This LEGO Cactus Is a Thorny Proposition

Most of the LEGO builds we see around here are buildings, creatures, robots, or maybe vehicles. What’s particularly rare are LEGO creations designed to look like plants. Even more exotic is a LEGO cactus.

This awesome custom LEGO build was created by Brother Steven, and it looks just like a desert cactus, complete with a flowering top, and lots of nasty thorns to keep any LEGO herbivores away. Steven built the plastic succulent as an entry in the ABS Builder Challenge, and included a friendly message along with his entry:“A gift to my competition. Handle with care.”

ClickPack Pro Is An Anti-Theft Backpack For Your Gadgets

If you carry a lot of your tech gadgets with you on the go, like your laptop, tablet, smartphone, battery packs, memory cards, and so on, chances are you will rely on a backpack for that. While most backpacks do a pretty decent job of carrying your stuff around, there’s always the concern of having your stuff stolen.

This is where the ClickPack Pro will come in handy. This is a Kickstarter campaign for an anti-theft backpack which will be ideal for your gadgets. How is this, you ask? For starters it comes with a built-in lock for your zippers which means that you can zip your backpack up and thieves won’t be able to access its contents.

Secondly it is also made from very durable materials and as you can see in the video above, is slash-resistant meaning that thieves who are counting on slashing your backpack and running off with its contents will have a much harder time trying to accomplish that. It also features a retractable metal wire lock, so you can tether the bag to your seat, or a stand so that snatch thieves can’t just come up and run off with it.

To top it all off, the ClickPack Pro also features a bunch of compartments that are clearly labeled so you know where your gadgets are. It also features an RFID magnetic strip so that you can keep your credit cards in the bag and scanners won’t be able to scan its details. The project has exceeded its Kickstarter goal at this time of writing, but if you’re interested the ClickPack Pro retails for $99 as an early bird special.

Google Play Carrier Billing Extended To Boost Mobile

If you’re the sort of person who likes having their bills consolidated as much as possible, then you might be pleased to learn that Google has expanded its carrier billing to Boost Mobile in the US. What this means is that your Google Play Store purchases can now be charged to your phone bill, so that you won’t have to deal with separate bills when it comes to all things related to your phone.

Boost Mobile will be the latest carrier to be supported in the US. They join the likes of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon which is pretty much all the major carriers, as well as US Cellular. We expect that over time there will be more carriers added to the list in the US, but for now there will be six that are currently supported.

In addition to the US, Google Play Store carrier billing has also expanded its support to other carriers around the world. For our non-US readers, this includes Vodafone in Indonesia, Beeline for those living in Kazakhstan, Orange for our readers in Luxembourg, Telenor Pakistan, Telekom in Slovenia, and Vietnamobile and Viettel for Vietnam.

While this is great for bill consolidation, it also comes in handy for those who prefer to avoid using their debit/credit cards, or for those who do not own one.

Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus Revealed With 4,000mAh Battery

If you’re looking for a new smartphone, it seems that Huawei might have a low-end budget handset that you could be interested in. In a tweet by Roland Quandt, it looks like Huawei’s latest budget efforts come in the form of a handset called the Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus, which based on its specs isn’t particularly exciting.

However it does pack a pretty big 4,000mAh battery which means that if you’re looking for a phone that can last you at least a day (your mileage may vary) then we reckon the Enjoy 7 Plus should do the trick. According to its specs, we’re looking at a phone with a 5.5-inch 720p HD display and under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset can be found.

The phone will also come with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 12MP rear-facing camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, Android 7.0 Nougat, and while Quandt did not mention it, it looks like the phone might have a fingerprint sensor on the back as well, although we can’t confirm it even though it certainly looks that way.

That being said, the phone is currently launched in China and we’re not sure if it will find its way stateside. Huawei has launched several devices in the US so maybe it could, but don’t get your hopes up just yet. It is also priced at 1,599 Yuan which is roughly $231 after conversion.

The Ending of Lost Almost Featured a Giant Volcano

The ending of Lost was almost much bigger than what audiences saw. Nothing was that different. The characters and island were always going to be what they ended up being. But, one big addition would have changed things significantly: a volcano.

Possible Moto E4 Power With 5,000mAh Battery Spotted At The FCC

It’s kind of strange that flagship smartphones that pack the latest features and technology always seem to be lacking huge batteries, which we reckon would make it even more compelling. This isn’t to say that battery life on flagships are terrible, but if they could sport bigger batteries, that’d be great.

That being said if you’re after a smartphone with a potentially massive battery, then you might be interested to learn that the Moto E4 Power has recently stopped by the FCC carrying a whopping 5,000mAh battery. The handset carries the model number XT1770 and while Motorola has yet to make any kind of official announcement, given that the Moto E3 was launched last year (pictured above), it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that a successor could be in the works.

Specs of the Moto E4 Power are unknown, save for its battery size. However based on the specs of the Moto E3, the Moto E4 and its variants will most likely end up being of the low-end variety. Then again with its low-end specs and its massive battery, this should result in a handset that could possibly last users for days on end, which might be great for a backup device or for a device for your kids.

FCC Kills Plans To Allow Mobile Phone Conversations On Flights

While the rules on using your phone on a flight have been relaxed over the years, there is still one thing you can’t do with your phone, and that is to make phone calls. The FCC and the FAA have toyed with the idea of allowing passengers to use their phones to make calls during flights in the past, but it seems that those plans have since been killed.

In an announcement by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, it seems that ultimately the FCC has decided against the idea. In a statement issued by Pai, “I stand with airline pilots, flight attendants, and America’s flying public against the FCC’s ill-conceived 2013 plan to allow people to make cell phone calls on plane. I do not believe that moving forward with this plan is in the public interest. Taking it off the table permanently will be a victory for Americans across the country who, like me, value a moment of quiet at 30,000 feet.”

To be fair the idea was met with quite a bit of resistance when it was first announced. After all in such a confined space, the last thing we’re sure many passengers would not want is to overhear someone else’s conversation, especially if the other person has no social awareness and is talking loudly which could disturb other passengers, but what do you guys think? Are you glad this plan has been killed? Or was it something you were actually looking forward to?
