videos, and complex assemblies. It operates at a max power of 250W and harnesses the power of 4608 stream processors for a combined performance of up to 11.45 teraflops.

Professionals can rely on this graphics card to work on up to four 4K monitors at 60Hz, drive the latest 8K single monitor display at 30Hz using a single cable or an 8K display at 60Hz using a dual cable solution.

AMD says that on select professional applications, the Radeon Pro Duo provides up to 2 times faster performance when compared with the Radeon Pro WX7100 and up to twice as fast performance than the closest competing professional graphics card which it believes to be the NVIDIA Titan X.

AMD’s new graphics card provides more performance than the previous dual-GPU Radeon Pro Duo based on the Fiji architecture which was launched about a year back. It’s also cheaper, costing just $999 compared to $1,499 for its predecessor.

Galaxy S8 Quick Launch Camera Option Not Available Everywhere

Many Samsung smartphones allow you to quickly launch the camera by pressing the home button twice quickly. You can’t do that on the Galaxy S8 since the device doesn’t have a physical home button. However, Samsung has linked the quick launch camera option with the handset’s power button. Press it twice quickly and the camera should be launched, ideally, but that doesn’t appear to be the case for all users.

The ability to quick launch the camera on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ by pressing the power button twice quickly appears to be available in most markets. However, a new report suggests that this feature is not available in all markets where the Galaxy S8 has been released so far.

Many of you might already be aware that Samsung’s devices get slightly different firmware releases in different markets, some firmware tend to include features that are specific to that particular market, so if the quick launch camera option is not working somewhere it’s possibly because of a software issue.

It’s not entirely clear at this point in time why Samsung appears to have decided to not enable this feature in some markets across the globe where the Galaxy S8 is already out. Hopefully, it will have an explanation for us in the near future.

If it’s not going to explain, at least one can hope that the company will rectify the matter by sending out an update which enables this feature on all Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ handsets across the globe.

Uber Aims For Flying Car Test In 2020

It has been a while since Uber revealed its VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) craft plans. The company confirmed that it was working on the idea of flying taxis which will be able to take its customers from one point to the other. The company’s Elevate summit kicked off in Dallas today and Uber confirmed during its keynote that it’s aiming to demonstrate its Elevate Network in 2020. That’s an ambitious goal, to say the least.

Uber’s vision of the future involves self-flying taxis that will take-off and land vertically which will make them perfect for use in big cities like New York and London. Customers will just need to hop onboard and they will then be flown to their destination.

It goes without saying that it’s going to take a lot of time before the network goes into service for the public. Technological challenges notwithstanding, there are countless legal hurdles that have to be cleared before something like this can even be possible.

The company will work on building partnerships with local real estate companies to find suitable spots for vehicleports where these VTOL crafts will be based. It’s also going to work with experienced aircraft manufacturers who are already developing VTOL vehicles, the companies include the likes of Bell Helicopter and Embraer.

Uber is committed, though, and it’s working with the cities of Dallas-Fort Worth and Dubai to launch pilot programs for its Elevate Network. Uber will attempt the first public demonstration of the Elevate Network at the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.

GTA Online Tiny Racers Mode Live Now

Rockstar has released a new update for Grand Theft Auto 5 which brings the GTA Online Tiny Racers mode for the game’s online component. Tiny Racers is a modified version of stunt races in which the camera is placed overhead in a style that’s similar to GTA games of the past. The update is out now and live for all Grand Theft Auto 5 players.

Races in the Tiny Racers mode are limited to four players online. Those who fall too far behind their fellow players are automatically blown up. Players have to compete and they can pick up power-ups along the way which range from special cars to rockets.

Rockstar has also made Tiny Racers this week’s bonus event so players will get double RP and GTA$ for a limited period of time. Rockstar is also providing a “tax rebate” of sorts to players who just log into GTA Online between now and Sunday, May 1st on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This rebate of $425,000 will be deposited in the player’s Maze Bank account in May.

The best part about these updates is that players don’t have to download or install anything. They just need to fire up their console or PC and will find that the update has already been enabled in Grand Theft Auto 5.

Future Predictions of Online Gambling

Does the world of online gambling fascinate you? Do you dream of one day honing your online poker skills enough that you can book a trip to Las Vegas to compete at the WSOP (World Series of Poker)? If so, chances are you’re pretty darn intrigued to see what the future holds for the world of online gambling. To help you get excited and so you’ll know what to expect, today we’ve listed three of our predictions for the future of online gambling.

1 – Skill-based games
Millennials live their lives online, and therefore it’s no surprise that they’re gradually turning their attentions to the world of online gambling. But exactly how will those designing the online gambling games capture their imaginations? We predict it will be through more skill-based games that challenge the players, and hold their interest for longer. You can also expect a move towards more social gaming, with those gambling live online streaming their matches and game stats so that people can watch and learn from home.

2 – More virtual reality

Although virtual online casinos, where you can mingle with the staff and have a wander around the casino floor, are already out there and fantastic, sadly they’re not accessible to all just yet due to the cost of virtual reality headsets. As further developments are made, and the hardware comes down in costs, you can expect the world of the online casinos to improve and improve. Additionally, we’re seeing a move towards online gamers seeking out games where they can play single and multi-player in the same arena. It seems they enjoy a carefully crafted world just as much as an excellent storyline. As things develop we should expect to see a combination of the two made available, i.e. one minute you’re playing some roulette with a buddy in an online casino, the next you wander off on a little spin-off quest. Sounds exciting doesn’t it!

3 – Bitcoin to grow in popularity

Moving forward we expect to see Bitcoin become the go-to currency for the online gambling world. The digital currency is already relatively popular with players attracted by practically non-existent transaction fees, the fact it offers anonymity, and because it allows players to dodge the low withdrawal limits of online casinos. As more jurisdictions accept the online currency, Bitcoin is likely to go from strength to strength.

4 – More US States to offer regulated online gambling

2017 looks to be the year that more US states finally legalise regulated online gambling. Industry experts believe that the future of online gambling in the US starts and ends with the decision about to be made in Pennsylvania. As we speak the Pennsylvania House of Representatives has introduced a bill that would legalise online gambling, which is expected to be reviewed in the senate any day now. It’s thought that the decision made in Pennsylvania could be the encouragement that other states, most notably New York and California, need to climb aboard the online gambling bandwagon.

Maintaining Your Computer

Keeping your computer maintained is very similar to a car, in many ways. Regular servicing and cleaning is essential to extending the life span of your computer – there are plenty of tools to make this job easy but there are also some jobs you might’ve never known you needed to do:

Regular Cleaning

This doesn’t necessarily mean giving your screen a wipe down every now and then, though it helps, cleaning your computer refers to its software as much as the hardware. You can install several applications, such as ioBit, to clean through your computer’s registry and remove any unnecessary or junk files.

Anti-Virus

The last thing anyone wants is a virus, whether it’s the person themselves or their computer. In the same way a virus will make a user ill; a computer virus will affect its performance but you can add extra defences to your computer to protect it from virus infiltration.

Anti-Virus software, such as Avast or Norton, will stop viruses accessing your system by identifying them during downloads and scanning incoming updates and E-Mails.

AdBlock

Easily one of the most useful browser extenstions; AdBlock removes banner and pop up advertising from the websites you visit, eliminating the risk of clicking on an advert and being directed to an untrustworthy website – if there’s nothing to click; you can’t click it!

Add Ons

When accessing the internet; you need to know that you can trust the websites you’re accessing. There are many available and you could conduct research via lengthy Google searching but it’s far easier to simply download the Web of Trust add on for your browser.

Any website you attempt to access will have a trust rating depending on the information available from user reviews etc.

Cooling Your PC

A hot PC is an unhappy computer, generally speaking, as the hard drive will heat up when there are too many processes operating at any one time. If you have a lot of programmes running at once; you may feel your laptop become hot or hear a tower’s fan kick in to cool the system down.

Fan assisted laptop mounts and uprated PC cooling systems are available and well worth investing in.
