Polar M430 Fitness Tracker Announced

Back in 2014, Polar announced the M400 fitness tracker. The M400 was a relatively inexpensive device which was more than capable of getting the job done, but if you’re looking for something a little more modern, then you might be interested to learn that Polar has announced the M430 which is the successor to 2014’s M400 model.

In terms of design, the differences aren’t that obvious save for the band. The M400 had a solid band while the M430’s bands are perforated which presumably should help make it more breathable and your wrist a little less sweaty. It will also retain the same 5-button design as its predecessor and its monochromatic display. For those hoping for color we guess this is a bit of a bummer, but if it means better battery life, why not?

The M430 will also come with an optical heart rate sensor, but instead of using 2 LEDs like some smartwatches and fitness trackers out there, the M430 is equipped with 6 LEDs. This combined with the heart rate tracker’s other features like being able to detect pulse waves, Polar is boasting that the M430 should be able to offer up more accurate measurements.

It also comes with built-in GPS, offers up 24/7 activity tracking, and it is also WR30 rated in terms of waterproof. It is expected to go on sale come May 2017 where it will retail for 229.90 EUR. Pre-orders are expected to begin later this month via Polar’s website.

Blizzard Will ‘Wait And See’ With Regards To Overwatch For Scorpio

With Diablo 3, Blizzard officially got into the console gaming business, so seeing Overwatch released for the PS4 and Xbox One did not come as a surprise. However as to with regards to Microsoft’s upcoming Project Scorpio, it seems that it isn’t necessarily a guarantee that Overwatch will be launched for the console.

Speaking in an interview with IBTimes, Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan was quoted as saying, “With both the advancements that Sony and Microsoft have made to their platforms, we’re super-eager to support in whatever way we can. We take kind of a wait and see approach. Our engine team loves doing things like supporting. Any time we can make the game look better, they like supporting it.”

He adds, “As long as we don’t break the game in some other way, or incur some technical cost that is prohibitive, we would obviously try to go along with the advancements, and be very supportive of advancements on all of our platforms.” While Kaplan does not explicitly confirm or deny Scorpio support, it would admittedly be a bit strange if they did not, although we guess maybe Blizzard is just playing it safe for now.

The company has also not ruled out the possibility of releasing games like Overwatch and Hearthstone for the Nintendo Switch. That being said, details regarding Scorpio such as its specs are expected to be revealed later today, so check back with us then for more updates on Microsoft’s latest console efforts.

Development On The Galaxy S9 Has Reportedly Begun

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have only just recently been announced and neither handset has yet to go on sale, but according to a report from The Bell (via The Investor; via PhoneArena), development on 2018’s Samsung Galaxy S9 has already begun. If true, this puts development of the handset 6 months ahead compared to the Galaxy S8.

So what’s with the early start? Shouldn’t Samsung be focusing on the Note 8 instead? According to the report, it seems that this is because of the new safety and testing procedures Samsung put into place following the Note 7’s fiasco, which we guess makes sense. The report claims that there is already a team in place who are working on the display panels for the handset and are allegedly aiming to supply samples mid-April.

It is unclear as to how far along Samsung is in terms of development, but we can only imagine that they are only just getting started, especially since we can imagine that their focus right now would be on the Galaxy S8/S8+ and the Note 8 which should be released towards the later part of the year.

It is too early to speculate as to what kind of specs Samsung might go with for the Galaxy S9, but presumably given the alleged head start they have, maybe the Galaxy S9 could see Samsung introduce an on-screen fingerprint sensor that they apparently ran out of time for the Galaxy S8, but either way take this report with a huge dose of salt for now.

Russia Calls Syria Gas Attack A 'Monstrous Crime,' But Refuses To Trust U.S. Conclusions

MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin on Thursday called a deadly poison gas attack in Syria’s Idlib province earlier this week a “monstrous crime,” but said Washington’s conclusions about the incident were not based on objective data.

“This was a dangerous and monstrous crime, but it would be incorrect to hang labels (to identify those who did it),” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

The use of chemical weapons was “unacceptable,” he said, urging the Syrian army to ensure such arms did not fall into the hands of terrorists.

Peskov said evidence about the incident provided by the White Helmets civil defense group could not be considered reliable and added: “We do not agree with these conclusions.”

“Immediately after the tragedy, no one had access to this region … any data which the U.S. side or our colleagues from other countries might have had access to could not have been based on objective facts,” Peskov told reporters.

The disagreement was unlikely to change the nature of ties between Russia and the United States, Peskov added.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said earlier on Thursday it was too early to accuse the Syrian government of being responsible for the attack in Idlib and said a proper investigation was needed, the RIA news agency reported.
