SNES Mini Rumored To Launch Later This Year

Last week Nintendo made an announcement that surprised, shocked, and disappointed many gamers in one fell swoop: they would be discontinuing the NES Classic Edition. Considering how many units the console had sold, many were wondering if Nintendo was crazy to cut off such a perfect revenue stream.

However it turns out it might be because the company has a successor in the works. According to a report from Eurogamer, they have heard from their sources that Nintendo plans on releasing the SNES Mini later this year, or the SNES Classic Edition or whatever Nintendo plans on calling it. Assuming this is true, this is even better news as the SNES did have better games on it, many of which we’re hoping will find its way onto the rumored console.

This report might also explain why over in Japan, Nintendo’s website for the Famicom Classic Edition stated that production had ended “for now” and that Nintendo would inform customers when “production is being resumed”, suggesting that the discontinuation would be temporary, which we guess could also pave the way for a Super Famicom Classic Edition.

We are certainly hoping that the report is true, which given Eurogamer’s track record for such leaks could very well be the case, especially when you consider how much people are trying to sell their NES Classic Editions on eBay where prices have been marked up 400-500%!

Nintendo Releases Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ‘What’s New’ Trailer

Given that pretty much every console Nintendo has released has received a copy or variant of Mario Kart, it did not come as a surprise to learn that the Nintendo Switch would also be getting a Mario Kart of its own. This comes in the form of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which is basically an enhanced version of the original Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U.

For those who are wondering about the game, Nintendo has recently published a video on YouTube in which they basically go over what are the new features that gamers can expect from Mario Kart 8. This includes a new battle mode, new characters that players can choose that are from other Nintendo franchises, and the game will also include all the DLCs that have been released for the game to date.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is set for a release on the 28th of April which means that next week you could be playing the game over the weekend with your friends. With the Nintendo Switch selling 2.4 million units worldwide, and with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild having an almost 1-to-1 attach rate, we’re pretty sure that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will have a similar effect on the console’s sales and popularity upon its release. In the meantime you can check out the video above if it’s your first time hearing about the game.

Windows 10 will be getting a Power throttling feature

The Windows 10 Creators Update introduced a Game Mode that would, in theory, hand over most of the hardware resources and processing power to games. Now it seems that Microsoft has plans to go the other way and introduce a feature that would reduce programs’ use of resources in order to prolong battery life. “Power throttling” isn’t going to be … Continue reading

You Can Now Play Classic Mac Games In Your Browser

Mac computers back in the day ran on very different software and looked nothing like the Mac computers that we know and are familiar with today. Granted the UI back in the day isn’t exactly what you would call sleek, but for those who grew up with such computers can probably admit that there’s a certain charm about them.

Now for those who had Mac computers growing up and remembered playing games on them, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Internet Archive has uploaded emulated Mac software onto its website, meaning that you’ll be able to sort of experience what it was like to use a Mac back in the day, and also play some classic games such as the infamous Frogger which has gone on to inspire quite a few modern mobile titles, Space Invaders, Dark Castle, Airborne, and Lode Runner just to name a few.

These games weren’t exclusive to Mac but with the emulator you’ll be able to experience what it is like to play games on a Mac from back in the day. You’ll also be able to experience certain Mac apps such as MacPaint and Microsoft Word. Speaking to WIRED, archivist Jason Scott said,“Software is culturally valuable. It’s important to be able to access it, as you could with a book or a movie.”

For those who are interested in checking it out, head on over to the Internet Archive’s website for the details and complete list of available games and apps.

Malaysia Airlines Will Be First To Track Its Fleet With Satellites

Several years ago, Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished into thin air and quickly became one of the greater aviation mysteries in history. It is still unclear as to what might have happened, with some offering up some conspiracy theories about the plane being hijacked, while others have offered a more straightforward theory that it simply crashed into the ocean.

Whether or not we’ll ever find out what happened to MH370 remains to be seen, but moving forward it seems that the airline company wants to keep better tabs on its flight. According to a report from Bloomberg, Malaysia Airlines has struck a deal with Aireon, SITAONAIR, and FlightAware and will be the first airline company to track its fleet using satellite technology which is due to be completed in 2018.

As it stands, most flights are tracked by transmitting their position with technology known as ADS-B, with these signals being trackable via ground or space. However with this satellite tracking technology, real-time tracking will be one of the benefits of the technology. According to Malaysia Airlines Chief Operating Officer Izham Ismail, “Real-time global aircraft tracking has long been a goal of the aviation community. We are proud to be the first airline to adopt this solution.”

That being said as Bloomberg points out, whether or not it will prevent another disappearance like MH370 is unclear. This is because the flight’s location transmitter went dead (whether it was intentional or not is a different story) and would not have been visible to the satellite network anyway.

Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ10 Hybrid Camera Launched

For those unfamiliar, Fujifilm has a series of Instax film cameras where just like Polaroid cameras, you could snap a photo and have it printed on the spot. It relied on film which meant that you couldn’t really take back photos you snapped, which we suppose is kind of the charm of such a camera.

However if you love the idea of being able to pick and choose your photos, Fujifilm has officially launched the Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ10. If this sounds familiar, it is because a couple of weeks ago Fujifilm had confirmed the existence of the camera but now it looks like we have the official specs and features.

Basically this camera combines the charm of being able to print your photos on the spot together with digital image processing technology. This should result in photos that are of greater image quality, and also the ability to edit/process your photos before deciding which to print. Given that film packs aren’t exactly cheap, this could save you a lot of money on wasted shots.

There will be a bunch of different filters that users can apply to their photos and also comes with dual shutter buttons, so whether you’re left handed or right handed you’ll be able to pull the trigger. In terms of pricing and availability, the Fujifilm Instax SQUARE SQ10 is priced at $280 and is expected to be made available this coming May.

Razer Unveils New Hammerhead V2 In-Ear Headphones

Removing the headphone jack on smartphones seems to be something that several smartphone manufacturers have done in recent times, with Apple probably being the most notable company to do so. This means that users who bought the iPhone 7/7 Plus have to rely on Bluetooth, the headphone jack adapter, or a pair of Lightning earphones.

The good news for fans of Razer is that the company has recently announced their new Hammerhead V2 in-ear headphones, which will come in either a Lightning option or a Bluetooth option. This means that you can choose whether you want to go completely wireless, or if you’re a bit of an audiophile and believe (and can also tell) that wired audio sounds better.

According to Razer, “Both Razer Hammerhead models are outfitted with custom-tuned 10 mm dynamic audio drivers, which are larger than most earbuds in their class. An aluminum acoustic chamber enhances music reproduction while adding to durability. Each Razer Hammerhead comes with a carrying case that includes additional ear tip sizes to ensure fit and sound isolation.”

As for pricing, Razer has the headphones priced at $100 each regardless of which model you pick. They are expected to be made available later this month so just head on over to Razer’s website if you’d like to check them out or place your order.
