Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer Out

Marvel has featured many of its most popular characters from its superhero universe in blockbuster movies and Thor happens to be one of them. He’s a part of the lucrative Avengers franchise and has also featured in two standalone movies with a third on the way. Marvel has now released a Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer which gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming movie.

Taika Waititi is in the director’s chair for Thor: Ragnarok. It’s the third standalone movie that features the Norse god Thor and certainly has a lot of questions to answer that were raised in previous movies.

Following the accidental release of the goddess of death Hela, Thor is banished to the planet of Sakaar without his trusty hammer. There, he has to fight with an intergalactic gladiator with only the Hulk to keep him company.

If you didn’t get enough of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange in the first standalone movie for that character you’ll like the fact that Doctor Strange will also be making an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. Appearances will also be made by Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins and Tim Hiddleston as Loki.

Thor: Ragnarok is due to hit the big screen on November 3rd this year.

ZTE Quartz Smartwatch Now Official

We’ve known for a while now that ZTE has been working on a new wearable device. Reports suggested that it was going to offer an affordable smartwatch powered by Android Wear 2.0. ZTE has officially announced its latest product today, it’s the Quartz smartwatch, and it will be released later this month.

The ZTE Quartz is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. Powered by Android Wear 2.0, it features a 500mAh battery, a built-in speaker and mic, GPS and LTE connectivity, and happens to be water resistant. ZTE Quartz also features a 400×400 1.4 inch AMOLED display.

The smartwatch itself has been fashioned out of metal and features removable watch bands that allow users to customize the look to their preference. Features missing from the smartwatch include wireless charging, a heart rate sensor, and NFC which means it’s not compatible with Android Pay.

ZTE has confirmed that the Quartz is exclusive to T-Mobile at this point in time so it’s unclear if it’s going to be offered by any other carrier as well. T-Mobile is selling it for $199 outright or $192 on its payment plans.

T-Mobile is going to start selling the ZTE Quartz from April 14th online and sales will begin in its store from April 21st.

Bixby May Expand In Q4 With Support For More Languages

Prior to its official announcement, it was rumored that Samsung’s Bixby voice interface on the Galaxy S8 would have support for more than half a dozen languages. We now know that’s not the case. Bixby only has support for English and Korean at launch but according to information posted on Samsung’s own website, Bixby is going to be expanded in the fourth quarter of this year to additional markets with support for more languages.

The information comes from the FAQ section of Samsung Germany website which addresses a question about the availability of Bixby in this particular country. Samsung responded to that question by revealing that full Bixby functionality will be available in Germany in the fourth quarter of this year.

By full functionality, it might very well mean that Bixby will be able to accept commands spoken in the German language and also respond in the same language. This may be true for other markets as well where Samsung is planning to provide full Bixby support.

It certainly won’t be surprising to see the list of supported languages for Bixby expand over the coming months. It’s not known right now which markets Samsung is going to prioritize for this.

Bixby is going to debut with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ both of which will start shipping on April 21st. Samsung has already confirmed that Bixby will eventually make its way to other devices as well, including but not limited to consumer electronics devices.

Expedia Will Let You Check Out Hotel Rooms In Virtual Reality

It feels really bad when your expectations are not met. You paid hundreds of dollars for a hotel room that looked straight out of your dreams in the pictures but when you finally get there after hours of traveling and you find that it’s not that it was made out to be, you tend to get disappointed. Travel-booking company Expedia wants to make it a more immersive experience so that its customers can get a proper feel for the room, and for that it’s relying on virtual reality.

Expedia is working on providing virtual reality versions of its hotel listings so that customers can check them out in an immersive environment. It has embarked upon this endeavor as more and more people have access to some form of a VR device at home.

“If you’re going to make the decision of [booking] a cruise, wouldn’t it be cool if you could check out the ship [virtually] before you spend that much money?” asks Arthur Chapin, Expedia’s Senior Vice President, Product and Design.

Virtual reality can play a vital role in helping people make their travel decisions. It will enable them to virtually step inside a hotel room and experience it right from the comfort of their own couch. Users will even be able to interact with their surroundings by sliding the doors open and stepping out onto the balcony.

It will take some time before VR is implemented on a wider scale for properties listed on Expedia, but it’s an exciting possibility nonetheless, one that Expedia is working hard to bring to reality.

The Worst Culinary Cardinal Sins You Can Commit, According To Twitter

There’s a lot of leeway you can take when it comes to cooking ― if you’re out of peanut butter, for example, almond butter will do in a pinch. But some culinary decisions are downright sinful. Twitter has called out the worst culinary cardinal sins with the hashtag #culinarycardinalsins, and we have to admit: they are spot on.

Margarine will never be a suitable substitute for butter ― just as a recent Dunkin’ Donuts lawsuit points out ― and raisins are the worst things to happen to oatmeal cookies, Twitter reminds us.

Read on for the worst culinary cardinal sins to happen in the kitchen.

Alec Baldwin Calls Out Publisher For Errors In His New Memoir

function onPlayerReadyVidible(e){‘undefined’!=typeof HPTrack&&HPTrack.Vid.Vidible_track(e)}!function(e,i){if(e.vdb_Player){if(‘object’==typeof commercial_video){var a=”,o=’m.fwsitesection=’+commercial_video.site_and_category;if(a+=o,commercial_video[‘package’]){var c=’&m.fwkeyvalues=sponsorship%3D’+commercial_video[‘package’];a+=c}e.setAttribute(‘vdb_params’,a)}i(e.vdb_Player)}else{var t=arguments.callee;setTimeout(function(){t(e,i)},0)}}(document.getElementById(‘vidible_1’),onPlayerReadyVidible);

Alec Baldwin has been a busy gentleman in recent weeks. His impression of President Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live” has been wildly popular (at least among liberals), he voiced the titular baby in the new breakout blockbuster “Boss Baby,” and his memoir Nevertheless hit bookstores last week.

Nevertheless, he apparently found a free moment to take to Facebook with some concerns about the editing of his new book, The Guardian reports. In his first, and currently only, post on a Facebook page for Nevertheless, he noted that “the published edition contains SEVERAL typos and errors which I was more than a little surprised to see.” He also hinted that he was less than thrilled with how few photos made it into the book.

Baldwin didn’t sugarcoat his displeasure with the errors he saw in the final text. “The editors at Harper Collins were, I imagine, too busy to do a proper and forensic edit of the material,” he commented, rather cuttingly. Though the Facebook page is, he wrote, intended to be a platform for him to share material that didn’t make it into the book, his upcoming postings “will be an index of corrections and amendments to the text in order to bring it more in line with my original intent.”

Perhaps Baldwin’s ongoing impersonation of Trump is wearing off on him ― the two men apparently share, at least, the impulse to bypass traditional media to set the record straight.

All that said, only one correction ― more of a clarification than an amendment ― appeared in his initial post, published on April 4:

When I write that I am “in love” with Megan Mulalley [sic] or Kate McKinnon or Tina Fey, I mean that I am in love with their talent. As a happily married man who wants to stay that way (ahem), I wanted to clarify that.

Got it.

HarperCollins declined to comment. But some fans and authors have weighed in with their thoughts on Facebook.

May We All Be As Cool As This Woman In The Face Of White Supremacy

When a group of rowdy white supremacists infiltrated Saffiyah Khan’s home city of Birmingham, England, she chose the “kill ‘em with kindness” approach ― and it made for some incredible photos.

A group of marchers with the far-right English Defense League were demonstrating in Birmingham’s city center in response to the attack on Westminster Bridge last month. The Islamophobic group is known for its often rowdy and violent protests

“I ended up going to the EDL demo because there is a history of harassment and assault of Muslims, vulnerable members of the public, and people of color at the demos and outside of it,” Khan told Buzzfeed

She was calmly hanging around the demonstration when she saw one woman in hijab completely surrounded by dozens of angry white men, and chose to step in. That’s when Press Association photographer Joe Giddens captured the incredible moment between Khan and EDL member Ian Crossland.

Khan said she “didn’t feel threatened in the slightest way” ― and it’s fairly obvious. Throughout her interaction with Crossland, she remains smiling with her hands in her pockets, clearly unfazed.

Her photo quickly went viral, with thousands on Twitter celebrating her badassery.

One Birmingham MP, Jess Phillips, hailed Khan as “the real Brummy” (a nickname for British folks from Birmingham, with a Birmingham acccent) while referring to the EDL as a group “who migrated for the day to our city and failed to assimilate.”

In a follow-up interview with the BBC, Khan said that “Sometimes it’s more important to smile than to shout.”

Hear, hear.
