DJI Now Offering An ‘Advanced’ Entry-Level Model Of The Phantom 4

DJI is shaking up its drone lineup today. It’s offering two new models for customers who are not willing to spend more than $1,500 for a DJI Phantom 4 Pro and aren’t particularly fond of the Mavic Pro which starts at $749. DJI has decided to launch two new “Advanced” entry-level models of the Phantom 4. They’re called the Phantom 4 Advanced and Advanced+.

Those who had been meaning to pick up the base model of the Phantom 4 drone will soon be out of luck as DJI has decided to discontinue that particular model.

The Phantom 4 Advanced’s camera has a 1 inch 20 megapixel image sensor which is larger than what you get with the base Phantom 4 drone. It’s capable of shooting 4K video at 60 frames per second. It can also process 60 FPS H.264 4K video and 30 FPS H.265 4K video at 100 Mbps

DJI Phantom 4 Advanced has five sensors which will aid the drone in obstacle avoidance. The company says that customers will now get a flight time of 30 minutes.

Customers who want to have a display in the drone’s controller can opt for the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced+. Its controller has a 5.5 inch full HD display built in and that’s obviously going to reflect in the cost.

The DJI Phantom 4 Advanced costs $1,349 while the Advanced+ costs $1,649. Both drones will start shipping April 30th when DJI discontinues the current base model of the Phantom 4.

Google Home Can Keep An Eye On Airline Prices For You

If you tend to travel a lot or just like to keep an eye or airline prices should you decide to go somewhere on a whim, Google Home is now going to make life easier for you. The company’s smart speaker, which is powered by the AI-backed Google Assistant, is now capable of monitoring airline prices. Google Home can also help plan trips and check flight statuses.

You can give Google Home a relevant voice command if you need it to track a flight status for you, however, for this feature to work you will need to have Personal Results turned on.

It can also find information about flights and their prices and can even suggest what popular activities that you should look into doing when you reach your destination.

For example, to get information about their current flights, Google Home users can give voice commands like “Ok Google, is my flight on time?” They can even add an airline name in there to get the correct answer.

For the price tracking feature, commands like “Ok Google, How much are flights to New York City in 3 weeks?” will work. Flight search can also be filtered by airline, dates, and by the number of stops.

To get suggestions on what to do when you get there, just ask “Ok Google, what are the things to do in Paris?” Makes life so much easier, doesn’t it?

Amazon Echo’s Voice Recognition Technology Open To Third-Parties

Alexa, the artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant, that powers devices like the Echo has already been made available by Amazon to third-parties. That’s why we saw Alexa in so many different products at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 back in January. It’s now opening up the technology that’s crucial to its Echo devices. Amazon will provide the Echo’s voice recognition technology to third-party device manufacturers.

Amazon Alexa 7-Mic Far-Field Development Kit will now be available for those third-party OEMs who are interested in making devices which will utilize this technology. Amazon is going to closely review applications from interested parties and is only going to provide access to those who it sees great potential in.

Amazon doesn’t seem to have a plan to charge the third-party OEMs that sign up to take advantage of its voice recognition technology which is a good thing. They won’t have to pay royalties to Amazon and subsequently that cost won’t be passed on to the customers.

Echo’s microphone array is great at picking up voice commands even in crowded rooms with a lot of noise. If that technology makes its way to other devices, it will be easier for them to work with Alexa as it would more or less be the entire Amazon Echo product just packaged in a different way.

It remains to be seen just how many third-party OEMs are granted access to the technology by Amazon.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum Reminds Women That Sex Should Be Fun For Them, Too

When Jenna Dewan-Tatum dished about her marriage with husband Channing Tatum, she made sure to point out that women should be getting as much out of sex as men.

In a recent cover interview with Redbook, Dewan-Tatum talked about her relationship with Tatum ― and specifically how she keeps their sex life satisfying for them both.

“I think all women should keep [sex] exciting for themselves,” she said, before discussing the oft-assumed idea that sex should be solely exciting for men.

“People always ask, ‘Do you do anything to keep it fresh for your man?’ I hate that question. I’m like, ‘No. Why is it for your man?’ I do things to keep it fresh for myself. The lingerie I buy is not for him necessarily. It’s for us and for myself. If you feel sexy, then it’s good for you.”

Dewan-Tatum also said that feminism is a non-negotiable in their household.

“We should want equality for men and women. Men should want that too,” she said. “Chan is for women’s rights and so am I…Our daughter is young, but I think as she gets older, she’s going to be all about the standard for women we keep at home — she’s going to be strong.”

China Warns Against Force As North Korea Prepares Celebration

Military force cannot resolve tension over North Korea, China said on Thursday, while an influential Chinese newspaper urged the North to halt its nuclear programme in exchange for Chinese protection.

With a U.S. aircraft carrier group steaming to the area and tension rising, South Korea said it believed the United States would consult it before any pre-emptive strike against the North.

Fears have been growing that the reclusive North could soon conduct its sixth nuclear test or more missile launches in defiance of U.N. sanctions and stark warnings from the United States that a policy of patience was over.

China, North Korea’s sole major ally and benefactor, which nevertheless opposes its weapons programme, has called for talks leading to a peaceful resolution and the denuclearisation of the peninsula.

“Military force cannot resolve the issue,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters in Beijing.

“Amid challenge there is opportunity. Amid tensions we will also find a kind of opportunity to return to talks.”

While U.S. President Donald Trump has put North Korea on notice that he would not tolerate any provocation, U.S. officials have said his administration was focusing its strategy on tougher economic sanctions.

Trump has diverted the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group towards the Korean peninsula, which could take more than a week to arrive, in a show of force aimed at deterring North Korea from conducting another nuclear test or launching more missiles to coincide with important events and anniversaries.

Speculation about U.S. military action grew after the U.S. Navy fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airfield last week in response to a deadly gas attack.

Wang warned that history would hold any instigator to account.

“Whoever provokes the situation, whoever continues to make trouble in this place, they will have to assume historical responsibility,” Wang said.

South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se told parliament in Seoul he believed Washington would consult Seoul if it was considering a pre-emptive strike. The United States has about 28,500 troops in South Korea.

A Washington-based think-tank that monitors North Korea, 38 North, said satellite images on Wednesday showed activity around the North’s Punggye-ri nuclear test site on the east coast that indicated it was ready for a new test.

South Korean officials said there were no new signs to indicate a test was more likely, although they also said the North appeared ready to conduct a test at any time.

An influential state-backed Chinese newspaper said the best option for North Korea and its leader, Kim Jong Un, was to give up its nuclear programme, and China would protect it if it did.

“As soon as North Korea complies with China’s declared advice and suspends nuclear activities … China will actively work to protect the security of a denuclearised North Korean nation and regime,” said an editorial in the Global Times, which is published by the Communist party’s People’s Daily.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe underscored fears about threats from North Korea, telling parliament in Tokyo that Pyongyang could have the capacity to deliver missiles equipped with sarin nerve gas.

A senior Japanese diplomat said the United States was putting “maximum pressure” on North Korea to resolve issues peacefully while putting responsibility on China to sway its old ally.

“We will watch what action China takes,” the diplomat said.

While Japan did not see a high risk of military action, it expected to be consulted by the United States if it decided to attack. North Korea has about 350 missiles that can hit Japan.

“DAY OF THE SUN”

Scores of foreign journalists gathered in Pyongyang for North Korea’s biggest national day, the “Day of the Sun”, were taken to what officials billed as a “big and important event” early on Thursday.

It turned out to be the opening of a new street in the centre of the capital, attended by leader Kim.

North Korea marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of state founder Kim Il Sung on Saturday. In 2012, it tried but failed to launch a long-range rocket carrying a satellite to mark the date and tested a newly developed intermediate-range missile last year.

North Korea’s official KCNA news agency said early on Thursday that Kim Jong Un had guided training of the army’s special operation forces jumping from aircraft.

On Tuesday, North Korea warned of a nuclear attack on the United States at any sign of American aggression. The North is technically at war with the United States and South Korea after the 1950-53 Korean War ended in a truce and not a peace treaty.

The North regularly threatens to destroy both countries.

U.S. officials said Trump was considering sanctions that could include an oil embargo, banning North Korea’s airline, intercepting cargo ships, and punishing Chinese banks doing business with it.

“There’s a whole host of things that are possible, all the way up to what’s essentially a trade quarantine on North Korea,” one official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters in Washington.

Customs data in Beijing on Thursday showed that China’s coal imports from North Korea had plunged 51.6 percent in the first three months in 2017 from a year ago.

China suspended issue of permits for coal imports from North Korea on Feb. 18 as part of its effort to implement U.N. sanctions.

Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke by telephone on Wednesday, just days after they met in the United States for the first time, underscoring the sense of urgency about North Korea.

Trump said on Twitter his call with Xi was a “very good” discussion of the “menace of North Korea”. He said later on Wednesday the United States was prepared to tackle the crisis without China, if necessary.

Twitter Responds Accordingly To Dude Who Says He ‘Won’t Date Hot Women Anymore’

The New York Post published an article Wednesday evening entitled , “Why I Won’t Date Hot Women Anymore,” which profiles enlightened New York daters who’ve realized it’s possible to form personal connections with people who aren’t extremely hot.

The piece follows 40-year-old Dan Rochkind who very heroically decided to give up dating just “the prettiest young things.”

“Beautiful women who get a fair amount of attention get full of themselves,” Rochkind told the Post. “Eventually, I was dreading getting dinner with them because they couldn’t carry a conversation.”

Rochkind is described as having “a muscular build and a full head of hair” who is engaged to a non-bikini model (an actual distinction made in the article!) Carly Spindel. Spindel is described as “merely beautiful,” a clear demotion from Rochkind’s pinnacle of hot.

“[She] is a softer beauty, someone you can take home and cuddle with, and she’s very elegant,” Rochkind said. “And she’s 5-foot-2, so she can’t be a runway model, but I think she’s really beautiful and is prettier than anyone I’ve dated.”

Spindel, the vice president of her mother’s matchmaking company, was confused by how she was described in the article:

When the @nypost tells you you’re not a swimsuit model, I’m not sure if I should be flattered or insulted!?

A post shared by Carly Spindel (@carlyspindel1) on Apr 12, 2017 at 5:01pm PDT

Is Carly okay? Should we save Carly?

The article also features several interviews with individuals who are “great-looking people” that believe they’ve been “given a bad rap unfairly.” There’s the 37-year-old Brooklyn writer, Benedict Beckeld, who is described as having “a doctorate in philosophy and the body of an Adonis.”

“From my personal experience, people who are better looking are less likely to pursue advanced degrees, or play an instrument or learn other languages,” Beckeld says.

There’s also Sonali Chitre, an environmental lawyer who is “done with gorgeous guys” and is looking for a “superballer.”

Where did the Post find these people?! As if we didn’t have enough proof that the New York dating scene is a vacuous cesspool of hell and misery, this article only reinforces it.

How this article was published and isn’t classified as satire is truly incredible. And Twitter agrees:

Some people even had commentary about the iconic photographs in the article:

Rochkind assures readers that with his new fiance, he’s “enthusiastic about his decision to give up high-maintenance hotties.”

Please put “high-maintenance hottie” on my tombstone?

The Huffington Post has reached out to Rochkind and the article’s writer and will update this piece accordingly.

The Brunch Dish That Made This NYC Bistro Famous

The morning offerings at the NYC restaurant Jack’s Wife Freda aren’t exactly your standard waffles and pancakes. Instead, the menu ranges from a grapefruit-yogurt combo garnished with mint and honey to poached eggs with grilled tomato and halloumi, a firm white cheese common in Greek cuisine. And then, there’s the shakshuka.

You might be familiar with the baked-eggs-in-tomato-sauce dish that’s of Tunisian origin. Varieties abound ― it can be jazzed up with chorizo and bread crumbs; even cooked just for one, in a mug ― but the interpretation at Jack’s Wife Freda (featured in their new cookbook Jack’s Wife Freda) brings a surprising new spin to the dish’s classic red sauce.

Swapping in tomatillos for tomatoes, the shakshuka gets a fresh zestiness from the green fruit (yes, like tomatoes, tomatillos are technically fruit) that’s utterly delicious—especially when combined with rich egg yolks and finished with gentle spice, thanks to a jalapeño chili, plus ground coriander and cumin. Serve it with some toasted challah or French brioche on the side and you’ve got an amazing brunch that’s so tasty, it’ll leave your breakfast guests wanting more, just as it does long lines of New Yorkers.

Watch Sean Spicer Apologize For Hitler Gaffe As The Easter Bunny On 'Jimmy Kimmel'

Jimmy Kimmel seized the moment on Wednesday to dress down White House press secretary Sean Spicer. Or should we say dress up?

Amid a report that Donald Trump’s White House has struggled to arrange the annual Easter Egg Roll, Kimmel dredged up an image of Spicer from the George W. Bush administration days, when he actually played the Egg Roll’s Easter bunny in full costume.

With a bit of digital help, Kimmel presented the beleaguered spokesman in a similar Easter bunny getup, saying he’s sorry for a recent gaffe in which he claimed Adolf Hitler never used chemical weapons.

“This week, for the first time maybe in history, we got to see the Easter bunny apologize for comments about the Holocaust,” Kimmel said.
