Wendy's Underestimated This Intrepid Man Desperate For A Year Of Free Nuggets

What would you do for a year of chicken nuggets?

Well, Twitter user Carter Wilkerson is trying to get 18 million retweets.

On Wednesday at precisely 10:31 p.m., in a tweet that will live on in infamy, Wilkerson tweeted at fast-food chain Wendy’s. He asked Wendy’s how many retweets would snag him a year of FREE chicken nuggets.

Unflinching and clearly appreciative of the tenacity of the request, Wendy’s responded a mere minute later with:

Wilkerson, a hero, responded in kind:

Wilkerson is up for the challenge, although it’s unclear whether he knows just exactly what he signed up for.

For reference, the most-retweeted tweet in Twitter history was Ellen DeGeneres’ famous Oscars selfie ― which has a mere 3.2 million retweets, as Mashable observed. To get to the Wendy’s-required 18 million, Eater crunched the numbers: It would take 5 percent of the entire Twitterverse retweeting Wilkerson to reach his goal.

As of Friday morning, Wilkerson had exceeded 1 million retweets.

And Wendy’s was “shook.”

If the 1 million retweets weren’t evidence enough, Wilkerson’s dedication the nugget cause has rallied a serious amount of support.

There’s a GoFundMe seeking $65,000 to get Wilkerson the retweets he needs.

“Using services that allow you to buy Twitter retweets, the 18 million goal can be accomplished with just $62,000. Please support with anything you can and be sure to retweet his tweet yourself if you haven’t already,” the page states.

The other $3,000 is unaccounted for, but no matter!

There’s also a hashtag, #NuggsForCarter, which has folks from all over getting very excited about Wilkerson’s prospective year of nuggets.

Many tweets also tag “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in an effort to not only convince host DeGeneres to retweet for the cause, but also to invite Wilkerson on her show.

Many have asked Wendy’s if they’ll give Wilkerson the nuggets now that he’s topped 1 million retweets ― an impressive feat in itself. But the fast-food chain appears to be steadfast in its desire for a full 18 million.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Wilkerson and Wendy’s regarding this quest for nuggets, so we’ll update this post if they get back to us. A Wendy’s representative has stated the company is impressed by what has gone down thus far and didn’t expect the tweet to take off the way it has:

To all you fellow nugget-lovers out there, know this: All you need is a dream.

Keep on tweeting, Carter. We hope you get those nuggets.

Whoopi Goldberg Defends Pepsi Ad, Says Wearing Weave Is Appropriation

Here she goes again.

Whoopi Goldberg, on a Thursday broadcast of “The View,” weighed in on Pepsi’s controversial ad featuring Kendall Jenner. The ad, which premiered on Monday and was pulled two days later, received criticism for appropriating social justice movements, including Black Lives Matter, for profit.

During the “Hot Topics” segment of the show, Goldberg declared that while she didn’t think the video was executed well, she didn’t find it offensive.

“Listen, now, there are some things where you can say, ‘Hey, you need to be more sensitive,’ but this ain’t one of them,” Goldberg said. “This is a bad commercial, that didn’t work. … Remember, you see it on paper, and it looks good, it looks smart.”

When co-host Sunny Hostin pointed out Jenner and the Kardashian family’s history of cultural appropriation, Goldberg got especially fired up.

“It’s just a crappy commercial! You know, this cultural appropriation stuff is starting to really make me crazy,” the 61-year-old actress said.

“If we’re gonna go with cultural appropriation, wear natural hair,” Goldberg said. “If we’re wearing white lady hair, isn’t that appropriation as well?”

Of course, black women wearing weaves or extensions is not the same thing as white women rocking cornrows, but Goldberg (who has worn extensions in the past), seems to be strongly against the idea of cultural appropriation on the whole.

On an episode of “The View” in June, Goldberg stated: “If you’re going to talk about appropriating, and what’s cool and what’s not cool, we’re all in deep doodoo, because we’re doing it to each other constantly.”

Oh, Whoopi.

Parents Are Loving This 'Feeding Station' At Target

Target has a somewhat cult following among parents. But a store feature that’s been making the viral rounds could even further cement its place in mothers’ hearts.

The popular Facebook page, Breastfeeding Mama Talk, recently shared a photo taken at the Target in New Braunfels, Texas that’s been making the social media rounds. The picture shows a “feeding station,” where parents can nurse or bottle-feed their babies in the middle of the store.

The station features comfy-looking seats, cushions, free nursing pads, a nursing cover for moms who prefer more privacy, blankets and more. The Breastfeeding Mama Talk page also praised the fact that it’s conveniently located out in the open and not hidden away.

The photo garnered over 21,000 likes, and the comments section is filled with hundreds of positive responses.

Some commenters noted that they’d seen similar stations in their local Target stores.

Target spokesperson Kristy Welker told The Huffington Post there are no immediate plans to roll out this feature in more locations, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility in the future.

“In late 2016, we began testing designated nursing rooms at two stores in Minnesota,” she explained. “We will continue to evaluate guest feedback on this test to determine broader rollout to additional stores and we always appreciate hearing from our guests about how we can better meet their needs.”

Welker added that Target is committed to creating an environment in which shoppers feel comfortable, and the company’s breastfeeding policy, which applies to all stores, is part of that mission.

“Fitting rooms are available for women who wish to breastfeed their babies privately, even if others are waiting to use the fitting rooms,” she said. “Guests who choose to breastfeed in public areas of the store are welcome to do so without being made to feel uncomfortable. Additionally, store leaders are empowered to make decisions that help meet the needs of the guests they serve, as our team did at the New Braunfels store.”

Unlike the “stupid tiny carts” experiment, maybe this Target feature will eventually become more widespread. Clearly, it’s got a lot of fans.

This Is Exactly How Donald Trump Would Sing ‘Amazing Grace’

President Donald Trump has enjoyed an overwhelming amount of support from evangelical Christians, both before and after his election. And despite his divorces, boasts about sexual assault and attempts to turn a blind eye on refugees, among other things, evangelical Christians have largely stood by their man

Comedian Jordan Klepper turned his attention to the cozy relationship Trump has with evangelicals in a recent segment for the “The Daily Show.” Klepper spoke with a few evangelical Christians about their support for Trump, interspersing these interviews with images of Trump at a photo shoot surrounded by scantily clad models.

One of the president’s big evangelical fans is Pastor Mark Burns, a televangelist from South Carolina. Burns has been on the #TrumpTrain (his words, not ours) for quite some time. He spoke at the Republican National Convention and has continued to show unwavering support after the election.

Burns (who, by the way, has admitted to falsifying his resume to get ahead) was willing to brush aside Trump’s moral failings. He argued that “Donald Trump is not the pastor of the United States of America.” All that matters to Burns is that the president has “accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.”

On the flip side, Burns argued that former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is good at “pandering at the black churches, singing whatever ‘Amazing Grace’ song she can come up with for that moment.”

“Do you think Donald Trump knows the words to ‘Amazing Grace’”? Klepper asked, referring to the old Christian hymn.

“I think it would be more like ‘Tremendous Grace,’ Klepper continued, mimicking Trump’s jargon.

“How fantastic the sound. Could save a pretty good guy like me. I once was lost, though, you know what? I was never lost. I was born with an impeccable sense of direction.”
