Bill Maher To Liberals: Stop Trying To Win Over Donald Trump Voters With Facts

Bill Maher has said liberals are wasting their breath by trying to win over President Donald Trump’s supporters with facts.

On Friday’s broadcast of “Real Time,” Maher said facts simply didn’t matter to Trump’s core voters who “aren’t changing their minds because the problem isn’t in the mind, it’s lower, it’s emotional.”

Maher joked how Trump “looks and acts like a man who’s been painting his face with orange lead for forty years.” But he then added how his supporters “know” that and “don’t care.”

He could have Anne Frank’s skeleton in his closet. They’d all vote for him again,” he quipped.

Maher put it down to Trump’s supporters having a “gut feeling that the world has changed and they don’t like it,” noting how they believe he’s going to “change it back to the way it was.”

Senator's Anti-LGBTQ Dig Sparks A Tutu Revolution In Wyoming

A Wyoming senator may have already apologized for insensitive comments about a man in a tutu, but it was too late to stop a tutu rebellion in his state.

Republican Mike Enzi told a group of middle school and high school students in the town of Greybull on April 20 an anecdote about a man who goes to bars wearing a tutu and “is always surprised that he gets in fights,” reported the Greybull Standard. Enzi added: “Well, he kind of asks for it.”

The comment was especially thoughtless because of the savage fatal torture in Laramie, Wyoming, nine years ago of 21-year-old Matthew Shepard, who was attacked because he was gay. Strangely, Enzi made his comments as he was encouraging a “little civility” among people when he was asked what he was doing for the LGBTQ community. He noted, however, that “you can be just about anything you want to be, as long as you don’t push it in somebody’s face.”

He has since apologized for his comments.

The Wyoming Democratic Party quickly blasted Enzi’s remarks. “Tell Senator Enzi that no one is ‘asking for it’ when they wear the clothes that make them feel authentic in their sexual orientation or gender identity,” stated a post on the party’s Facebook page.

Activists and supporters quickly girded for battle — in tutus. Students, teachers and other professionals are showing up at school, work, church and in bars in tutus as part of a popular new #LiveAndLetTutu movement, reports National Public Radio. The logo for the movement is an image of a buffalo bearing the state seal — and wearing a tutu.

Supporters are arranging family game nights, tutu pub crawls and other events — and posting lots of selfies on Twitter. People from other states are tutu-ing it in solidarity.

One group, likely inspired by the homemade pussy hats of the women’s march on Washington early this year, offered a tutu-making workshop in Laramie on Thursday.

Though the upstart movement was done in a spirit of high-energy and brash fun, activists also cautioned that the activity has a serious message, noted NPR.

“Some of us ‘wear tutus’ on a daily basis and I would really appreciate it if you didn’t try and make a joke out of yourself while wearing one,” wrote Ezra Hanson in a post on the Facebook page for the movement. “Respect the cause, respect the oppressed.”

The senator issued an apology for his remarks on Tuesday.

“I regret a poor choice of words during part of my presentation,” Enzi said in a statement. “None of us is infallible and I apologize to anyone who has taken offense. No offense was intended. Quite the opposite in fact, and so I ask for your understanding as well.”

He added: “No person, including LGBT individuals, should feel unsafe in their community.”

Twitter Explodes Over Trump's Surprise At The Demands Of Being President

After Donald Trump confessed to Reuters that he thought being president would be “easier” than it is, Twitter blew up with aghast responses from voters, people in politics and at least one former head of state, who pleaded with the president to please quit the White House and just stick to the golf links.

Trump’s remarks in an interview published Friday (”This is more work than in my previous life; I thought it would be easier”) drew a storm of comments expressing astonishment and derision, mostly delivered in the snarkiest way possible.

The comments were similar to Trump’s astonishing remark in February, when he observed: “Nobody knew health care could be so complicated.” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) laughed at first when asked about that comment but then got serious: ”Yeah, we got a clue. When you provide health care in a nation of 320 million people, yeah, it is very, very complicated.”

If anything, Trump’s latest comments were even more rattling, drawing a stunned response from former Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada and a zinger from commentator Keith Olbermann.

Oxford political researcher Brian Klaas weighed in with shock, and Democratic political operative David Axelrod wondered at the reality of it.

A particularly relentless rat-a-tat-tat rant came from someone with major chops in the Republican Party, David Frum, George W. Bush’s speechwriter, who wrote no less than 14 tweets attacking the president’s comments.

And the Twitter field was littered with those who just tried to make some sense of it all.

Organizer Of Fyre Festival Fiasco Considers Throwing Another One Next Year

By now, you’ve probably heard the of Fyre Festival.

It was billed as a multi-weekend luxury musical festival, thrown by Ja Rule on a private island in the Bahamas. It would be sprawling with models in bikinis and social media elite. Ticket packages reportedly cost anywhere between $1,200 to up to $250,000. Yachts would somehow be involved.

The festival didn’t turn out that way. Ticket holders were met with a desolate, unorganized mess. Tents were half-made, catering served sliced bread and cheese, and headlining talent Blink 182 dropped out last minute. Guests who didn’t immediately head for the airport to escape were stranded in what some called “a disaster tent city.”

Some claimed the U.S. Embassy had to help get people home.

Now, Billy McFarland, the 25-year-old head of Fyre Fest, said he’s considering trying again next year ― to which we can’t help but wonder: This has got to be a joke, right?

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, McFarland, who had previously launched a sketchy credit card company aimed at millennials, attempted to explain his festival’s rise and demise. He started with the history of his bromance with Ja Rule.

“Together, we became friends and business partners,” McFarland said in the article, which was published on Friday, roughly when hundreds of people were probably scrolling through the sarcastic memes and bleak photos posted with the #FyreFestival hashtag.

“We were a little ambitious,” McFarland continued. He explained that the undeveloped island had no water or sewage. By the time guests arrived, he said, a storm had ruined tents and water pipes, causing check-in delays. Then, he added, they decided to pull the plug on the event and offer refunds to guests.

“We were a little naïve in thinking for the first time we could do this ourselves,” McFarland admitted. “Next year, we will definitely start earlier. The reality is, we weren’t experienced enough to keep up.”

McFarland even offered a tentative date for the Fyre Fest re-do: May 2018.

“Next year, we will definitely start earlier.”

It’s not clear why McFarland and Ja Rule think the festival-going public will trust them again. But, for what it’s worth, McFarland seems committed to his future, hypothetical event. He even offered to donate a portion of each ticket ― $1.50 ― to the Bahamian Red Cross.

“The one change we will make is we will not try to do it ourselves,” McFarland said. “We will make sure there is infrastructure in place to support us.”

Ja Rule, for his part, apologized for the failed event and wrote on Instagram: “this is NOT MY FAULT.”

AT&T Makes Changes To Grandfathered Unlimited Tablet Data Plans

Unlimited data plans are awesome, but we’ve seen how some users have abused the system where they have gone above and beyond their data usage where it is no longer considered reasonable. This is why carriers have in the past tried to cut out unlimited data plans, or were forced to introduced throttling.

Unfortunately for AT&T customers, you guys can expect similar throttling being applied to your services. The carrier has recently sent out emails to customers on grandfathered unlimited tablet data plans and have informed them that the unlimited status is being eliminated on the 24th of May, 2017.

What this means is that after the 24th of May, if you were to exceed more than 22GB of data during a single bill period, you could experienced slowed down internet speeds during times of network congestion. This is a huge change considering that before this, users did not have a cap in place, so for those who never really paid attention to how much data they are consuming, this is something they’ll need to start monitoring on their own.

No doubt this is a bummer for tablet users out there, but like we said carriers are starting to crack down on unlimited data plans and also users who are taking advantage of it, so this move shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

LG G6 Mini Could Be In The Works

In the past few years we’ve noticed a trend in smartphone companies where they will release a flagship smartphone and will follow up with a “mini” variant. Usually this mini variant, as its name suggests, will be a smaller version for users who don’t really want a huge display. Sometimes there are changes to the hardware, but for the most part we’re talking about a smaller device.

In a report from TechnoBuffalo, they claim to have seen an internal document from LG in which it suggests that a mini version of the LG G6 could be in the works. The handset in question is rumored to sport a 5.4-inch display and has a screen-to-body ratio of under 80%. It is also rumored to maintain the 18:9 display aspect ratio that LG was boasting about with the LG G6, and is also close to what the Samsung Galaxy S8 uses (18.5:9).

Other than the display size, not much else is known about the rumored LG G6 Mini, such as whether or not it will maintain the same specs as its big brother, or if it will come with slightly watered down hardware in order for it to appeal to customers on a tighter budget. No word on when the LG G6 Mini could be announced, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled, although until we get the official word from LG, be sure to take it with a grain of salt.

Google’s CEO Hints That Ads Could Be Coming To Google Maps

Google Maps is one of Google’s more popular services and for good reason. Not only is Google Maps very detailed and useful with turn-by-turn navigation services, traffic updates, and more, but it is also free and free of ads. This means that users can use the service without worrying that ads might pop up and get in the way.

However that could change in the future, assuming that Google’s CEO’s words are anything to go by. Speaking to a Wall Street analyst who inquired about Google possibly turning Maps into a moneymaker, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai replied by saying, “I’m sure you have noticed changes in Google Maps with the last few months.”

“If you open Google Maps, you’re traveling or out on a Friday evening, we start surfacing a lot more info about what you can do, places to eat and so on. So those are beginning to get good feedback from users and I think that gives us an opportunity to add value there overtime as well.”

Pichai wasn’t explicit about saying that ads will be coming, but some have interpreted his words to mean just that. Exactly how these ads might surface remains to be seen. It could come in the form of suggested locations that pop up when you are searching around the area, or maybe it could be similar to how Google is serving ads up in search results, but either way we’ll just have to wait and see, but hopefully if and when ads do come to Google Maps, it won’t be intrusive.
