PayPal Will Soon Work With Android Pay

PayPal is one of the most widely used services for making payments and transferring money. It’s used by tens of millions of people across the globe. The company continues to expand its partnerships in order to make it easier for people to use PayPal. It has now confirmed that it’s extending its partnership with Google which will enable users to opt for PayPal as a payment method in Google’s mobile payments service Android Pay.

PayPal and Google forged their partnership around three years ago when PayPal was added as a payment method in Google Play. PayPal users will be able to use the service as a payment method in Android Pay anywhere they can use Google’s payment service in-store, in-app, and online.

Customers in the United States will be able to use PayPal in Android Pay at retailers like Walgreens and Dunkin’ Donuts. Initially, users will be able to pay using their PayPal balance. In the coming months, they will also be allowed to pay with cards that have been stored with PayPal.

This feature will be enabled by PayPal’s recent tokenization partnerships with major card networks. PayPal support for Android Pay is going to be supported on devices powered by Android version 4.4 or higher, this includes KitKat, Marshmallow, and Nougat.

Sony PS4 Slim 1TB Costs $299

Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 Slim in September last year alongside the PlayStation 4 Pro. As the name suggests, it’s more or less the same console but one that has lost a few pounds and inches. At launch, it came with a 500GB hard drive and was priced at $299. Sony today announced that it has doubled the PlayStation 4 Slim storage to 1TB without increasing the price.

As previously mentioned, it’s more or less the same console that Sony released back in 2013. However, it does come with a slightly redesigned DualShock 4 controller. At launch, it was offered with a 500GB hard drive for $299.

The PlayStation 4 Slim can now be purchased with a 1TB hard drive for the same price, $299. It now offers more bang for the buck when compared to the Xbox One S which retails for $299 with a 500GB hard drive. However, many bundles are available for the Xbox One S that feature 1TB of storage for $349.

The company says that the PlayStation 4 Slim console with double the storage is going to be available for purchase from retailers like Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy later this month.

This is going to give those who have been on the fence about buying a PlayStation 4 an additional incentive to spend the money.

AMD Radeon RX500 Graphics Cards Promise More Performance

AMD came out with its RX400 series graphics cards last year, it marketed them as powerful options for PC gamers who didn’t want to spend a lot of money on hardware. The company today announced the successor to this series. AMD Radeon RX500 series graphics cards have been officially launched today. The company promises that they’re going to provide more performance but without having the customer pay more money for it.

There aren’t a lot of major differences between the RX400 and RX500 series graphics cards. However, they do come with increased clock speeds throughout the entire series without a price increase.

The best model, AMD RX580, touts a base speed of 1257 MHz as well as a 1340 MHz boost speed which is an improvement from the 1120 MHz base and 1266 MHz boost on the RX480. Similar improvements can be seen across the entire lineup.

The company has also added an entry-level option to the lineup. The RX550 has a 1183 MHz boost speed and 2GB of RAM. The price starts at $79 so it’s a very affordable option for those who don’t want to rely on an integrated graphics card.

What AMD customers are really going to appreciate is the fact that even though the new series provides more performance, they don’t have to pay more for it. AMD’s RX580 with 8GB RAM costs $229, the RX580 with 4GB RAM costs $199, the RX570 with 4GB RAM costs $169 and AMD is asking $99 for the RX560 with 2GB of RAM.

Trump Confidant Floats Crazy RBG-For-Merrick-Garland SCOTUS Swap

If you woke up this morning with the need to read about a really stupid idea someone had, rejoice! For here is some stupid-idea manna from stupid-idea heaven:

Ha, what now? President Donald Trump should “do a deal” with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg that would see her vacate her Supreme Court seat for a swap-a-doo with Merrick Garland? This is great. Surprisingly, this notion was not dreamed up by noted twin-engine bad idea machine Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen, though you could be forgiven for thinking so. No, this is a plan hatched by Newsmax CEO and Trump confidant Chris Ruddy, and written up by Business Insider’s Allan Smith. It goes a little something like this:

“I think they made a big mistake by pulling the nuclear option,” Ruddy said. “I wrote about it. I said they should not have done it. I think that he still should pick Merrick Garland and do a deal. Ruth Bader Ginsburg wants to retire, and I think they should swap her out, give her an offer where they would put Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court.”

“They would remove a very liberal Democrat with a moderate, consensus Democrat, who I think Garland is,” Ruddy added. “And I think it would be a huge move and a sign for Trump that he’s willing to break through the political ice.”

So, the good news here is that Chris Ruddy is pretty close to the president, and if he can just manage to get this bee into Trump’s bonnet, it might consume a chunk of time that Trump would otherwise spend doing anything else. That would be a good enough outcome. But that’s about as far as this particular notion would ever go. You see, right off the bat, I can imagine some pretty significant impediments to this “deal.”

Let’s begin with the notion that “Ruth Bader Ginsburg wants to retire.” Does she? Just about every year, someone asks Ginsburg if she wants to retire, and her answer is always a resounding “Nah, son” (paraphrase). The last time anyone checked in with Ginsburg on this, it was Politico in October 2016. On that occasion, she said that she’d retire “when it’s time,” and clarified that it’d be “time” when she “can’t do the job full-steam.”

There’s been no indication that she’s changed her mind on this, so God knows where Ruddy is getting this “she wants to retire” stuff. Are you allowed to just pull strange assertions out of the air now and insist they’re true? Because Chris Ruddy really wants to run the Mariinsky Ballet. Someone should “do a deal” and bring their current artistic director, Valery Gergiev, to Newsmax.

Wow. I have to say, it felt pretty great to just make stuff up like that. And the good news is that my deal makes at least as much sense as the one Ruddy himself has proposed.

I’m having a hard time imagining how this deal would be brokered, or why Ginsburg would go along with it. By all accounts, she doesn’t seem to like Trump, and wouldn’t be inclined to even participate in this plan. What’s more, allowing herself to be replaced by Merrick Garland would be a singularly silly way for Ginsburg to cap off a legacy that’s been widely celebrated of late. Where’s the upside for Ginsburg? The thing about “deals” is that all parties involved are supposed to get some kind of benefit.

But, OK, let’s say that Ginsburg takes leave of her senses and agrees to this. Then we’d just have the thorny little problem that this is not how the process of replacing a Supreme Court Justice works. Remember how there’s this thing called “the Senate” and they just nuked the judicial filibuster, making it possible to confirm anyone to the Supreme Court with a simple majority? Well, this newly empowered Senate, which is run by the Republican Party, is not going to agree to a plan in which Merrick Garland joins the court.

Now, can I be so certain about that? Well, it’s true that all I have to go on is the fact that those same Republicans just spent a year of their lives keeping Garland off the Supreme Court ― an obscure gesture that received very little attention, to be sure ― but I just have this funny feeling they might prefer to fill any potential court vacancy with a really conservative justice, as opposed to a moderately liberal one.

But who knows? In a world where Ruth Bader Ginsburg is dealmaking to her historical detriment with a president she opposes, maybe everyone’s gone nuts to an equal degree. Maybe we swap out Justice Kennedy with a kitten wearing a top hat? In this weird world, I suppose anything is possible. I look forward to reading Justice Kitten With A Top Hat’s dissents.

Kevin Spacey Is Here To Save The 71st Annual Tony Awards

From a murderous politico to charming emcee: Kevin Spacey, star of stage and screen, has been announced as the host of the 71st Annual Tony Awards.

Spacey, who currently stars in the hit Netflix series “House of Cards” as Frank Underwood, a scheming Southern Democrat with an unquenchable thirst for power, will take the stage at Radio City Music Hall on June 11 for the live CBS telecast of the awards show.

The TV, film, and theater actor is a veteran of award shows. In 1991, he won a Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his performance in Neil Simon’s “Lost in Yonkers.” He’s also taken home two Oscars, for his work in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty.”

In comparison to the Academy Awards and the Emmys, the Tony Awards can be viewed as a relatively niche award show, honoring performances and productions many outside of the New York metropolitan area haven’t had the opportunity to witness. Its viewership is typically smaller: In February, the unexpectedly eventful Oscars broadcast garnered 32.9 million viewers, while the 2016 Tony Awards tallied 8.7 million viewers

Even that modest award-show viewership may prove to be an outlier for the Broadway awards, which have garnered around 7 million viewers in previous years. The 2016 awards, hosted by late-night host James Corden, saw a 35 percent increase in viewership that many attributed to the national obsession with Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Hamilton.” Not only did the show clean up at the Tonys, but viewers were treated to a number from the musical ― without having to mortgage their house for an elusive ticket.

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Now that the year of “Hamilton” has passed, producers fear that the audiences will leave, according to ABC. Can CBS hope to retain those gains in audience by leading with A-list host Frank Underwood Kevin Spacey? That remains to be seen ― and we’re willing to wait for it. (Sorry, “Hamilton” fans.)

Adidas Sent Congratulatory Email To People Who 'Survived' Boston Marathon

Adidas has some explaining to do.

On Tuesday, one day after the Boston Marathon, the brand sent out an email about the big race. The email, which was sent to The Huffington Post, advertised new products and also asked runners to share pictures of their marathon experience.

But it was the email subject line, “Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!” that got people talking. In 2013, three people were killed and 264 injured when two homemade bombs went off at the marathon’s finish line. The Huffington Post has reached out to Adidas for comment and will update accordingly.

Some people on Twitter were horrified by the email:

While others didn’t find it offensive:

Others were busy preparing for an Adidas apology and a new PR job opening (similar to what happened with United):

Considering all of the hell that Pepsi and United have gone through lately, a job in PR isn’t looking so appealing right now.
