Why Are You Still Using Microsoft Word?

So you’re still using Microsoft Word. Seems like an odd decision in the year 2017, but I didn’t come here to judge. I’m legitimately curious why some people continue to pump their money into the MS Office Suite, despite mounting evidence that the software offers shitty security and a historically terrible user…

TriceraTACO Taco Holder: That’s Prehistoric Mexico Right Here, Folks.

Out of all the extinct dinosaurs, none saddened me more than the disappearance of the TriceraTACO who would majestically carry tacos for other dinosaurs to devour. But good news. TriceraTACO is back as an awesome taco holder.

What could be better than a dinosaur carrying a couple of tacos for you? Nothing. What could beat that? Look at how excited that kid in the picture is. That kid scares me. But I understand his excitement. Give me my taco dinosaur, so I can eat it while my mom hides the forks and knives.

Now I’m hungry for tacos and I have no dinosaur to deliver them. Guess I better place my order quick.

NASA Will Stream From Space In 4K For The First Time Ever On April 26th

If you’re not used to watching 4K content the sheer quality can take you by surprise. 4K televisions and monitors are getting cheaper and content is becoming easier to find. If you happen to own a display that’s capable of 4K resolution, you might want to tune in on April 26th because that’s when NASA is going to join forces with Amazon to stream live in 4K from space.

NASA and Amazon Web Services will broadcast the first live stream in 4K from outer space on April 26th. The live stream will be available at 10:30 AM PDT. It’s part of a show from the annual NAB convention for broadcasters.

Don’t worry if you’re unable to catch the stream live. The recording will be made available later directly from NASA’s website in 4K and lower resolutions. The stream is going to feature a conversation between NASA’s Dr. Peggy Whitson onboard the International Space Station and an AWS executive at the convention.

This live stream from 250 miles above Earth is going to show off Amazon Web Services’ Elemental encoding software onboard the ISS and on the ground at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Amazon’s CloudFront Content Delivery Network is going to power the live streaming access in both 4K and HD.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Release Date Confirmed

Naughty Dog announced in December last year that it was working on a standalone story chapter called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy which would be released for PlayStation 4 in the new year. Since then, the developer has provided more information about the new chapter without confirming when it’s going to be released. It has done that today. Naughty Dog today confirmed the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy release date.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a standalone story that features characters from the main game and immerses players in a new story and new challenge. The Lost Legacy features Chloe Frazer, who first appeared in Uncharted 2, and Nadine Ross from Uncharted 4.

Naughty Dog has shared new footage and additional details about this game today aside from confirming its release date for North America and Europe.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will see Chloe and Nadine venture across India as they look for the fabled Tusk of Ganesh. The developer promises a deep narrative and complex character development experience in this new game. Uncharted:

The Lost Legacy is going to be released on August 22nd in North America and the very next day in Europe. The game is going to cost $39.99.

Sony recently confirmed that Naughty Dog’s PS2 classics Jak and Daxter will be coming to the PlayStation 4 later this year. Naughty Dog has decided to give a free digital copy of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for PS4 to all those who pre-order The Lost Legacy at participating retailers.

Those who pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store will also receive an Uncharted: The Lost Legacy PS4 theme designed by Truant Pixel. Three Huawei MateBook Models With Kaby Lake Processors Expected

The MateBook is a slim and lightweight Windows 10-powered tablet that Huawei launched back at the Mobile World Congress last year. It didn’t follow up with a successor at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona a couple of months back but that doesn’t mean Huawei has given up on this product. A new leak reveals that Huawei has three MateBook models in the pipeline and that they may be powered by Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processors.

Twitter leakster @evleaks has tweeted images of all three models which will apparently be called the Huawei MateBook D, MateBook E, and MateBook X.

@evleaks has built up a strong reputation for himself when it comes to leaking unreleased devices so there might be some truth to this rumor after all.

Going by the images, it appears that the MateBook E looks the most similar to its predecessor as far as the design is concerned. The other two models appear to look more like conventional notebooks and may offer similar performance.

Another report suggests that the MateBook X is going to have a 15 inch display with a 7th generation Intel Core i5-7200U Kaby Lake processor and 8GB of RAM. All three will run on Windows 10 and may even come with the Creators Update out of the box given that it’s unclear when they will be out.

Huawei hasn’t said anything about new MateBooks at this point in time so take this with a grain of salt even though all of this looks quite plausible.

Facebook Messenger Now Supports Group Payments

It was back in 2015 when Facebook first allowed Messenger users to pay each other from within the messaging app. The feature can come in handy if you need to quickly transfer money to a friend for that salad you had for lunch, for example. Facebook has gradually been improving the features for group chats over the past few months and it’s now bringing the ability to transfer money in group chats to Messenger. This feature is live now for Messenger users.

Starting today, Messenger users on desktop and Android can send or receive money between groups of people on Messenger. The feature is simple, fast, and free. This is going to allow Messenger users to quickly settle a restaurant bill, chip in for a group gift, and more from within their group chat.

Sharing money within a group chat is easy enough. Just tap on the plus sign in the bottom left-hand corner and tap on the payments icon. There the user can choose who to send or request money from. It’s possible to choose individual members or everyone in the group.

Users can enter the amount they want to request or the total sum which will be divided evenly. A little note can be added with the money request to let the recipients know what they’re paying for.

A message will be displayed in the conversation showing who in the group chat has paid. The Messenger group payments feature is live now but it’s only available for users in the United States.

Cosmo’s Headline About Cancer Survivor’s Weight Loss Is A Doozy

Like a cover on a book, headlines are supposed to entice potential readers ― but this Cosmopolitan one took that premise a little too far.

In a piece that went up on Cosmopolitan.com on Monday afternoon, editor Elizabeth Narins tells the story of 31-year-old Simone Harbinson and the life-threatening health scares she faced over the course of a tumultuous two years.

The story documents the sicknesses she endured and struggles she overcame, but the original headline, strangely, only focused on Harbinson’s weight loss:

Harbinson is an Instagram fitness blogger so we understand that exercise and healthy living is significant to the story, but the headline makes it seem like her ailments were a weight loss hack.

But the weight loss aspect of Harbinson’s story is unrelated to everything she suffered through.

Harbinson got a severe kidney infection, tested “positive for a malignant carcinoid tumor of the appendix,” “contracted an infection that required her to be quarantined,” experienced a partial lung collapse, and suffered from chronic pain stemming from a damaged disc in her back. And that’s not even all the hardships she endured.

The article also notes that Harbinson “lost 44 pounds without a single session at the gym,” noting that because she’s still recovering from surgery, “she isn’t physically able to work out the way she used to before her cancer diagnosis.”

While weight loss is surely a major tenet of the Cosmo brand, this headline and “angle,” if you want to call it that, is completely tone deaf. And many people agreed:

Cosmopolitan deleted the tweet touting the story just under an hour after it was posted.

It’s important to note that many writers and journalists do not come up with the headlines for their pieces because an editor (or editors) is involved. So, more than one person at the publication signed off on this, which is probably how ― right after the tweet was deleted ― the publication swapped out the original headline for this:

The dek accompanying the revised headline is still the same as it was in the original piece and its tone is also problematic. As Twitter noted above, it’s making cancer appear as though it’s a diet.

Despite the changed headline, Cosmopolitan did not put a note on the piece indicating that anything had been altered.

For Harbinson’s part, she didn’t appear to have an issue with the headline’s message. She sent out this post on her Instagram after the article was published:

HuffPost has reached out to the writer, Harbinson, and Cosmopolitan for comment.
