Every New (and Returning!) Development Thrawn Brings to the Star Wars Universe

Thrawn is a great Star Wars book that stands on its own. But the little nods and winks Timothy Zahn makes to Thrawn’s old life in the Expanded Universe novels—and to the events in Rebels, where Thrawn is currently the main antagonist—add another layer of delight. You should definitely read Thrawn (and watch Rebels),…

Official Spotify Apple Watch App Coming Soon

Spotify subscribers who own an Apple Watch might have wondered at some point why Spotify hasn’t released an official app for their smartwatch. Indeed, that’s a valid question, as one would have expected the world’s most widely used music streaming service to cater to users on one of the world’s most popular smartwatches. It has now been confirmed that Spotify is finally working on one.

Developer Andrew Chang was irked by the fact that there was no Spotify app for the Apple Watch so he decided to make his own. His app was first called Spotty but the name was changed in February when Spotify reached out to Chang because it thought that the name of his app and its interface was very similar to Spotify.

However, Spotify was actually impressed by what Chang had been able to do with the app so much so that the company decided to hire him and now he’s working on the official Spotify app for the Apple Watch.

Chang had promised back then that he would add features like Siri support, watch face complications, offline sync support, and even the ability to download playlists on the Apple Watch when Snowy was available.

While we know that he’s working on the official app now, it remains to be seen if these features will be included in the app when it arrives. Spotify hasn’t confirmed when it’s going to release the official app for Apple Watch.

128GB Galaxy S8+ With 6GB RAM May Arrive In Other Markets As Well

It was rumored even before Samsung had officially announced the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ that there will be at least one variant of the new flagship which will feature 128GB of onboard storage as well as 6GB of RAM. Samsung confirmed last week that it was going to release a variant of the Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage in South Korea only. However, the possibility exists that Samsung might bring it to markets outside Korea as well.

The 128GB Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM comes bundled with Samsung’s DeX station dock which can be used to get a PC-like interface on an external monitor from the new Samsung flagship.

It’s quite a bit more expensive than other variants, it has been priced at $1,018, and is only being sold exclusively in Samsung’s home market of South Korea.

A news report out of the country suggests that Samsung is open to the possibility of launching this Galaxy S8+ model in markets outside South Korea as well.

It’s very likely that China will be the next destination for this model as there’s significant demand there for handsets that boast high numbers on their spec sheets.

Samsung hasn’t said anything about bringing this model to the United States or Europe so we’ll have to wait and see if this particular Galaxy S8+ model makes it to the West at all.

Misfit Flare Is A Basic Fitness Tracker For $60

If you’re looking to buy a fitness tracker that provides only the most basic features without breaking the bank then Misfit would like you to take a look at its latest product. The Misfit Flare is a barebones fitness tracker that costs $59.99. It keeps track of basic metrics and doesn’t include some of the features that are normally found on activity trackers that cost well over $100.

This is a barebones fitness tracker because the objective here is to provide a useful product to customers at a low price point.

The Misfit Flare can track your steps, the distance you’ve traveled, and how many calories you have burned in the process. It even has sleep tracking so you can see in the morning for how many hours you were out the previous night.

Features like movement reminders and the ability to receive text and call alerts that are normally found on Misfit devices are missing from the Flare. That’s because Misfit wanted to offer a cheap device that offers core fitness tracking features. Those who would like to have those features can buy one of its other fitness trackers that cost over $100.

One interesting feature that the Flare does have is a touch-sensitive button that’s also the face of the tracker. It can be customized to perform several actions like pausing and playing music or taking a picture with your smartphone’s camera.

Misfit Flare is available now for $59.99. It does support swim tracking but that feature can only be unlocked by paying $9.99 extra via the Misfit app.

Boomerang Cartoon Streaming Service Launched For $5 Per Month

There are many standalone online TV streaming services available today that allow subscribers to access TV shows, documentaries, movies, and more if they just pay a set monthly price. Then there are services like Netflix and Amazon Video that provide access to a large library of video content, which includes titles for kids as well. There’s a better option now, though, and it’s called Boomerang.

Time Warner’s Turner and Warner Bros. have joined forces to launch Boomerang which is an online streaming service for cartoons that provides access to both current and classic cartoons. Boomerang is going to have a big library of cartoons which will include shows from the likes of Looney Tunes, MGM animation, and Warner Bros.’ Hanna-Barbera.

Subscribers will be able to access more than 5,000 titles on this streaming service. Titles include classics like The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Tom & Jerry, Scooby Doo, and much more.

More than 1000 episodes of cartoon shows are immediately available for streaming from Boomerang and more will be added every week.

Some original content will be offered as well. Boomerang will eventually get additional features like personalized recommendations, offline viewing, family profiles, and more as well. Those who are interested can subscribe to Boomerang starting today for $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year.

The service is only available in the United States on iOS, Android, and the web at launch. Apps will be released for Chromecast, Roku, Amazon, and Apple TV in the future.

Huawei CEO Isn’t Exactly A Fan Of Smartwatches

You’d think that the CEO of a consumer electronics company that has made some good smartwatches would like to wear one of his company’s creations at least for a short period of time, well, you’d be wrong in Huawei CEO Eric Xu Zhijun’s case. He’s not particularly a fan of smartwatches, as his recent statement reveals.

Speaking at the company’s Global Analyst Summit in Shenzhen, China, Zhijun said that he doesn’t see the point of having devices like smartwatches out in the market.

“I am always confused as to what smartwatches are for when we have smartphones,” the South China Morning Post quotes him as saying, he also point it out that he has never even dreamt of wearing a smartwatch himself.

Perhaps he doesn’t like wearing watches at all or perhaps he’s just opposed to the idea of creating smartwatches just for the sake of doing something that everyone else appears to be doing.

He further added that this is why he keeps reminding the smartwatch team at Huawei to consider where there are tangible needs for smartwatches in the market whenever they come to him to present new ideas that they have been working on.

Interestingly, though, it hasn’t been long since Huawei last launched new smartwatches. The Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic were both announced at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February.

This Coffee Table's Built-In Fridge Means You Never Have To Get Up Again

Coffee tables have long been free-loaders. They just sit there, housing fancy books you’ve never opened and acting as a graveyard for your mail.

Well not anymore, folks.

The Sobro is a smart coffee table that currently has over $900,000 in funding on Indiegogo. It boasts charging ports, Bluetooth speakers, LED mood lighting, television connection capabilities and ― wait for it ― a freaking built-in refrigerator.

The so-called “cooler coffee table,” which plugs into the wall, provides an ideal solution for anyone who has dreams of having to move off the couch only to use the bathroom.

Sobro officially launches in September 2017, and will set you back a steep $1,500. For the next month, however, early backers can purchase one for a less offensive $699.

Sure, it might be laziness at its finest, but we can’t deny this would be a pretty perfect addition to a Netflix marathon. And hey, we know at least two dudes in addition to its over 1,000 backers who will likely be pretty excited about the whole thing:

Head to Indiegogo to learn more.
