The Painstaking Detail Zack Snyder Put Into Superman Snapping Somebody's Neck

The thing about Zack Snyder is that he’s always completely into everything he puts on-screen. He has tons of enthusiasm for everything—including making sure that Henry Cavill snapped Michael Shannon’s neck in Man of Steel exactly right.

More Evidence That Aliens Aren’t Trying to Communicate With Us

Some SETI researchers believe the best way to detect aliens is to search the skies for their laser beams. In the largest survey of its kind, astronomers scanned 5,600 stars in search of these optical signals—and they found…absolutely nothing. Nada. Zilch. Here’s what that means to SETI and the ongoing hunt for alien…

Gummy Army Men Will Blow Up Your Gut

A couple months ago, I mentioned that you could buy a massive bag of gummy bears of the Haribo variety over at Amazon for like $10. I ordered up a bag of those ones, and when they came in, they were stale and hard. I was pissed about it too. I mean I ate them, it was five effing pounds of gummies after all. Once that bag was out, I decided to try the five-pound bag of Albanese 12-flavor Gummy Bears and they are the best gummies ever. They were all soft, had way more flavor than the Haribo version and for only two dollars more I will order more. In fact I am considering a gummy bear subscription. Amazon really knows what I like and as a bonus they won’t make your rectum hate you after a gummy eating marathon.

If you aren’t a fan of gummy bears, perhaps these gummy army men will appease your combative sweet tooth. The downside is they only come in green, so they are all apple flavored. That said, the reviews are very positive, and people say they taste like green apple Jolly Ranchers.

They look just like those toy army men you used to play with as a kid. They come in four different poses, so you can act out battle scenes with them, and then the losing army’s heads and legs get eaten off.

You can grab a five-pound bag of these over at Amazon for about $16(USD).

SNES Classic reportedly in the works (because of course it is)

Nintendo has been in the news a lot lately for its rather wacky decision to cancel the popular NES Classic Edition. Thus far, Nintendo hasn’t given an exact reason for this decision, only saying that the NES Classic was never intended to be a long-running product. Today, though, we’re hearing a rather interesting rumor that could have something to do … Continue reading

Zara's 'Pepe The Frog' Skirt Is Just Wrong, Wrong, Wrong

Oh, Zara. Here we go again.

The retailer, a repeat offender when it comes to offensive products and advertising, is under fire yet again for carrying a skirt embroidered with a character resembling Pepe the Frog

The cartoon amphibian has become a symbol of hate after being coopted by anti-Semites and white supremacists.

Pepe was originally an innocent stoner character created by artist Matt Furie in 2005, but was turned into a mascot for the alt-right on websites like 4chan and Reddit and is listed as a “hate symbol” by the Anti-Defamation League.

Though the ADL notes that “because so many Pepe the Frog memes are not bigoted in nature, it is important to examine use of the meme only in context,” it’s shocking Zara didn’t see the skirt as problematic. The item marks yet another blunder for the hugely successful yet troubled clothing chain, reminding us of the time in 2014 it sold pajamas that looked exactly like concentration camp uniforms.

Zara pulled the skirt from its website, but not before Twitter got a look.

Some people, though, are still grappling with the fact that a cartoon frog ever became so controversial in the first place.

The skirt appeared to be styled with the Zara’s “Nope” denim jacket, which is a pretty perfect way to sum up our feelings about the whole thing

A request for comment from Zara was not immediately returned.

New Prince Music Surprise-Drops Before First Anniversary Of His Death

When it rains Prince, it pours ― purple or otherwise.

In honor of the one-year anniversary of the pop star’s death, a posthumous EP titled “Deliverance” with six previously unreleased tracks is set for release on Friday, April 21.

Prince co-wrote and co-produced the new songs between 2006 and 2008 with longtime producer and collaborator Ian Boxill. Apart from the title track, the EP is comprised of the four-part “Man Opera” (“I Am,” “Touch Me,” “Sunrise Sunset” and “No One Else”), as well as an extended version of “I Am.”

Boxill has apparently been working on the music over the last year, completing and mixing the EP to honor his late friend. Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park compound in April 2016. Months later, the death was ruled an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl.

“I believe ‘Deliverance’ is a timely release with everything going on in the world today, and in light of the one-year anniversary of his passing. I hope when people hear Prince singing these songs it will bring comfort to many,” Boxill said in a statement. “Prince once told me that he would go to bed every night thinking of ways to bypass major labels and get his music directly to the public.  When considering how to release this important work, we decided to go independent because that’s what Prince would have wanted.”

As the singer was an independent artist when the songs were recorded, the new music will be released under an indie label, Rogue Music Alliance, instead of Universal Music Group, which owns the licensing rights to much of his catalogue.

But reports have already begun circulating that a lawsuit has been filed against Boxhill on behalf of Paisley Park and the artist’s estate. Per Variety, the parties claim the producer is “trying to exploit one or more songs for his personal gain,” stating that the recordings are valued at more than $75,000. They plan to fight for ownership, despite the producer’s claims that he owns the recordings.

In the meantime, we can all enjoy it. Listen to the bluesy title track, “Deliverance,” below.

Kim Kardashian Faces Backlash Over Tweet About Flu Weight Loss

Kim Kardashian tweeting about losing weight isn’t particularly surprising, but saying her recent flu was “an amazing diet”? That raised more than a few eyebrows.

The reality star tweeted on Wednesday morning that the flu is a great way to lose weight, adding that she dropped six pounds just in time for the Met Gala on May 1.

The reactions to the tweet have been heavily mixed, as a lot of people are noting that the flu can lead to death.

The tweet was likely not meant maliciously, though Kardashian should know that between 12,000 and 59,000 people die from influenza every year in the U.S., according to the CDC.

One of the most notable responses to the tweet was made by a user who pointed out the similarities between the comment and a scene in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada.” In the scene, Emily Blunt’s character says that she’s “one stomach flu away from her goal weight.”

We get the desire to be fit, folks, but let’s all do it healthily, yeah?
