Couple Say They're Bugged Out By Live Scorpion In Supermarket Spinach Bag

Greens can be bad for you.

Days after a dead bat found in a salad prompted a recall, a Maryland couple said they discovered a live scorpion in a bag of spinach they purchased at a grocery store, NBC Washington reported Monday.

“I saw something inside the bag crawling,” Sri Sindhusha Boddapati of Chevy Chase told the station. “I thought it was a cricket in the beginning,” she said, until she trapped the insect and placed it in a bottle.

Her husband, Shanmukha Pranay Rajeev Jerripothula, took the bottle to the Giant Food store and said he warned the outlet it shouldn’t sell the Giant-branded spinach package “because it might contain a scorpion,” the outlet noted.

The husband told ABC affiliate WJLA that the store wouldn’t recall the product.

“Customer satisfaction is our highest priority,” Giant Food of Landover told The Huffington Post in an emailed statement. “We regret any inconvenience to our customer. We take the quality of our products very seriously and we are following up with the supplier to take every step to ensure this isolated incident does not occur in the future.”

With Sally the Salad Robot, it is capable of creating custom salads with up to 21 seasonal ingredients. These ingredients will be replenished daily in less than a minute, regardless of the time of the day. Specially developed by food robotics company Chowbotics, being intuitive and easy to use. All that users need to do before chowing down on some salad is to place a bowl beneath the dispenser, make the right selections on a touchscreen interface, kick back and relax. You can then watch Sally’s canisters shift to drop each ingredient in, one by one.

Charlie Ayers is the Executive Chef behind Sally the Salad Robot’s signature salads, as he oversees ingredient selection. He shared, “Having spent my career in Silicon Valley, the intersection of food and technology has always fascinated and inspired me. I am proud to collaborate with the Chowbotics team to bring robotics to food service. This is the future.”

Survey: Majority Of Teens Expect Their Next Phone To Be An iPhone

While Apple is still making a ton of money from iPhone sales despite it dropping compared to the previous years, we’re sure that the company would love to see their sales figures rise again. It seems that this could be the year because in a recent survey conducted by Piper Jaffray, it seems that a good majority of teens expect their next phone to be an iPhone.

This survey consisted of 5,500 teens spread across 43 states in the US. According to the results of the survey, 81% of the teens surveyed said that they expect their next smartphone to be an iPhone, a number that has gone up from the previous year in the fall of 2016 where it was at 79%, and is also apparently the highest level ever recorded by the survey.

Of course whether or not these teens surveyed will end up buying the iPhone remains to be seen, especially when you consider that not all teens have their own money and might rely on their parents who might consider the iPhone to be too expensive for a teenager. However we guess if anything it does show that the iPhone is in demand.

According to analysts in the past, quite a few are expecting Apple to experience another super cycle of iPhone sales this year. Given what we’ve heard from the rumors so far, it does sound like Apple will be shaking things up considerably, but whether or not the rumors are true is a different story.
