Spring doesn’t last long in New York City, but with it comes the Tribeca Film Festival. Kicking off Wednesday and continuing through April 30, this year marks the 16th iteration of Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal’s gala, founded to help revive downtown Manhattan after 9/11.

Tribeca’s television and virtual-reality lineups are a cut above most other festivals. Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” will premiere this week, and Ken Burns’ Vietnam War documentary series and the new season of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” are on tap for next week, as well as a slew of other titles. Additionally, the “Godfather” and “Reservoir Dogs” casts will reunite for anniversary retrospectives, and a handful of fascinating duos will sit down to discuss their craft, including Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks, Noah Baumbach and Dustin Hoffman, Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner, and Barbra Streisand and Robert Rodriguez

Along the way, The Huffington Post will provide ongoing coverage of Tribeca’s buzziest movies, shows and events. It all starts with the opening-night premiere of the new Clive Davis documentary, followed by a concert featuring Aretha Franklin, Carly Simon, Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson, Dionne Warwick and Earth, Wind & Fire. Here’s a handful of titles that are on our radar over the next two weeks.

Khizr And Ghazala Khan Endorse Democrat In Virginia Governor's Race

Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the Gold Star family that delivered one of the most powerful messages at Democratic National Convention, have endorsed Tom Perriello in the Virginia gubernatorial race.

The couple sent out a fundraising email on Perriello’s behalf Wednesday morning. The message focused on President Donald Trump’s attempts to ban Muslims from the U.S., citing Islamophobic attacks and highlighting how the candidate they’re backing would fight back.

“Resisting President Trump and defeating the hate and bigotry that he sows will take people of conviction and good conscience standing up and fighting back. Tom Perriello is one of those people,” said the Khans in a statement that the Perriello campaign released. “We support Tom Perriello for governor and will be voting for him in June because he will fiercely resist the unconstitutional actions of President Trump while advancing an inclusive Virginia that welcomes all.”

Perriello was the couple’s congressman in Virginia from 2009 to 2011.

He is running against Virginia’s Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam in the June 13 Democratic primary. Perriello has worked to create an anti-Trump message and has earned the support of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

The Khans’ son Capt. Humayun Khan, who like his parents was a naturalized citizen, was protecting his fellow soldiers when a bomb killed him in Iraq.

In one of the most enduring images of the Democrats’ convention, the soldier’s parents appeared on stage, where Khizr Khan attacked Trump’s anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim rhetoric, saying the businessman had “sacrificed nothing.” Khizr Khan held up a pocket constitution and said, “Let me ask you, have you even read the U.S. Constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy.”

Following the November election, Khan urged Trump to unite the country. He has pressed for boycotts of “anything and everything” if Trump’s Muslim ban is not repealed.

Get Revenge on Mom with this Mother’s Day Card

Do you still think about that time you were in K-Mart back in 1984 and mom refused to buy you that awesome plastic Coyote toy car from Hardcastle and McCormick? Well it’s time for some revenge on good ol’ mom. ThinkGeek has a Mother’s Day card that will prank mom in more ways than one.

It looks like a nice card from the outside, and says inside that you will always be her baby. Then it lures her to press a button to start what seems to be a nice recorded message. Instead mom gets to hear recorded crying babies. Then if she gets desperate and presses the button again, the cries get louder.

THEN if she gets really angry and violent and rips the card up to get the battery out and shut the cries up, she gets glitter bombed. You should have bought me that car mom. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…
