Facebook Live Used Once Again To Broadcast Homicide Live

As live streaming platforms become popular it’s becoming evident that they have a dark side as well. There have been plenty of cases of violence being live streamed. Last year, a man named Antonio Perkins from Chicago was shot to death while he was using Facebook Live to share what appeared to be any other evening. The Cleveland Police Department has confirmed today that it’s now looking for a suspect who streamed a homicide on Facebook Live.

Steve Stephens is the suspect in question, the police are trying to find him after he committed a homicide and then streamed it on Facebook Live.

Reports reveal that the video showed Stephens talking to an elderly man before shooting him through the window of a car. Stephens even claimed on the video that he had killed other people and would continue to do so.

The Cleveland Police Department has warned the public that the suspect is armed and dangerous, it warns them not to approach the suspect if they see him.

In a statement provided to Engadget, a spokesperson for Facebook said that “This is a horrific crime and we do not allow this kind of content on Facebook. We take our responsibility to keep people safe on Facebook very seriously, and are in touch with law enforcement in emergencies when there are direct threats to physical safety.”

Tesla’s Destination Charging Network Expanded To 5,000 Locations

Tesla has already spread its Supercharger network far and wide to enable owners to travel long distances without much range anxiety. However, its Destination Charging network also plays an important part in its infrastructure. Tesla continues to improve both networks. The company has actually expanded its Destination Charging network to more than 5,000 locations.

Tesla’s Destination Charging network has grown more than 25 percent globally over the past three months. It’s now live in more than 5,000 locations across the globe.

The company’s Destination Charging network uses level 2 chargers which are installed at hotels and restaurants. This allows Tesla owners to charge their cars once they arrive at their destination, hence the name Destination Chargers.

The Destination Charger program is opened to businesses like resorts, shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants. This enables Tesla to expand its charging network without having to spend too much money while business owners have the obvious incentive of bringing in more Tesla owners who will no doubt be lured in by the promise of charging stations for their all-electric cars.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already said that Tesla is planning to double the number of its Supercharger stations to 7,000 units and quadruple Destination Chargers to more than 15,000 units by the end of this year.

Russia Says Robot Being Taught To Use Guns Is ‘Not A Terminator’

Russia has been trying to teach a robot to shoot guns out of both hands. This has led to concerns that perhaps the country is developing a combat machine of sorts which may be used as a weapon when the need arises. Russia’s deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin says that’s not the case. “We are not creating a Terminator,” he added.

The robot is called Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research and it’s actually going to be sent on a solo space mission in 2021. It’s being taught to shoot guns out of both hands to improve its motor skills and decision-making abilities, at least that’s what the creators of this robot say.

Developed by Android Technics and the Advanced Research Fund, FEDOR has already been taught a wide variety of skills which include the likes of screwing in light bulbs, using keys and tools as well as driving an actual car.

“Robot platform F.E.D.O.R. showed shooting skills with two hands,” wrote Russia’s deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin on Twitter, but also pointed out that “We are not creating a Terminator, but artificial intelligence that will be of great practical significance in various fields.”

Even though this robot was originally created for rescue work, engineers have pointed out that it could be used for military purposes as well but that’s an impression that Russia doesn’t seem to want for the robot at least at this point in time.

Young Celtics Fan Uses Grown-Up Word

The first-seeded Boston Celtics dropped Game 1 of their opening round playoff series against the Chicago Bulls, and you don’t need to be a trained lip-reader to decipher how this young fan feels about it.

Take a look:

Cleveland Cavaliers fans, who surely would’ve liked to have that No. 1 seed, didn’t let the kid off easy either.

Hang in there, man. It’s a long road.

19 Women React To The Messy, Imperfect 'Girls' Finale

After six seasons, “Girls” has come to an end.

Sunday night’s series finale was both devastating and celebratory. Viewers said goodbye over the course of the last few weeks to the show’s main ensemble: First Ray and Adam, then Elijah, Jessa and Shosh. And finally, Marnie and Hannah.

While the penultimate episode focused on Hannah Horvath’s respective friendships ― though refusing to wrap them up neatly ― the finale gave viewers a peek at Hannah’s new life upstate with a baby. There was crying and screaming and, naturally, nudity.

In true “Girls” fashion, there were a lot of mixed reviews and a fair amount of notably quotable moments. (Our favorite was Hannah’s mother Loreen telling her, “You know who else is in emotional pain? Fucking everyone for their whole lives.”)

We’ve collected some of the best reactions from women on the web who waxed nostalgic, critiqued aspects of the show, and more:

Thanks for good times and bathroom cupcakes, “Girls.”

Trump Urges Twitter Followers To Read A Completely Blank Book

On Monday, at 8:13 a.m., President Donald Trump published a surprising tweet. Surprising for two reasons, in fact: Firstly, it recommended a book of “Reasons to Vote for Democrats” to his followers, and secondly, it recommended a book.

Had the president been hacked? What could account for such an uncharacteristic tweet?

Not to worry ― it all makes complete sense. Reasons to Vote for Democrats: A Comprehensive Guide by Michael J. Knowles is neither pro-Democrat nor, in the traditional sense, a book. It’s a 266-page volume filled with empty pages. (Get it? There are no reasons to vote for Democrats!)

Knowles, who brought out Reasons to Vote for Democrats in February, is hardly the first to use this old gag ― even in this election cycle. For example, back in November, Why Trump Deserves Trust, Respect and Admiration by David King became available on Amazon.

“This book is full of blank pages,” the description says. “Despite years of research, we could not find anything to say on this subject.”

The author includes a helpful hint for what to do with all the clean, unused pages inside: “Please feel free to use this book for notes.” Good idea! Here’s hoping the trees that were pulped for these joke books were not chopped down in vain.

Reasons to Vote for Democrats, despite being completely free of content, has been a top seller on Amazon for weeks. Thousands of consumers have snapped up $6 paperback copies, and the author, 26-year-old Knowles, was invited on “Fox and Friends” in March to discuss his creation.

Setting aside the president’s deliberate trolling of the Democratic Party ― of which a significant percentage of his constituents identify as members ― Trump’s ringing endorsement of a book without any words beyond the table of contents struck some as almost too on-the-nose, given his notorious inability to name any books he has read all the way through.

Knowing what we know about Trump’s reading habits, it’s little wonder he might define “reading enjoyment” as “not having to read any words” ― now we just have confirmation.

Another GOPer Has Compared Planned Parenthood To Nazi Germany

An Ohio state representative has unpublished her Facebook page after comparing Planned Parenthood to Nazi Germany ― and she’s the second member of the GOP to make such a comparison in the last month.

Middletown-based state Rep. Candice Keller, who represents Ohio’s 53rd District, posted a meme on her official Facebook page Thursday.

“One day we will look at this,” the image reads, with an arrow pointing to the Planned Parenthood logo, “the same way we look back at this” ― with an arrow pointing to a Nazi flag.

Keller captioned the meme with one word, “This,” implying her agreement with its message.

Many on Twitter were quick to react and call for Ohioans to “vote her out.”

Keller defended the post to WKRC, a Cincinnati-based news station.

“Just as the Nazis took the lives of millions of innocent people and sold their valuables for profit, Planned Parenthood has done likewise as we have seen in hidden camera videos,” she said in a statement. “Planned Parenthood is a horrific industry that profits from the innocent and the American people should be appalled at their unconscionable activities. They deserve not one more penny of either federal or state monies.”

The “hidden camera videos” that Keller mentions were found to be a baseless and misleading smear campaign after a costly and lengthy investigation. In March, the anti-abortion advocates who made the videos were charged with 15 felonies in California for “violating the privacy of health-care providers by recording confidential information without their consent.”

On Saturday, Keller tweeted that her Facebook page was not deleted, but put into “unpublished” status. She also said that Facebook is “investigating violations of Community Standards Policy by others.”

She told WKRC that the page will be back up and running soon.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off this weekend and, as has become tradition, celebrities flocked to the desert for the music, and perhaps more importantly, the photo ops.

Naturally, reigning Coachella queen Vanessa Hudgens was there in all her boho festival fashion glory, and Paris Hilton showed up to “#slay.” Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were there too, and they gave us what might be their cutest couple photo yet. And of course, Kendall and Kylie Jenner showed up to host a party for Bumble.

Ivanka Trump Gets Trolled By Librarians After Tone-Deaf Tweet

Ivanka Trump took to her Twitter last week to applaud librarians and libraries during National Library Week. Twitter, however, was not having it.

In March, President Donald Trump released his proposed budget for 2018, which guts four independent cultural agencies, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services (ILMS), The Washington Post reported. Cutting federal dollars will hurt the state and local levels that leverage funding for community institutions like ― you guessed it ― libraries.

Per The Hill

ILMS Director Dr. Kathryn Matthew notes that $214 million of the $230 million budget goes directly to grants to state and local libraries, including $155 million distributed through a population-based formula grant.

So, when the first daughter tweeted about applauding librarians last week, she was not met with much praise.

The replies rolled in.

Luckily, there are librarians across the country who are still trying to use their positions for good. Samantha Lee, who works at the Enfield Public Library in Connecticut, told The Huffington Post that libraries are more important now than ever in the current political climate.

“What’s become more obvious, is how fractured the country is,” Lee said. “There’s been a cultural lack of communication which has fostered misunderstandings and hard feelings. Librarians are sensing this and responding to it. We’re reaffirming libraries as community spaces ― welcoming and safe spaces. We celebrate diversity, intellectual freedom, and democracy.”
