HTC U Unveiling Teased For May 16

We have been hearing a fair number of rumors and seen a couple of leaks regarding the HTC U, and we’re sure that just like ourselves, many of you guys are curious as to when the handset will be officially revealed. The good news is that it will be revealed next month, or at least that’s according to an invite that HTC has sent out to the press.

As you can see in the invite above, HTC has teased that the HTC U will be announced on the 16th of May, 2017, which is just a little under a month away from today. The invite shows a very blurred out silhouette of the phone, along with the tagline that reads, “Squeeze for the brilliant”. This is in line with the rumors that the HTC U “Ocean” could have a touch-sensitive frame in which users can squeeze, swipe, and tap to interact with the phone.

This teaser seems to pretty much confirm that, although the exact functionality remains to be seen, but we should have the details soon. So far rumors of the handset have been pretty standard, like it could sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. We also heard that it might feature Bluetooth 5 which debuted with the Samsung Galaxy S8. Other rumors have also suggested that HTC could be dropping the headphone jack from the phone. Either way check back with us on the 16th of May for the details.

HTC teases a squeezable U event next month

HTC just can’t catch a break in the smartphone market. Just when you thought the HTC 10 would be a winner, it fails to capture the market by storm. The HTC U Ultra’s super shiny facade wasn’t also enough to fend off criticism of its less than impressive features. All these isn’t new to HTC and the Taiwanese company isn’t … Continue reading

Nat & Friends take a look at the new Google Earth

Earlier this week, Google gave Earth some much-needed love. Not the literal Earth, of course, but Google Earth. More or less 10 years old, Google Earth hasn’t exactly aged well with Google’s other services, especially its cousin, Google Maps. With the “re-launch” of Google Earth, however, the question of how exactly was it made naturally comes up. Just like with … Continue reading

Stephen Colbert Shreds 'Self-Righteous Landfill Of Angry Garbage' Bill O'Reilly

“The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert had some sharp words for Bill O’Reilly, the longtime Fox News host who was dumped by the network on Wednesday amid allegations of sexual harassment.

“I owe a lot to Bill O’Reilly,” Colbert said Wednesday night. “I spent over nine years playing a character based largely on him ― and then 12 months in therapy to de-bloviate myself.”

Colbert cited the Fox News statement, which said that “by ratings standards,” O’Reilly was “one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news.”

The audience booed, but Colbert cut them off.

“No, no, no. By ratings standards, he is,” Colbert said. “By moral standards, he was a self-righteous landfill of angry garbage.”

Then Colbert brought back the “other” Stephen Colbert, the one based on O’Reilly, to give “Papa Bear” a fond farewell:

MasterCard now has a fingerprint-protected card

Fingerprint sensors are now everywhere. Once the stuff of science fiction and spy movies, the biometric system now unlocks smartphones, laptops, and credit cards. Yes, credit cards. That is, if MasterCard’s pilot test is successful. The financial services giant has just announced that it has kicked off test in South Africa for a “next generation” card that combines the usual … Continue reading

Sarah Palin Rips Elizabeth Warren For Saying 'Fight Like A Girl'

It’s a fight over “fight like a girl.”

In a recent interview with Breitbart News, Sarah Palin blasted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for using the phrase, which has long been a favorite of the former Alaska governor.

Warren used it several times while promoting her book, “This Fight Is Our Fight,” including in a tweet that featured an image taken with the “Fearless Girl” statue on Wall Street:

Breitbart News claimed Palin first used the term in 2011 and reported she wasn’t happy about Warren’s use of the phrase.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate was quoted as saying:

“I don’t know. Coming from liberals who urge women to claim victimization, ‘Fight like a girl’ just doesn’t sound the same as when legit fighters for equality say it, mean it, live it, and will never give it up.”

Needless to say, the phrase long predates 2011.

Warren said she was inspired by its use during the Women’s March in Boston last January.

“I saw this little girl, and she was riding on her daddy’s shoulders, and she’s holding up this sign, and the sign said, ‘I fight like a girl,’” Warren told NPR. “And I thought, ‘Me too, sweetie!’ You know, she’s in the fight. And this is where our army’s gonna come from.”

Trevor Noah Gives Bill O’Reilly The Send-Off He Deserves

Fox News probably won’t be giving Bill O’Reilly a proper farewell, considering the damning sexual harassment allegations that have led to his dismissal on Wednesday.

So the “Daily Show” decided to do it for them.

“You may not know this but Bill O’Reilly was the biggest figure in the history of cable news,” Trevor Noah said during Wednesday night’s episode. “At one point, no one even came close, because they were afraid that he might sexually harass them.”

To honor the scorned political commentator, Noah went over O’Reilly’s greatest hits, which included 20 years of O’Reilly’s rants about the “war on Christmas” and the “war on white Christian men,” and, of course, the TV host’s belligerent racism that was often directed at black men.

“Looking back on O’Reilly’s greatest hits, the one thing that’s hard to believe was that it took this long for him to lose his job,” Noah said. “He was so racist, it somehow became funny.”

And no O’Reilly tribute would be complete without his famous “Inside Edition” meltdown, which Noah reenacted surprisingly well.

In the clip above, relive O’Reilly’s decades-long career with the “Daily Show” and bid your final farewells to “The O’Reilly Factor.”

UC Berkeley Postpones Ann Coulter's Lecture Amid Fears Of Violence

Officials at the University of California, Berkeley, have postponed Ann Coulter’s scheduled lecture on immigration at its campus over safety concerns and fear that the event could spark violent protests.

Dan Mogulof, a university spokesman, told The Huffington Post that police learned that groups responsible for the recent violent demonstrations on campus and in the city of Berkeley planned to target Coulter’s event, initially scheduled for April 27.

After news of the event’s cancellation spread, Coulter maintained that she would make an appearance at Berkeley next week to deliver her speech.

The announcement came less than a week after fighting broke out between supporters and opponents of President Donald Trump during a “Patriots Day” free speech rally at a park in the city of Berkeley. Violence also broke out at UC Berkeley in February when conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to appear on campus.

In a letter sent Tuesday night, university officials told the Berkeley College Republicans, one of the student organizations responsible for the event, that they were rescheduling Coulter’s appearance after consulting with campus police over safety.

The letter said, in part:

We therefore must now work together to reschedule her appearance for a later date. We regret this outcome — especially given our unqualified support for our students’ right to bring speakers of their choosing to the University, and our deep commitment to the values and principles embedded in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. …

We realize that this is disappointing news, but the good news is that UCPD and Student Affairs remain firmly committed to working with you to find an alternative time and date for Ms. Coulter to come speak here at Berkeley.

In the letter, officials also blamed the student organizations for setting a date for Coulter’s event without first notifying the university.

“UCPD’s concerns and recommendations were significantly influenced by escalating violence during demonstration-related events on the campus and surrounding areas of the city,” Mogulof told HuffPost.

On Wednesday, Coulter claimed that UC Berkeley officials sent her a list of demands that had to be met before her appearance.

I’ve acceded to all their silly demands, which they thought would end it,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “When I said, ‘yes, yes, yes,’ they canceled anyway. No more clear-cut proof that taxpayer-supported universities will not allow conservative speakers.”

blog post by Young America’s Foundation, which was co-sponsoring Coulter’s event, said that the university demanded she speak in the afternoon at a site to be announced shortly before the event and to admit only students.

Asked about the reported demands, Berkeley spokesman Mogulof said, “We actually have no idea what she’s talking about because we’ve never actually been in direct contact with her.”

Mogulof said that they’ve only communicated with Coulter through the student organizations that were sponsoring her. The only requests the university has made were safety-related, he added.

“Why she sees those as demands we’re uncertain, because they were simply the recommendations we received from our police department about what would be required to protect her and, most importantly, to maximize the chances that the event could be held successfully and safely,” Mogulof explained.

“In other words, we can’t hold an event when our police department says, ‘No, sorry. We can’t provide safety and security.’”

It is unclear where in Berkeley Coulter might be speaking next week, but the conservative pundit tweeted Wednesday that she has instructed a “Berkeley student group” to rent out a venue.

The Berkeley College Republicans did not immediately return HuffPost’s request for comment.
